Yup, a cover indeed. Original recorded by The Commodores, Lionel Richie’s old band. FNM might have raised some eyebrows when they remained so heavily true to the original. Expectations were probably that they would add more rock and metal elements. But personally, I think Mike has a great ability to pull off such a lighter crooner vocal style. One of the things that makes him so interesting as a vocalist- all the different types of voices he can use. But, I wanted to mention I just read a ‘Rolling Stone’ interview with him. He’s opened up about some recent hard times he experienced. Such as being diagnosed with agoraphobia during the pandemic. He spent a lot of time writing and recording by himself because he developed a real fear of being around others and social situations. But thankfully, he also sought help for the issue, and has been overcoming it enough to hopefully get back to touring and returning to his past ways of creating music.

It’s the Commodores but is a fabulous cover. They played it to the T which I don’t like covers doing but Patton’s inflection changes it and the guitar and piano. Screams! Great job. I always liked this version

Well that cameraman is doing fine... In another festival Mike climbed a camera crane while singing with the microphone stuck in his mouth....

Sometimes this can be good for a show. I did this many times as a guitarist. Problem is some times I got messed up because I couldn’t get back to my stomp pad. Also I really hated that rhythm players followed me instead of them keeping time. So when they followed me and I needed a rythem I had nothing to got too. Drummers and bassists must lock and be the beat. It sucks when drummers play to guitarists and not the other way around. P.a. Listen to Patton do Opera lol

The cover is superior. FNM, when asked how they chose their cover songs, like this and Black Sabbath's War Pigs, said they were great songs but fell around laughing at the original versions.

I like reviews of live performances, but this is one of the sloppiest renditions of Easy I’ve heard from FNM. Patton’s voice sounded tired and Jon ended the solo with a flub that sounded he threw off the whole band. 😂 Gentle Art - not the smoothest performance, but fun as heck. David there a lot of toxic fans out there. You’re a brave man. I do react videos too, and there are some delusional groups out there. I had some pretty nasty messages from quite a few different fan bases.
