Life is a strange thing. It's a Wonderful Life is my favorite movie, holiday or not. I think Jimmy Stewart, a hero, made that movie great. Not so much the snow flakes. Thank for the story Mike Rowe, it was awesome.
I have seen 'It's a Wonderful Life' so many times I can probably keep up to the dialogue, even the part where Old Mr Gower smacks him on the ear. Yes it is a sappy movie, yes it is old and campy. but it does have that lesson that everyone has a connection in this world. Thanks for the trip down memory lane and the lesson, Mike Rowe you are a Wonderful person, Merry Christmas to you and your Family.
Aw! Sweet! I figured it out when he said critics panned a movie with fake snow. Francisco was Frank. Yep, Frank Capra. We watched the movie on our honeymoon in Colonial Williamsburg on December 20, 2006 in a little theater. It was standing room only. Crystal clear, remastered and cleaned up sound. Like a brand new movie! Hearing the audience react to the wonderful scenes was a highlight. Thanks, Mike.
Mike, in the years you’ve spent at the Marine Corps Ball in San Francisco you’ve inspired my son to be better. He’s now a Second Lieutenant in the Marines. I myself am a Marine and proud to show it. My son served enlisted as a reserve Military Intelligence Operator and has since educated and improved himself. He set to start flight school in Pensicola, FL soon and who knows from there. Your speaking and videos such as these inspired him to do more. Thank you!
That was/is my ultimate go-to Christmas film to watch every Christmas. This backstory is amazing and it blows my mind that it's public domain! Unless I misunderstood something - lol.

Thank you to that anonymous clerk who let the copyright lapse.... I watched a colorized version this year, for the first time, what a difference it makes... I didn't think I could enjoy the movie any more than I have over the years, but colorizing it highlights a lot of the background that is pretty amazing.... Thank you Mike for this series, I look forward to every new episode...
And my wife & I just watched that this past weekend, along with White Christmas. Most years I miss both of them. A classic that needed a generation or 2 to catch up to it before it was appreciated. One of my favorite films, next to White Christmas and Miracle On 34th Street.

I knew within 5-10 seconds that you were talking about "It's a Wonderful Life." A few years ago I was in a musical adaptation of the story called "Miracle in Bedford Falls." I performed the role of Uncle Billie. As part of my role research, I developed a theory on why Uncle Billie doesn't appear in the "alternate time-line." It all had do do with Peter's death.
I worked with Dieter Sturm from Lake Geneva Wisconsin. He got a technical Oscar to developing biodegradable fake snow in the 80’s. They call him the snowman

I adore the movie it's a Wonderful Life. My Christmas 🎄 isn't complete without it. Thank you Mike Rowe for giving me a history lesson on this. I always saw something different in that old movie and never gave it too much thought. But now I know. It was the snow all along. Now I must go find my old VHS tape and watch this movie. Somethings I just can't let go of yet. Progress is not always the better way for me. But one question. Who bought it and keeps it from running on every channel somewhere at any time? I think Ted Turner keeps it locked away except for maybe one showing a year.

That’s a fair rate! But my bank with my car as collateral gave me a rate of 3.49% on a loan of $8,000 for 22 months. Now if that 6.9% has no collateral to back it up, it is a great deal. Yes, a typical credit card is an average of 19.9% that can rise to 29.9% even if one is paying on time. I do not understand how the banks can slowly change their rates a percentage but I have seen it happen even with online bill payment before due date. So I corrected my one mistake and obtained a “hard” loan at the 3.49% and paid the$8,000 off now the offending credit card shall never ever again get any interest as my punishment to them for creeping interest rates. Hahahaha to them!!!!! Short term greed cost them long term loss. Now they will only get the 3.5% merchant fees of convenient use by me and a pay off monthly!
Barbara Houk there is also a difference between Simple and Revolving interest. Credit card interest is accrued daily while car & home loans are accrued once per month. 15% of simple interest is better than 5% of revolving interest.
As I sit here watching old episodes of Dirty Jobs, and seeing how nonfiction TV is falling apart I don't blame you for leaving with a fundamental change staring you in the face. However I must say, if you started it up again on RU-vid, I think you would grow into a new kind of following. But that's just my opinion.
