I have been a pipe smoker for around 45 years having worked for Dunhill for the first 25 years of that here in the UK before my retirement. In all that time and throughout the many pipes I have owned, Dunhill and others, I had never tried Falcon pipes until a few weeks ago and what a revelation! They have very quickly become my “go to” pipes. I own 2 stems, both full bents and several bowls including a Turkish full Meerschaum bowl. They all smoke superbly. If any of your viewers have never tried a Falcon then I reckon they are missing out on what I have found to be one of the best, if not, the best, pipe smoking experience. P.S. I always have and always will smoke my Peterson (ex Dunhill) Elizabethan Mixture tobacco in ALL my pipes.
Thanks for the feedback! They really are the best pipes for the money on the market, that is if you buy them from the UK. For some reason when they import here the price is too high.
I have several Falcon Stems and a couple of the special edition ones not easily found in the USA. The combination of the Falcon Stem and a Pure Block Meerschaum Bowl is the absolute best hands down!! I only smoke meerschaum bowls out of my Falcons though I do have several briar bowls from Falcon that smoke just as good. Something about meerschaum and the Falcon stem is just an absolute joy and pleasure to smoke!
Always loved falcon pipes my father gave me his which was past down to him by his grandfather. Great memories growing up with my father smoking Captain Black in his. He remembers his grandfather growing up smoking that Falcon with Prince Albert. 👍
Thanks for the informative video. I ordered and received mine last week. In my latest video, I smoke it for the first time. I was pleasantly surprised. It will be in my weekly rotation for sure.
Thank you for sharing this information. I'm a new pipe smoker from Australia, this sounds like a great pipe for me to use. It's very versatile. Warm wishes
You won't be disappointed, I bought a straight falcon and thought it was just right for my needs , I then bought a bent one and then lurched a bulldog shaped bowl in light colour which was quite neat , it's become my favourite pipe , I also have a Savineli with quite a big bowl which I also love my Son bought me that , the beauty is you can get the hunter bowls that are a bit more expensive but not much and are good quality also you can get a meerschaum lined brier , great choice of styles in bowls and stems . Enjoy 😊, good video.
I like to put filter granulate into the hole such as denicool filter crystals, nording keystones, or meerschaum granulate. Just enough to fill the hole in.
I have a Falcon straight , bent & an International with a couple of different style bowls , I've bought a Hunter bowl which have a seal at the bottom and they are of good quality, here in the U K they retail at about £29. 95p complete, I have purchased a bowl for £16 and you can get them for less depending on the style, they come in standard , Classic , and Hunter and even with meerschaum lining . Great video. Thank you 😊
Good show Okie.. I've been wanting to try a Falcon. I always use Softies.. It will wear your teeth (tooth) down after time without them. You wont notice until you are around 50 and it's too late.
I wish I could get one of those twisted stems. they look awesome. But in the land of tobacco (Denmark) they are not available. just like 80% of the tobacco made here.
New to the channel here. Nice vid. I've been thinking about getting one of these but I'm still deciding between the straight or the bent one, mainly because I smoke while reading and making notes thus tilting the pipe downwards. Main thing I'd like to avoid is excessive moisture. What would you recommend?
I have both and initially I didn’t think I would like the bent form because of its appearance but a friend gave me a brown colored bent stem with a meerschaum bowl and it is one of my favorite pipes now just because it is so easy to use and maintain. As to your question I think either would work just depending upon which appeals to you more. The moisture isn’t an issue for me in either one although that would depend upon the person and tobacco being used, but the moisture rings are very effective at preventing any problems.
My dad gave me a Falcon pipe a few years ago. That was all he smoked my entire life. Now, I cannot tell you when the last time I used a different pipe. I love it. I would love to find out from your comments section if anyone knows of a place that will replace the mouth piece? The one my dad gave me broke and I'd like to get it fixed (sentimental value).
The best price to get one is through GQ Tobaccos in the UK, if you’re going to buy a stem and several bowls at once. I say this because the shipping to the USA is reasonable, around $25 But here in the USA people sell a single bowl for like $34, but GQ sells them for around $18…good luck and here’s a link www.gqtobaccos.com/falcon-metal-pipes
I’m afraid I don’t. Go to GQ tobaccos online and order one for $18 to $36 depending on which one you want and I recommend the set of 9 bowls for like $120 a real bargain
In Australia, a tin of baccy is now 150 AUD! - talk about victimizing people who have decided to smoke a pipe! Yes, Falcons are great. Anyone who tells you otherwise is just a pipe snob. Only problem is that the standard bowls are quite small - but you get the 'Hyperbole' bowl from the larger range. There are some pipe makers who produce bigger bowls for the Falcon, and even full block Meerschaum bowls.
I've tried countless times to smoke to the bottom but man does it affect the flavor. Particularly EMP gets this awful sour taste. Just not worth it imo. This pipe design seems amazing.
