This game definitely proves that "less is more" with horror. That white demon was terrifying with nothing more than pixels and amazing sound. Having a monster you see too clearly/with too much detail, no matter how good it looks, can kill the fear of it. The unknown is scary. Don't show off the monster too much, because the player's imagination fills in the blanks with more terrifying things than can actually be portrayed.

I find it neat though that they went out of their way and designed a proper speech using 8 bit sounds

It's probably already been mentioned but Snake Meadow Hill Road is a road in the state of Connecticut, located in the town of Sterling. The person who made this clearly was from the area but it's kind of nifty to see something like this being from the area myself. Knowing where that is and having traveled it before, it's a pretty wooded area so it's a good setting for something like this.

This game definitely is unsettling.

I'm thinking the white demon that kept showing up was Michael from the last ending you got. Then it would make sense why he was chasing and trying to kill anyone who looks like a priest. Not sure I understand what the black shadow was, though. Maybe the ghost of whoever was torturing Michael? And perhaps the orange/red body that you shot was supposed to be a fetus that Amy buried? I think it's implied that Amy got an abortion and her parents didn't approve. So if you destroy that, then demons show up and the main character is haunted by his actions? I found it extremely creepy that the main character was implied to only be dressed as a priest and not actually ordained - which means he was probably in on whatever happened to Amy and possibly the other boy. It's more creepy cause it could happen in real life.

Cant believe how much atmosphere you can create with this kind of pixel graphics. I love it. Im so glad someone makes an example, so people might make more games with different graphic styles.

I haven't seen anyone mention this but you're 'she was really funny' comment when the note said Mrs Martin was hysterical actually got a laugh out of me and was pretty funny. The little things don't go unnoticed :)

I would love to see some theories about some of the endings of this game. I specially liked the... white person-like things that kept saying pretty interesting things to the priest (my favs: 'father', 'you dont love me' and 'worship me'). I feel like there's a lot to be explored here and the faceless gray people as well, without giving away everything in a silver plate, you know? Also, the letter about Michael, someone I dont remember in the game. I thought it was one of the kids but I went back and saw their name is Jason and Nate so there goes my theory. Very little scares me when it comes to horror games/movies. That white thing/creature gives me the fucking creeps though. I hate that something that is no more than a few pixels scares me so much. Being an avid watcher of this channel actually makes me embarrassed that it did/does.

Absolutely loved this game, The white and yellow "thing" made me so happy and scared. I am in love with the music. So what if it's retro? That gives this game has SO much character and love. But, the white and yellow "thing" made me think It was saying "I am the sheep" or "father" to possibly taunt the priest. And NOOOOOOOOO because It possibly hurt to be clean. Many questions are asked.

I don't think a pixel game has ever scared me quite this much. And that rendition of Moonlight Sonata in bit music is quite beautiful, while also carrying a sense of dread. Real nice stuff going on, here.

Not gonna lie. Watching this video late at night yesterday I got to 15:20 and that animation affected me so much I immediately closed the video without hesitation. Absolutely terrible. The game on the other hand is amazing. It showcases the true meaning of "making more with less", considering the graphics are as minimal as you could get but it still not only has atmosphere, but actual gameplay! It even has different endings. A great game. Too bad that I'm not brave enough to actually try out stuff like this

I was very VERY confused because I was convinced you'd played this one??? But then I realised that was a Halloween stream from Spacehamster... I think..... I'm still having a massive deja vu moment and currently questioning my reality but I'm PRETTY sure that's what happened.

I think that the funny deer ending actually references Oregon Trail, when you hunt in that game you typically only get to carry back some of the meat you gain which was always a frustrating but sort of understandable part of the game. I hope it was in reference to that because I found it hilarious if it was!!

Amazing game. The creator did an amazing job with this game. There are few pixel horror games that actually scare the shit out of you and this is definitely one of them. I’m halfway done with the video but I’m quite amazed so far.

What a neat, fun game. I got so much nostalgia watching it. It reminded me of the games I played with my brother on his Amstrad 64, when I was a child. They were simple but enjoyable games like Dizzy, Roland in time, and Jet Set Willy. Thank you for being awesome John.
