I liked them in '06 AND LISTENED to them harder in '07. It's a very interesting nontraditional ROCK/PROGRESSIVE/ whatever you call it. it may have not worked out for Serj so well, but I really wish he would keep it rolling. He has more then enough talent to keep this style of rock going today!!!!
Ray Reilly Too much to take for the average person. Most innovative bands don't get the credit they deserved. Its called being on a different wavelength.
I'll never forget the first time I heard this song on the radio...I was blown away. One of the most unique rock songs I've heard. This whole album was amazing. Still a banger in 2022
Same, It was something so uniquely different that I was hooked right from the start.. Hell, my entire body was feeling it.. From the back of my neck and ears, to the tips of my fingers and toes, a tingling sensation completely took over and I pretty much feel in love with their sound lmao..
As for the video, the giant helps people move from an unfertile land to a fertile land, where they do well, build a town, etc. Unfortunately, he also unwittingly provided a way for envious raiders (or some kind of antagonists) to get to the village and torch it. This really upsets the giant, and he falls to the ground in sadness/anger/etc. This opens up a fault line, water flows through it, etc. He gets up, finds some of the friendly folks, and he picks them up to go find a nice place somewhere, trudging through thick vines and the like.
My uncle was in this band when they were in high school and about 2 or 3 years after. They got in a fight and he quit.... but he was the drummer. He still rocks the drums! He played very few concerts but still. He did great! In this video he IS the one playing the drums!!! His name is Jason Pintler and I love him to death!!!🥁🥁
Brandon Hackbarth Darroh is amazing! When I first heard them, I thought there were at least two singers. It wasn’t until I saw their music video Musical Chairs did I realize it was all Darroh. Insane talent. And such clever lyrics.
@@m.j.mbrooks1859 he was equally talented live. Saw them years ago when they toured with Flyleaf. Must have been like 2010. His range was just as impressive live. Also met Cliff (guitarist) ended up talking to him for like 30 minutes before their set and about 20 minutes after. Super chill dude.
@@avfd110403 Cliff was the nicest guy I ever met. In 2005, 2006ish me and a group of friends, while in college outside of Dallas went to get some pizza and saw him sitting there by himself eating. Went and struck up a conversation, he asked if we were going to the show that night and we said of course. We talked to him for 20-30 minutes. Sadly that was the only time I saw them live.
Omg, I've been looking for this song for years!!! I used to listen to it all the time and for years couldn't remember the song title or band name. I'm so excited to have found it
Saw them once in concert. Singer looked so scared, nervous, fragile. First note hits of the first song, and this dude comes RUNNIN SENTON straight into us like Darby Allin or Homicide. What a show.
I miss seeing FTM when they came to dallas. Their best show was at Edgefest.. Darroh climbed up the lighting and hung upside down above the stage while still nailing his insane vocals.. I really wish they were still a thing.
The vocalist is exceptionally interesting. He incorporates kind of a weird vibrato in his voice that I've never really heard used before. I kind of like it
Yea I got to meet the whole band in atlantic city they lead off followed by 10 years and then flyleaf but after they played which was awesome so much heavier live but they came out to thier T-shirt and CD stand and actually sold thier own merchandise and I bought this disc and they all signed it for me was a great time
I remember listening to this album with a homie when it first came out and we had it on repeat, He has been gone for 5 yrs and just thinking about the hell we would raise together.
Wondered wtf i was listening the first time I heard this song... listened to it for the 2nd and 3rd time, then listened to the rest of "Fables From a Mayfly" and realized that this is easily one of the best prog rock bands ive ever heard, not that I know too many... xD
I'm glad you found them... All their albums are amazing in their own ways. What you should really focus on are the lyrics, they are true beauty. Daroh and the band write the music so that you can interpret it your own individual way and it'll still be amazing.
TOOL, System of a Down, Rush, Alice In Chains, and a dash of Helmet and you get FTM. The world wasn’t ready and the ones who were are robbed of this brilliance.
I watched them live opening for Serj Tankian and their performance completely overshadowed him - I've never been so in awe of an opening band in my whole life -- talked to them after the show and they were selling merch just to be able to eat and make it to the next stop on tour, but they were better than the act they were setting up.
I remember when a guy I worked with at Starbucks in 2004-06 in Fresno was super tight with FTM, and he got some advance copies of this song and their album and I was blown away. I was sure they were gonna blow up, and I guess that’s the music business
After over two years I discovered this band I'm still so in love with it. When I listen to all their songs, even their old demos, I feel they were different. Music has never touched me so deeply before FTM. If you like them you have to listen to the demos, they're even better than the original songs, they feel a lot more authentic.
I remember the first album Brett gave me, The Carbon Copy Silver Lining. I may still have it on my old mac book but the cd is long gone. I miss it 😢 cant find that album anywhere.
I met Cliff on a Jobsite in Tyler Tx... hes a framer... awesome dude... i was installing cabinets and JAMMING Emery and he came over said hes a huge Emery fan... Hes starting a new heavy rock band!!!
What happened to these guys? I knew that they splitted up some time ago, but what are they doing right now? I wish that there could be a way for me to tell to Darroh and the guys how much this music meant to me back in my high school days..
I can't really find too much info on them. On their wikipedia one of the members is quoted as saying he doesn't really talk with the other guys and they were spread out over the country so I guess they don't stay in contact.
I'm SO HAPPY that I got to see them in concert before they split. They have to be THE MOST UNDERRATED band of all time. Seeing them with 10 Years (seen them four times) was a bonus. c:
FTM have a unique melodic sound and simultaneous synchronicity. Those things mixed together with the lyrical wordplay its an amazing combination to listen to.
The rest of this album is just as good...these guys got me through a rough patch in my life, and I will never forget them..Fair to Midland, FIRE \\\M///
I can remember hearing this for the first time on our local rock station many moons ago, and I was instantly hooked. The lead singers vocals are ones that stick with you..Totally unique. This band was so underrated IMO. This song will always take me back to listening to this with my ex..He has since passed but this song will always take me back to a better time and amazing memories. RIP Michael B...
Saw these guys live with Chevelle in 2008. The lead singer went completely berserk on stage. I've never seen anything like it. This song really stood out live. Very, very good.
Been listening to this band for 16 years and still can't understand how whenever I tell someone to listen to them their response is always, "who the $@#! is that?!?"...shame they had financial problems..
They're otherworldly perfect! Just fuking awesome! I still can't believe they're done... Drowned in debts... They should be rich couse they deserve, they're so very talented and creative, one of the best bands on freaking planet earth!
So underrated. The whole album is perfect from start to finish. I am truly grateful to have gotten to hear this gem of a band. This album has been my rotation for a very long time. It's like a friend to me, I will always love it.
I remember this gym my dad used to take me to in high school that's not open anymore. The music they played was from the XM Radio Rock station and they played this song all time and never said what it was called. Almost ten years later and I have found it. I miss working out at that rundown gym, lol.
Such a shame they broke up, they had such a unique sense for melody. I remember not being able to stop listening to them for about a year after I found them. I highly recommend you to check out Pregnant Whale Pain, they will definitely help fill the void FTM has left. Incredible young band with an original sound, hopefully they don't have to go down the same road as FTM and manage to have a long career.
+Andrew Schumacher Holy fuck. Thank you so much for the rec man. Just listened to a few of their songs, they're brilliant. That half second stop in When Home Is Wrong? holy shit. The singer's vocal range is fucking massive too. I'll be spreading the word about them for sure
+Oswald Norton haha no problem man. So awesome everytime I tell someone about PWP, they're not just liking them but they give me this "holy fucking shit this is amazing" reaction.
I was the same way. A friend had a bootleg he played for me with most of the songs from this album plus some others, which sounded like they recorded themselves. I actually liked that version much better than the way the song ultimately turned out on the final album. Still, an amazing and unique sounding band that always gravitate towards. I hope they come out of hiatus.
My brother and I used to listen to this song on the way to two a day football practice back in 2007. He was a sr and I was a sophomore and it was the best season we had! 🤘
I had this one song in my iTunes since middle school in 2007, now I'm in college and just decided to add the rest of this album and their newest one a few weeks ago. Holy shit this an amazing and unique band all together. If any of you haven't experienced their full albums you are missing out. I highly recommend buying all their songs
If you guys are watching this or looking at comments please get the band back together you are truly missed. You could actually have so many more fans in 2022 with the extensive social media that reaches all directions of the universe. Please come back and make good music! We need this kind of s*** to feel better
Time machine what time of the world you wanna go back to take me back to 2008 so I can go to that Serj Tankian concert where these guys opened and for the first time I've ever heard there music it was mind blowing!
I have always loved this band it's my go to music. They should have got noticed more on their special qualities. Meaningful thought out lyrics, powerful music and an awesome voice. They have/had it all!
This is the only band I have Pre-ordered an album from. Still got my shirt that came with it :D Fair To Midland has always been one of my favorite bands. Their Music can Send me to a beautiful place
My friend told me to look this song up. This has to be the most unique rock sound I've heard. It's like a cross between a bunch of different singers and guitars and epicness. PS the art is amazing
Such an underrated talented band. Sucks bands like this don't get wide exposure. The corporate suits just care about flavor of the moment, autotuned soulless junk to get the green rolling in. Thankfully sites like this allow the music to still be heard. And people somewhere will still discover it and have thier lives enriched. It becomes part of thier soundtrack to life.
I own all their albums. They are all good, very good, BUT this album is CLEARLY their Magnum Opus. simply perfection. Every song is excellent, with this being the crown jewel of the album.
