Capsules are the way to go. I struggled with having too many clothes for so many years. It took me a while to figure it out. Videos like this and how to create a capsule are very useful. Thanks for sharing. My child also has about a 15 piece wardrobe. 3 t-shirts 2 long sleeves 1 flannel button up 2 hoodies 2 sweaters 3 sweat pants 1 jean pants 1 capri pants I guess without planning it's about 5 bottoms, 5 tops, 5 outer wear. So much easier with laundry. We also only have about 6 pairs of socks each. It works for us, for now. Love cat & Jack brand. Good to know they are ethical. I have been meaning to research that brand.

We have a consignment store here - Once Upon a Child - I use to get my daughters clothes there for 1/2 the price & could re-sell them back (if they were in Good shape). Why spend so much on kids when they grow sooo fast ! Kudos to you !

We just started doing smaller wardrobes this year. I dont know as I would call them capsule, but maybe they are! We live on a farm in the mountains, and our weather can vary by 20° or more a day sometimes. So for fall/winter for our daughter we have 5prs leggings, 3prs jeans, 5 short sleeve tops and 5 long sleeve tops, 2 sweat shirts, 3 sets 2pc jamies and 3 heavy sleeper jammies. And a set of sweats in each car in case of emergancies or breakdowns. We love cat n jack clothes!! They really last and are very afordable!! I did not know about the warranty until you mentioned it a couple months ago, but that is great!

That’s awesome! The idea behind a capsule is really just a minimal wardrobe where the pieces can easily interchange. Like several tops work with a pair of bottoms/exc. You might have an out of the ordinary piece in there randomly (like the pink jeans for instance in theirs). But, if it works with 3+ tops I say it’s still part of your capsule! There is no exact set number of how many. Just as long as it’s minimal and cohesive in some way 🙂 also, a kids capsule will be entirely different than an adults since they are messy 🤪

@@ariannapflederer oh I forgot she also has 1 skirt and 2 dresses. Yay! I am slowly working on our home being minimal. Before I felt like I was doing laundry all day every day. Now I spend 1 day a week doing it. And she loves and wears all her clothes. I thought it would be struggle to reduce her wardrobe, but she really got into it! We had a whole fashion show! She tried on everything, and told me what she didnt like and what she did. Then we picked a number and picked that many pieces to keep. We did it when we moved up a size so she was getting new stuff mixed in with what still fit. She thought it was so much fun. :) I am still working on my wardrobe. I finally figured out what colors I feel good in and only kept those. I still have to many clothes, but I do wear what I have. And will just not replace extras as they wear out, until I get down to where I feel I have a good balance.

Yes please! With as fast as kids grow and as little as you get from resale I fully intend to buy as much if not all used clothes and capsule for as long as they'll let me! But have no idea where to start!

My one year old has a small wardrobe to, but I make almost everything myself. I do not like that in shops there is only blue or pink. I prefer colorful clothes and he loves to look at his rabbit trousers or his robot onesie. But when I buy in the thrift store the things I cannot sew I am not picky either. When I count we have about 15 items, too (plus snow overall, shoes, gloves... one of each - well, actually two shoes and gloves ;)) In Germany we really need as well very warm clothes for winter as not so warm, because the weather is unpredictable here.

I never knew that about target. About the ethical thing or the 1 year warranty. That is awesome! Do you have to have the receipt?

My 3 and 4 year old wear the same size but one is a boy and one is a girl so they don't share a wardrobe. But I have a 1 year old boy and 20 weeks pregnant with another boy so maybe I can do this with them. I would like to see your wardrobe for fall/winter. I'm having a hard time with my wardrobe. I have looked at all the checklists and have the "basics" but idk how to put them together lol

Surprisingly that happens pretty infrequently! But occasionally yes! They usually always choose a few pieces that they decide are “theirs” and the other doesn’t ever wear them. That usually is only the case with the tops that are the same but different colors. Like last year they decided the yellow dress was rev’s and the blue was Aerie’s! So they would never wear each others 😂

😱😱😱 I had no idea Target had a warranty on their kids clothing !! This is crazy good information. Is that only the cat and jack line?

I believe it’s only the cat & jack line! But I could be wrong. Until the last year or two, that was their only sole line for kids I think. So it may possibly be all their lines they created but I’m not entirely sure!

Can I ask how many pairs of pjs the girls have? We are good about clothing - similar to what you have but pjs are driving me crazy. My one girl must have 6 pairs of winter jammies. Such a waste. All hand me downs but still!

They share 6 between the two of them! 4 long sleeve sleep dresses and (2) two piece pj’s. My kids wear the same type of pajamas no matter the season! We eventually will switch out to all sleep dresses but we are doing it slowly. The ones we have are thicker and hand made by a small business seamstress on Etsy. I love them because they’re ethically made and long sleeve and the dresses go past their knees. But they’re pricey so that’s why I haven’t just switched them all over right away!

Do you girls ever fight over clothes? Like they both want to wear one of the more fancy or print shirts or something?

Very rarely! More so they usually choose a few pieces that are “theirs” and they don’t wear eachothers. And that’s totally something they do on their own. It’s usually if we have two tops that are the same but different colors! They’ll decide “whos is who’s” and typically don’t wear the other one haha.

It’s not purposeful. I have been trying to get youtube to fix the issue for almost two years now and they have basically ignored my concern. Auto captions are on for all my videos but they don’t show up for some reason! 🙁
