Fake White Belt BJJ Prank (Black Belt Poses As A White Belt) 

My coach at my first tournament: "don't worry, your opponent is a white belt too." The white belt:

Should have interviewed the brown belts. Those guys were probably having an existential crisis.

He should've followed every submission with "I can't believe it actually worked!" The brown belts would tap again from emotional damage lol

Besides just being funny, this is a fantastic ego check for the gym and a reminder to take all your training partners seriously.

It's the little things that really give it away. All the micro adjustments timed just right. People can be very talented and do powerful stuff, but no one can adjust to every obstacle like that without an insane amount of mat-hours.

Goes to show how great your students are Jordan that they take the losses so well when they thought he was a white belt. Good group of humble people.

It's been WAY too long since anyone's successfully pulled off a bjj fake white belt prank. Glad you were able to set this up! This was awesome.

What stood out to me is that no one had an ego or got upset when the "white belt" beat them. That's the sign of a professor that teaches the proper values of the sport to his students. Practice is to learn, and this will teach them a lot.

I agree that Jordan's students are lucky to have him as an instructor, BUT, I think Jordan is also lucky to have such a great bunch of students.

The fact that a prank like this works is a sign of a legit martial art

His grips alone told me he was a high end black belt Then his foot placement on passing was incredible. Had to rewatch a few of his passes 4-5 times before I figured out how they worked.

I haven't done any martial arts since I was a child, but just seeing how smooth he is with his transitions shows he has THOUSANDS of hours on the mat. His ability to adjust in milliseconds is insane

The attitude of the students was great. You can see the respect and enthusiasm to just getting better being the focus. This is the type of gym I would like to be in. They all seem skilled and trained. Awesome and fun video! Never underestimate your opponent.

This is why i feel you should treat every new guy like a black belt but even at the higher belt levels still feel like a new student because you can always learn something. Youre always growing as a grappler. stay humble

The black belt is like a spider monkey! His situational awareness, and and ability to react to and neutralize attacks before they were able to be completed was just beautiful to watch. Obviously a seriously high level player!🫡

Nice to see how everyone was very humble around you despite maybe being a bit surprised at how skillful the "white belt" is. I'm a blue belt myself, and I'm super fortunate to train in an academy where the head coach always creates such a positive learning environment. Despite that, I've seen my fair share of high ranking white belts or blue belts who let their ego get the best of them. One white belt actually hyperextended the new guy's arm out of frustration that the new guy was able to deflect all his previous submissions attempts From what I gathered in my years of training (nothing compared to the black belts of course), yes you can have better technique and more experience, but that doesn't guarantee that you'll be dominant during a fight. Even without any martial arts experience, the new guy can be good based on a naturally fast reaction time, being a fast learner, physically taller and heavier etc. In addition to partnering with higher ranking belts to learn technical skills better, I also found it really helpful to work with the white belts that give me a hard time, because I can work on my weaknesses and solidify my knowledge by teaching them stuff. And just a bonus, try to use an advantage you have that most of your teammates can't do (mine is doing the oversplits), it may help you out during a crucial point of the fight Basically, no matter what rank you're in right now, stay humble and be open to learning from anyone. When a lower ranking belt gives you a hard time, instead of getting angry, take it as an opportunity to better your skills. Who knows, you might learn something from the new guy in terms of fighting strategies

Because of videos like this, I immediately suspect every new white belt that walks through the door lol

Love the transitions. And the submissions, especially the armbars. He never pulled them to a straight arm or risked any injury , just held it there and gained more control. Says a lot about the people who roll just to hurt someone, this guy could have broke a lot of limbs.

I never get tired of this type of thing 😂 It's a great reminder to not concern yourself with how you do against others as long as you're improving. Everybody has different attributes, don't compare yourself. Keep doing your best, that's all you should ask if yourself.

Something I love about BJJ is that you can close your eyes when rolling with your opponent and pretty much guess their belt level.

Honestly, this gym seems amazing. The higher belts had no ego and were smiling even while losing to a “white belt”. Definitely a great place to train.

After the initial surprise, purple belts and above would catch on very quickly that the white belt was a stooge. I love these pranks, done with humour and a generous spirit, big props to all concerned.

Besides being a funny prank, this is also an excellent way of teaching BJJ students how to check their ego.

I’ve learned thinking about belts and approaching rolls focusing on it can stunt your bjj from a mental standpoint also. I adopted a mindset that I am a black belt already. I’m a 3 stripe blue. I study and watch black belt matches take notes. Try to keep sharping my fundamentals. And my game has exploded since I took the mindset. Not gonna lie and say I’ve subbed black belts but I have pass guards if black belts and took down brown belts. Subbed purples. All the high belts give me their full power because they know how I’m coming. (I cheat a little too with taking a edible before training) 😆 but I say if you’re a competitive blue and a year in make that mental switch “I’m a black belt”
