This is the type of BGMWSS I'd like to see again, great stuff. Would love a best of BGMWSS series where we return to the best strategies with more games.
Agreed with both of your points! I could watch this challenge multiple times, and a few others. (I really wanna see the A move only one again with the camera on the units, AFK series as always, etc)
Hey Harstem, is there any possibility you could do a video explaining the meta strategies that take place in best of 5's and best of 7 matches? It would be awesome to have an explanation of how pro's actually approach best of 5s and 7s in terms of strategy selection for each game over the whole match. We hear commentators mention it all the time about how best of 5's/7ns are different to ladder because of the meta game that can be played over the whole match but none really go into any detail (probably because they just don't know or don't have the experience).
Meta in bo5/7? No. It's all about playing more matches in a row to win whole battle against ladder where you play now really. What commentators mean is you have to use different strat each game in bo3:7 because otherwise you will get countered to hell. Notice how Clem vs Raynor plays. Never twice strat on same map.
This guy is a genius. somehow after forgetting all his tech buildings, he hallucinates an oracle then a million probes, bothers to fake a misrally, hallucinates warp prisms and colossi, then gets no kills at all with a disruptor shot, and still wins the game. This is the content i'm subbed for :)
Idea 💡 Send 2 probes immediately across the map have one probe block the natural, and the other proxy a gateway. Then send it to help block the natural. Crono out a sentry and forcefield the ramp, while making another sentry. The goal is the hold the ramp as long as possible in the early game and force the opponent to take the 3rd for a natural or lock him in his base for a few minutes. Note - Only for pvp and pvz.
Watching you play this though.. Makes me miss when I could play at Masters level. Ever since I had my first ( of seven ) surgery my ability to play the game went down the drain.. Once in a while I am able to play at that level but its few and far between.. It upsets me to no end..
A spin-off of this would be to rush sentries and hallucination a couple of probes and Harris the enemy mineral line with them. The default action to take when this happens is to attack with your own miners which is minerals lost.
Ahm,i.guess you could pull all the real probes from your natural, throw them on your 3rd base, and then send the fake ones in your natural(as a result you will be mining from 2 bases and the opponent will definitely see that you are gathering from your 3rd as well
Yeah or develop a timing where he sees fake probes long distance mining (patrol) from 3rd as it is building. Then cancel base as you move out to have even more moneys
maybe mass hallucinated probes from a warp prism would be a good way to stop a zerg army retreating instead of a force field. I could see some potential in blocking a spot the way Zergs do with changelings
I think you've discovered some practical uses for one of the most underappreciated mechanics in starcraft. I love hallucinations and I've only seen one person like neeb or someone hallucinate 4 Colossus to force a GG
Dear Harstem, an idea for this series could be: “Hide a nexus in your opponent’s base, cut probes production and build 2 gateways. When the nexus finishes, Recall all your workers and the zealots made in your opponent’s main”
Hey Harstem! I'm not sure how relevant it will be, but what if you play as neuroscientist Pierre Patrol, the man who binds his A-key to Patrol and cannot issue attack commands? Pierre Patrol believes in UNITY and INTELLIGENCE OF THE MANY. Soldiers should be able to act without you commanding them! Your defenses should consist largely out of patrolling units, and you will patrol your warriors into battle! It'll be stupid gimmick, but stupid is what the series is for, eh?
I have not done a stunt like that since beta.. XD ( Used to also put baneling mines all over the place and manually detonate them.. But keep in mind this was really low end in the beta.. I doubt I could get away with that stuff in higher rank.. ) Oh and.. Keep in mind.. The probe thing.. I had did a mass hallucination of probes in an attack. Not to fake me having more workers. *EDIT* ( By beta.. I meant way back in Wings of Liberty Beta.. )
Would be so funny if ur opponet saw them and tried to be nice and tell you.. but then you couldnt make them mine lol and have to just be like "yea, weird.." and then not fix it lol
Did Harstem went through anger management class? He's giving away a suspiciously high amount of compliments. It's like someone hold him in a basement for a while or something.
hallucinate a strong/expensive defensearmy + shieldbattery, so he wont attack you, but invest your real money into a hidden proxynexus. Maybe you need to spread out some scout-scout-units to make the hallucinations at the right time. And real Stalkers to limit his scout-time.
I love playing sc coop, but fail really hard when playing 1v1 on the ladder - still love ur vids though. Now that i have established that i am a noob, from watching your vids i think that you could improve your winrate by optimizing some strange builds like this or other bgwss ideas. As you often say, this game seems to be figuered out, so i think that out of the box play on a high level does more than nailing build orders perfectly. Would be interesting to know if imam completely off track or if this could work.
"The imbalanced wall" - wall of your natural with building however you like, but make it STRONG!! No units in the wall allowed and it has to hold until the end of the game. Better build a prism to get some probes to your third... ;)
What about using hallucinated probes other way around - make like 20 of them and maybe like 2 stalkers or something, move with all army towards enemy base so opponent think you "pulled the boys" and what he has to do is defend, so he add spines/cannons like crazy while you tech up and expand behind this and just turn back with your army right after he notices whats going on?
Suggestions: mono army at a time So you're only allowed to mass one unit at a time if you want to switch you must commit to the new unit and can never make the original again Unlimited switches but you will burn your choices Old units should basically be traded near the same time as building the new unit choice
With the low graphic settings, it is very hard to see the probes holding minerals on 2000 atmospheres at the natural and 3rd. If you patrol the probes back and forth to the nexus, I think it would really believable. Having "miss rallied" probes makes someone think something is up while seeing the probes moving might cause for someone to spend less time looking at the details of the probes
Here is a challenge. It's called Sacrifice. Every time you want to attack your opponent, you need to sacrifice a worker. You must send a worker before your army to be sacrificed by your opponents army, and only once the worker has died, can you reveal your army and attack.
Next SS: Zeus is on your side. Build only archons and templars to show the enemy what awesome power lightning is. You can build a few other unit types in the start of the game because Zeus did get some of bastards. Zeus can also fly, so a few Warp Prisms are also okay.
Skytoss but half the voids are hallucinations. Sweep in with an unreasonably large fleet of voids, half of which are fake, either in one bit attack or use the fake fleet as a bluff to draw off defenders and crack the other flank with the real ones.
Hi. Should I post it as a coment on every video or that was already noticed? I have an idea for BGMWSS. Protoss creep. You can use pylon to power only one building and power areas of pylons should not overlap. That will make your base huge.
Suggestion for new episode: SimCity Deluxe Pylons are only allowed in the main base. If you want to build something (except Nexus and Assimilator as they don't require the power field) outside your main base, you will have to power them with a warp prism.
This makes me wonder, why do we always hallucinate a Phoenix to scout? Why not hallucinate an Oracle each time to make the opponent nervous? They're the same speed right?
There are OTHER options to take this farther. Recall recalls hallucinationas also. no need to let him know the hallucinated warp prism and two void rays are fake. Just put them in a stupid place and recall them.
Hallucination is pretty underused spell in sc2... you could make enemy think you are going 5 Colossi, even though you go disruptors for example, or something like that or zealots to make your army look bigger/to tank some damage
BGWSS idea: NEXUS OF THE PAST (like the co-op mission) As early as you can, build a nexus in the middle of the map. You must defend this nexus at all costs, bonus points for luring the enemy to the nexus, then using Recall offensively.
My brother watches 5 minutes of a game and is says, "I would abandon my base and start from the normal 4th." So basically pull all the probes but 2 and start from the forth. The Couch Coach.
BGMWSS idea: Play defensive macro game (you're allowed all units at this stage for staying alive) go to 5-6 bases quickly and take all the gas geysers start massing archons and win with them You can't attack with anything else than Archon.
What about doing this fake a different way and just transfer probes from main to third early. You still get the whole worker fake thing, but without requiring all the sentries and hallu energy.
Suggestion: "🔒🔒🔒Locking yourself out challenge🔒🔒🔒" Full wall-off your own main base and you can only move in and out of your main base with a warp prism. Additional levels of difficulty: * No warp gate * Production structures must be built in main base * No mass recall * No stargate units * No blink or shadow stride
Yesterday I watch "Is it imba or do I suck" where the complaint is the opponent isn't playing the way they should do. Today I see Harstem playing the same. I think you might be getting worse at this game by all the influence from bad players.
