Mike I want to thank you for these weekly stories. They bring me back to working with my father learning a trade (carpet, tile, and other floor installation). But I get off topic we used to break for lunch everyday at noon and listen to the great Paul Harvey tell The Rest of The Story.
Kevin, I was just thinking the same thing. Not about working a trade with my dad, but how Mike's stories reminded me of Paul Harvey. My dad did love Paul Harvey, and listened as often as he could, and every time I was in the car I had to listen as well. I didn't mind the stories, in fact I always found them interesting, even though I was a snot nose know it all kid.
Amazing story telling as well as an interesting history lesson. Wish my former history classes were one tenth as fascinating as your telling. I might have learned something if they were.
Absolutely love these stories reminds me of Paul Harvey. It takes me back to my childhood driving with my dad to go fishing at Fort Peck, MT or going to my grandparents in Glasgow, MT for hunting season. Listening to these my memory of sitting there with my dad in the driveway if my grandparents home waiting patiently for the famous ending of Paul Harvey, " and that is the rest of the story". Thank you for bringing back such cherished childhood memories of mine! You are the best!
I knew this stories that are familiar from the start. I've actually been to Miranda's grave in Arizona. Read about the story in a book about Arizona history. Thank you Mike, for bringing this out to the Forefront. It is truly an interesting tale of irony.
love seeing you here, miss seeing you on dirty jobs. I will say this you did job's for the show that I would never even try and some that I have done. keep up the good work Mike !
I’ve watched your Dirty Jobs Show and enjoyed it and with your new; “The Way I Heard It.” it’s good to see that you picked up where Paul Harvey left off...
Some of my favorite memories from childhood are from 4pm every afternoon hearing "The Rest Of The Story" with Paul Harvey. Thanks, Mike, for carrying on the tradition...
Great job sweetie.. yes karma always seems to catch up to you in the end. No, it is not wierd you like to listen to twihi. I love listening to it. It always makes me feel calm. Something in your voice is very soothing.
I absolutely love this one - having friends & family in law enforcement, I always wondered about that. I've always been fascinated with the history & backstory to everything. My personal favorite was story of Jim Morrison's father's involvement in the Gulf of Tonkin.
Ernie learned the hard way - when karma don't like your @$$, she aint no fun. I totally didn't see the twist coming. So now I know. Thanx once again Mike
Thanks for doing the research and bringing these bits and pieces of context and history to us, your fans. I discovered your podcast thanks to a couple of friends who are also podcasters and have been a fan ever since. I hope your sponsorship with the various companies who bring us the 'cast keeps going. I know nothing lasts forever, but I sure hope this podcast comes close!
I never thought I'd enjoy history again. Thank you! You should come visit me when I get to North Carolina for my neck surgery.. it doesn't look like my family will be able to come with me. I'll get my appointment date, hopefully, on Monday.
Fair warning, there's a giant Batman head over your right shoulder yelling at you (or maybe us, or Ernie). Okay, so it's an optical delusion made of lighting and warped focus, but watch out!
