FAKE! Fender Yngwie Malmsteen Stratocaster, Will it play? 

I own the guitar and bought two of them. Yes, I did ask the manufacturer to not logo the guitar and most likey will sand that off. I was just looking to test out a scalloped neck but for the price.....the whole guitar came. The trem (not really FL) is the same replacement one for $30-$50 on Amazon or flee bay. I will be replacing the pickups and doing additional neck work. The bar goes in the trash on both and I will get an insert for the new bar plus a trem locker. The other one did have some truss rod issuses and I got them figured out and took the back bow out of the neck. The guitar has a lighter touch and the scalloped neck gives almost too much purchase on the string. One of the main issuses I found is the vibrato on a bent sting (insert any Gary Moore song here) is harder to control because the grip is easier. The other concern and the reason for the heavy gauge strings is chord pressure pushing down too hard on the string (pitch change). Now the best part of the guitar, what Dane showed while playing, is pull-offs, hammer-ons, slides and bending are way easier and close counts. The trade-off is your palm muting needs to be on point and my noise gate has a new enemy. Dane did a great job above my expectations, I did not expect him to take it easy on the guitar or sugarcoat what it "is". The best part of the video is I got to learn how to overcome challenges and watch Dane put his best efforts forward.

I've got one without the signature & it plays fine on a genuine Fender body with standard Fender trem loaded with Seymore Duncans!

I was wondering how you would check to see if the neck needed adjustment. Do they make a tool for this type of neck or do you just go off measuring on top of the frets?

Sometimes the frets will lift a little bit if you take a hammer and just tap on the frets most of the time thay will level out love your videos keep up the great work

You have to have a string retainer on any guitar with a Floyd Rose, specially a Strat with 0 headstock angle because there isn't enough angle to force the strings down far enough to touch the back of the nut slots where they must be to get rid of the buzz. The buzz comes from not enough tension on the strings making them bounce off the frets, a good fret job will help bit even that won't counteract the need for a string retainer. I don't understand why China can't at least figure these basic fundamentals out, they figure out how to steal and copy everything but functionality! This isn't aimed at you Dane you did what you could do with crap to start with, not to mention how it's retarded to put a Floyd and humbucker on an Yngwie Strat, that's sacrilege!

Many of the inexpensive bridges have those crazy angle bars that need to bent. The string locks often don't hold the string in place 100% and cover tightening will crack the string block, or even the saddle. But otherwise these inexpensive guitars can be OK. I have had to level frets on brand new brand name guitars in the past. 🍻

Don't you know that you should put tape over those pickups because little metal pieces will get down i there and mess up the sound of the pickups

Pickups and Floyd give it away it’s not real but that neck and fret setup was terrible for sound. I hope he didn’t pay full price.

I like fake strats because they reproduce the original (Fullerton) shape of the body. When CBS sold Fender in 1985 strats never looked the same again. They became ugly the upper horn has been lowered, the overall body shape changed as if it was "jazzbassized", all strats, US, mexican & even chinese Squier. This one looks fantastic, so beautiful, like a real original stratocaster built in Fullerton ! With the work you did on it to me it's more worthy than any custom shop US strat.

The only thing that guitar has in common with a Yngwie strat is the scollops and absolutely nothing else not even the sunburst or color of the pickguard and knobs even if that wasn’t Chinese

Dude!! Algorithms, I bought a fake on Ali express one this year because scallops.. and now I went ahead and bought the genuine thing, & I can't wait for it to arrive this week in the mail! That's the problem, there's usually no other way to try scalloped frets, especially here in Canada. But even the Chinese copy wasn't bad.. I did a few things to make it look legit but the tremolo system isn't really functional as along with staying in tune. But you're gunna get an American made Strat quality and playabiliy with the real deal, can't wait!

I don't like scallops that much, but the rustier Floyd Rose ain't worth making jokes of the japanese signature copy good.

I've seen other reviews of these and they are all classic strats, not hss floyd super strats. I think it is a partscaster

I've never seen Yngwie play a Strat like that. How is it a signature model?

How could that be advertised as a YJM guitar? The only thing that resembles one of those is the head stock and the scalloped neck… Everything else is just weird.

I could already tell it was a fake Malmsteen as: 1. The Malmsteen is NOT available in a sunburst color option and 2. The real (and the majority of the fake) Malmsteen’s do not use a Floyd Rose system.

Not a fan of such counterfeits, although I do appreciate the work you did to make this one playable. What a mess it was. Having one of these in your arsenal and trying to pass it off as the real deal is not cool. I hope the owner at least stamps or marks the back of the headstock with "FAKE" or "COUNTERFEIT". Even "Chibson" or "Counterfender" is better than passing off a fake as real. Many folks have different takes on these things, but there is a difference when comes down to emulating or paying tribute to a brand versus an outright ripoff of the actual brand-name and its models, however poorly or well-executed they may be. Ok, getting off my soapbox now 😂😂

no guitar is fake... it is you who coined it... whoever made it, he/she is not a fake human... even if it resembles as a copy of your brand, it is a true guitar... it may or may not sound like your brand, but it is a true guitar and some people buy it because it is cheap... cheap yes because the appointment consist of cheap materials.... cheap because labor is not as high your labor cost

such poor cheap materials on that thing. Intonation is obviously way out just by looking at the bridge. The locking nut is poorly installed. Needs a complete fret level and fret dress. The set up that this thing needs to really be right, I probably would be charging about $275 or possibly more. Also, Yngvie hates Floyd Rose Bridges and believes that the the Fender Synchronized Trem is the best trem bridge you can get. This gentleman that purchased this would have been better off buying from sweetwater and paying over time for a real Yingvie guitar.
