Thanks for hanging in there guys and girls, I know it's been a while since my last video but its just that time of the build where it's slow progress combined with work and a busy time of year. Sit back, relax and hopefully you all get something out of this one.

Hi Mark, I just started watching your series a couple of weeks ago. I've finally caught up and am blown away by the job you've done. Amazing work and dedication, I reckon you'll have the strongest Haines on the water. Keep going mate you're nearly there. So many unfinished project boats on Markesplace

I have built 2 fishing boat and 3 ski boat plugs. Basically a boat crafted from wood, painted, polished, waxed then molds made. Do not miss it one bit. Nice job so far ✅

Gday mate sanding is mind numbing on all my boats that have been fiberglass i used resin with styrene so it would harden of then sand before putting any more coats of glass on ,i had to do the transom on the haines i did and it was a pain geting the surface flat i actually doubled up the timber so it was a full 36mm transom across the back and that was glassed together then screwed then completely glassed ( i go over the top) it was heavy but strong as it was great when finished last i heard about it was it was sitting under a plastic tarp on a vacant block very sad . when your finished youll look back and realize it was all worth the itchies and stress and you will have bragging rights when someone asks "oh who built this " my latest reno is finished and at 64 i think it may be the last one im getting to old and get to sore for this game anymore but ill probably see another bargain and it will all start again hahaha .

I've only faired 1 boat and took me months of sanding. I'd be looking for a lighter option than those 2x4 timbers haha.

Blade putty is good for filling smaller imperfections.

What do you think are the best sanding discs for sanding back the gel coat and fibreglass
@ADVENTURES_ADRIFT
@ADVENTURES_ADRIFT 6 месяцев назад
Hey mate, if your talking about removal of old gelcoat and glass I would use a grinder with very course sanding pad 16-36 grit depending on how much to want to take off.

@@ADVENTURES_ADRIFT thanks mate ..I have been using a flapper disc in some areas but it is a bit harsh and I have to be careful not to make the issue worse . Thanks for your advice it is appreciated

3m cubitron3 pads are by far the best pads for resin/glass/flow coat they are 80grit and with an interface pad on your orbital can get round corners easily
