Mike said he would sleep in his car all around the town he was living in at the time and people watch. That this song is about the people he would see. He was kind of going for a country-western trucker diner vibe with the music itself
Roxanne is a rockstar for being all this Mike Patton to your channel. I’m here for it! Dare you try The Dillinger Escape Plan featuring Mike Patton- When Good Dogs Do Bad Things.? It’s fucking intense!
@@roxannemitchell4119 I hear ya! Patton has been one of my main dudes since I was a kid. First cassette tape I ever bought on my own was The Real Thing when I was in Elementary School. The second I’d ever bought was Angel Dust.
@@southbayspike Yeah same, I've loved FNM and Bungle for as long as I've loved music, I'm just as passionate about them as I was on day 1, isn't that amazing, they just never get old
Well I could tell you weren't feeling it, I didn't think you would like this one to be fair, this was more for the people asking for it, it's a bit of a fan favourite and I wish you had enjoyed it, it's actually a pretty deep song and the lyrics are really great, this is one song where I wish you'd have done the lyrics because I think they are quite special but oh well, maybe try another listen because this song is a grower 😎 Anyway thank you for the reaction, I always enjoy them, looking forward to next request, I know you're gonna love that one 😃
I love this song, one of my favourites from a standout album. I love the melody and how inaccessible the song is when you first listen to it. After first listening to the album, it’s one of the first songs you write off as just filler, come the 5-6th time after listening to the album you find that this is the song that sticks in your head and you find yourself singing to yourself lol
@@Manuz-fs9iu Yeah i agree it sounds better after listening a few times and I spoke to JR and he said he liked it better after listening again so that's pretty cool
Mike is the best at storytelling through others eyes. This is one of the best examples of that...this album was Mike's album. This album was a drastic departure to pop-alt rock that got them noticed. Keep digging into more from this album! :)
What’s genius about this song, is it is their take on country western, almost poking a little fun at it, the piano sounds like you were walking into a saloon in the wild west in the late 1800s, and then the country music side, is complaining, lost my dog, my truck blew up, girlfriend left me, they truly are geniuses, they didn’t get as popular as some of the main stream bands of their time because they’re a bit more to digest as you can see, yet genius
You should listen to it again while reading the lyrics. This is a portrait of a very specific kind of American male and it's pretty clever. It's quite poignant too, especially when you hear the last line and realize that it's about the cycle of self-imposed futility and that his kids might have escaped it.
so dope that you do faith no more. altough i 40 i still have my mike patton poster from the 90ies, he's a fucking genius! so i would freak out (just pure joy, don' get me wrong ;-)) if you would do a reaction to midlife crisis or everythings ruined, the titles say it all!
It's so funny how apparently the ability to spell is so above your mental 'capacity'. Never throw stones while residing in a glass house, my friend. You only make yourself look that more idiotic.
For a long time it was easily my least favourite, but really it's the best. It's a piece of art, and I love how he makes trailer trash a sympathetic character. Love the way he builds up the chorus each time he sings it too.
