*This whole "Unauthorized" business needs to be corrected.* I know that most people are aware of this already, but it's clear by this video that some still aren't. No, they don't just make extra shoes with left over materials, that's not how it works. That's just a long standing rumor in the "replica" community that helps people justify buying, selling and wearing fakes/replicas. Quick preface, I work in Adidas retail, and my best friend of 20 years works in Consumer Relations at the North American Adidas Campus here in Portland. When we read or hear these claims of "Unauthorized vs Fake", etc, it's hard not to laugh a little. Because it's simply not the case. The amount of lockdown they have on the exact number of pairs to be made, and the exact amount of materials to be ordered and used, is literally crazy. Most everything is made with a computerized machine, that logs precise information as to exactly how much material is being used, and how much is left over at the end. People, including machine operators, have to sign NDA's and other agreements, depending on how much access you have to information. So no, there aren't any pairs "slipping out the back" or "off the truck" that are ever going to be from the exact same line as the retail pairs. You can speculate on possibilities beyond that though, sure. For example, a worker could break his agreement, go to another workshop with his knowledge (keyword: knowledge, not materials) and help a replica company make as close a pair as possible. But they are not coming off of the same production line, I'm sorry. And while most at Adidas don't particularly like the industry of replicas, most people in the company could honestly care less if you're caught wearing them. It's ultimately up to you and you're own integrity as to what you spend your money on. For me, while I get a small amount of special access to some releases, there are still a lot that I have to hunt for just like anyone else. And for me, that's the majority of why I like exclusive sneakers. The feeling is very gratifying when you finally unbox the shoe after "taking so many 'L"s, as they say. Also it'd be pretty weird for me to work for the company while also wearing fakes. :) I want to reiterate once more: they'll never be off the exact same line. But that's not to say they won't be nearly 1-to-1. Again, it's up to you and your own personal views as to what you spend your money on, and how you obtain your shoes.
