One of my favorite Faulire songs. Had the experience of hearing it live twice last week, in virginia and philly on Ken's solo tour. Anyone who can see him on this tour, do it! He's playing failure, ON, YOTR and stuff off his new solo cd. Also one of the nicest guys I've had the pleasure of meeting.
To this day, I still want to know EXACTLY how the sounds that opens Saturday Savior and opens/closes Daylight. I know it's recorded for the live shows....but it's something that has always (since I bought FP when it was new) intrigued me....it sounds like something I heard as a child...and to this day, cannot put my finger on what that sound was. 2014 isn't coming fast enough......
@M Fohawk - I feel like a psycho for looking so hard into the looping sound but I found the answer, this is a quote from Failure's AMA on Reddit last year: "Ken here. I believe that was an old music box that Greg found. It was not working quite right, which we liked. We sampled it, reversed it, and slowed it down a bit if I remember correctly. There might be two passes of it happening at the same time."
In my opinion, one of the most underrated bands going. Ken is a sonic genius and Greg's work in Failure and Autolux is awesome as well. Magnified and Fantastic Planet are awesome albums that on each subsequent listen I find something amazing that I missed previously.
@azureisacolor They were starting to get a bigger stage. When they imploded they were opening the main stage AND closing the second stage on the Lolapalooza tour. Sad day.
I Met Troy on the opening night of Queens of the Stone age with Dave Grohl on drums their very first show. After they're set they all came out and I asked Troy not knowing who he was what bands were you in man you look familiar. He said well I was in this little band called A perfect Circle. I immediately looked at them and said holy shit you are Troy you were in failure fuck! Dave Grohl you were in fucking failure. He said I'll be sure to tell Dave that when we get back to the hotel.
Its kind of one of those things where the right people need to be present to make it a great event. Youve got the band but missing the right crowd. Wonder who they were playing with?? Bad Genre mix maybe?? Wish I were there......
