I love the way Leonardo and Christopher laugh on the way out while the mother is disappointed and walks past. That expression "I can't believe you really did that, and got away with it for a week. Impressive."
I have the same relationship with my son. He’s made a fool of the system several times; I even had to hire lawyers to protect him from retribution. Today’s teachers are a nasty bread of self-righteous morel preachers, and my son made complete fool of them. Lesson: never mess with a child whose IQ is double your own.
No it was funnier than that. It wasn’t a french bakery, that would at least make sense. It was a french bread factory. Something that actually has nothing to do with french other than it’s name.
I'd be a LITTLE worried lol. I'd be like, "I get the feeling my son is destined for a life of crime...but he's gonna be a hell of a criminal." No parent wants to stymie their child's potential after all. 😄
@@marcschneider4845I think.you need to get checked out for TDS. It is a serious mental condition that blocks the rational side of your brain. Most doctor offices have two seperate entrances as there have been a terrible history of craziness when those who suffer from TDS and those who suffer from maga worship when they see each other while going to get their treatment.
That moment.. with his dad at the end.. is so special. It always makes me smile. Christopher Walken coming out, looking all disappointed… then that little grin. I love this scene.
It's a classic alright. A classic FRAUD! When Frank Abagnale was asked about details of his wild claims, he 100% failed to correctly answer things. Things like what floor did you work on or what did your boss look like etc. Turns out Frank Abagnale LIED about EVERYTHING in this movie.
@@PunkDogCreations I said nothing remotely derogatory about God. Nothing. And - any God that is harmed by a mortal's mere words - isn't a God but rather a weak putz administering a weak, frail, hypocritical religion . In this contests I was using God's name to celebrate and cheer. Go back and read your talking points. Stick to "noun, verb, rapture"....and then monitor the record porn subscriptions in the most "Godly" states - along with divorces too :)
He gave the real teacher a weeks vacation, and he is clearly smart enough to teach the material and he did it for free, the school should be happy with him
If the teacher listed all my lad had done and then asked me if i could see the problem he had....my honest answer would be " No. Get him on the payroll immediately before someone else hears about it. Looks like youve fell on your feet here." Id still clip him round the earhole for his cheek on way out !
Not these days. Nowadays it would constitute fraud and there would be a ton of trouble to spread around a number of people, most going to the con-artist.
If you think about it that's the only way it would make sense. Because if there wasn't gonna be a substitute teacher but a regular one then he wouldn't be able to talk himself out of the situation
"You see what the problem is?" Yeah. Your desk is too tall, your glasses are too large, and your classes are so easy that a junior can pick up and teach them more effectively than the original teacher did.
@@clarissamendoza8322 That doesn't change that a teenager with no teaching formation handled the class, teaching a language is more complicated that speaking it, it's impressive (i talk french myself, but wouldn't know how to teach it to someone)
@@guifire9747 teaching a language is more complicated if you're actually trying to get results yes but most school curriculums don't produce such results, even polyglots say they never learned much in the way of languages in school because more often than not it's monotonously trudging through textbooks
I've done something like this once in college, a professor asked me to help carry his computer bag and books to his class as I walked into the room and all the students went to their seats and silent.. I looked at them and thought to myself "I could stretch this more"... So I cleaned the whiteboard slowly then looked at the student again with a serious face then it all end when the professor arrived.. Everyone laughed at the end 😂
If the director would ask me as the father "you see were the problem is?" i would've answered "yes... you owe my son a week paymend" Edit: for all the gramma neurotics, i hope you are happy now and can continue your live without the nightmares of my english skills. English is not my mother toungue so get over it.
There might be some bloopers with that in it however this may be based loosely on real life, I know some aspects of the story were altered for the movie! IF the father had said this, his son Frank may have gotten into more trouble!
My answer would have been, "Yes, I see a problem. Inside of a week, my son organized a class trip. The problem is that your regular teacher can't do that with a year's planning."
@@stephenwoehr6500 Well students generally like field trips as they get time off school. The principal said he was planning on organizing a field trip!
You can tell dad is impressed and proud 😂 Thats what being a parent is all about. Recognising their talents whatever they be and appreciating the effort.
That laugh was the same laugh my parents gave me when we left school after I’ve gotten into a fight . The disappointed look in front of the teachers and the laugh after followed by “ did you win “ 🤣
When I daughter got into a fight at school I looked all pissed off in front of the teachers and the principal but when we got home I asked her did she win... LOL!
My older brother did that to me repeatedly throughout High School, or smack between my legs. While I stood at my locker talking to my girlfriend. Then he did it 3 times as an adult while under the influence of OH. The first two times resulted in a bar fight and the third time I walked away and it was the last I spoke to him, 28 years ago. He bullied and held me down for the first 17 years of sharing a bedroom. But I took that experience and became the first State Champion Wrestler in our schools history. Then went on to become a physician and father of two well adjusted adult children withOUT additions.
Beautiful acting. Kid is as confident as can be but when it comes to his father he cares deeply about what he thinks of him. He looked at his dad and waited for his reaction. The sweet relief that his father was impressed and found humor in it all.
I actually worked on catch me if you can. My family's construction business performs work on locations and I personally worked on the airport location which was the old Ontario Airport terminal and the hospital location which I can't remember where it was located. The hospital had been closed and vagrants stole all of the circuit breakers so we had get power working in the areas they were filming in. I met Leonardo Dicaprio and talked ti him a few times during filming.
That ending laugh between them two was golden, thought he was gonna give him a world of negativity in the form of discipline & lecturing, the alternative energy was comforting.
Christopher Walken is a legend; how many facial expressions, mannerisms and body language nuances does he pull off in just 5 seconds; just a master at his craft. It's amazing how humble a lot of these legendary actors are as they didn't give into all the glowing and well earned reviews. To them it was their job to convince us they were who we saw; and they nailed it. Hard to see them all slowly retiring but relaxing in their hard earned sunset years.....sigh.
As a son and father of a son, that last part with him and Walken, priceless!!! That simple look, laugh and jester means 1000s of words from father to son. Fckn love it!!!
This happened with my daughter when she was in first grade. I came to school in the afternoon to pick her up, and saw her in front of the classroom looking at me in fear. I was like “oh no, what happened?” Her teacher brought me inside and told me that when a bigger girl told my daughter to hand over her lunch money my daughter put her knuckles in her face and told her to “fuck off”. I tried to be serious but let out a long hard laugh, and her teacher couldn’t hold it in and started laughing too. I’m gonna get a bad parent comment from someone here in the comments for what I’m about to say, but I took my six year girl to an ice cream parlor for what she did,and I congratulated her for standing up for herself. We both decided not to tell mom for obvious reasons.
I think I underrated this movie the first time I watched it. Nowadays I see every single second makes sense within the plot, acting is awesome... it's perfect!
Anyone noticed how Frank spelled Abagnale with a capital “N”? But thanks to his confidence, no one notice the mistake, which is technically the whole point of the movie.
Worst I did was get into fight. Expelled for 3 days. I took my buddies schedule from a different school, chopped off the top part that had his info on it, and went to school with him for a day. One teacher was like “I told them I’m not accepting anymore students in this class, go to the principal and let him know this”. I went to the library instead and waited for my next class.
For real this happens, once I got suspended for missing attendance in a class, exam was near but teacher wouldn't let me in, a friend from another group told me his schedule for that application, we were on the same year and I went with him during his class, same app but different teacher. He either didn't know or didn't care I was not from the class so I passed the exam pretty easily because I studied with another teacher lol. It's cool something similar happened to you, cheers to this new year!
"do you see the problem we have?" Yeah the same problem we have in real life. Public schools are trash and that kid pretending to be a teacher was better than the real teachers
The dad's look on his face is priceless... he's so proud and impressed by his son in a weird way... if only they knew to send their son to acting or Hollywood, I'm sure their son Leo would have a great career 😆
Okay but can we appreciate that the bullies are the most jocky jock and the nerdy nerd? Like… what an alliance. They run this school with an iron fist and Are always ten steps ahead of everyone else mentally.
“He’s planning a class field trip to a french bread factory in Trenton. Do you see the problem we have here?” That was the point to respond “not really, he sounds like a really great teacher.” And looking at his Dad at the end, he certainly thinks so!
And Frank Abagnale improvised, adapted and overcame to instill the most innovative security protocols that still are used today. Thank you Mr Abagnale, You Rock!!!
I love how he held on for a week without getting caught and so decided to step up his game and call the parents themselves to see if they would believe him. Which I think worked because their concern was probably because of the field trip to a french bread factory and not because of his "teaching"
"What's your name?" 'Brad." "Why don't you come up here in front of the class and read conversation number five?" He is the master of deception and improvisation!
I feel like this is one of Di Caprio’s best performances. Even though it was heralded I still think the film is underrated. Excellently written and great performances.
"He held a parent teacher conference yesterday, and was planning a field trip to the French bread factory." As the class cut-up in middle and high school, that is a legendary plan. Even scripted, it made me bellow-laugh
He was better at classroom discipline than the teachers. So many great scenes like this. He always pushed the envelope and it was very clear he had a huge intellect and creative talent. He could have been anything he chose had he followed legitimate pathways. It was amazing how he turned his life around years later and did so much good.
When I was a senior in high school I borrowed my father's car (with his permission). My mother later found out I did over 100mph with the car. She made my father yell at me for doing it - he had to, 100mph what else could he do? But when my mother left the room my father & I exchanged the same looks as Walken and DiCaprio. Priceless!
While it was humorous, he goes on to be a con man. I still wish I had the confidence he had. It was one thing I admired about my mother-in-law she could bull crap her way into and out of a situation.
Looking at you im certain you have the confidence to achieve anything you set your mind to. Beauty and Brains are a good combo. Allthe best in the new year.
"Your son held a teacher-parent conference yesterday and was planning a class field trip to a French bread factory in Trenton. Do you see the problem we have?" In my interpretation I DO NOT. He's planning well and executing fantastic. As for me who likes to take no responsibility whatsoever... I would like to have this problem with me. 😐
I doubt he hangs with underage women when he can get so many willing ones from 18-25. If by underage you mean “young” than yeah probably but, I don’t blame him.
@뿡뿡! ^__^ Yes. I don't understand how there is any controversy in that. If you are going to waste money on a woman you don't love. Might as well be a sexy young woman and not an old hag.
(Also part of this movie, if I got it right) Christopher's discussion of the watch hiding in his grandfather's backside during war was the best! All things are possible with Christopher Walken and Leonardo!
"You see the problem, here!" Me: "Yes, a young man pretending to be a teacher had a better course planned than what was left for the substitute.... Is that not the problem, here?"
When the head said "do you see the problem?" I'd have said "yes, apparently your teachers are not above the standard of the average schoolboy as no one noticed".
Another comment awhile back on this clip was that it’s a pretty good dedicated effort for supposedly a substitute teacher.. parent teacher conference and a field trip 😂😂👍😂
The school should have pretended not to notice. He was doing a fine job, great natural authority and force of personality, plus high level of work ethic and enough subject knowledge to pass for a French language teacher. That class visibly improved within a minute of him commencing his work. His character is a fake teacher, but his ability as a teacher is genuine.
