Fall Jeep Overlanding in Allegheny National Forest - October 2022

Day 1 of a crisp fall weekend trip to Allegheny National Forest for some Jeep overlanding with my friends to see the last of the leaves and do some camping. We find a killer campsite, investigate a phantom forest road on the USFS map, and find an awesome surprise at the reservoir!

I Agree! Another great video! I've seen the jeep with the 12 gates spare tire cover around as well...! Thats kind of cool! (yeah, I'm a nerd)....... Any possibility I could look you guys up when my rig is done??? Brand new to the overland thing....simple guidance would be great! ( like where to go).....Keep the videos coming!!!

They always lower the water level for winter. Yes, the boat ramp used to be a paved road. There are actually still structures under the water from the towns.

I have been steadily exploring allegheny every weekend, since your videos turned me on to the idea about 6 months ago. I was in that relative area last weekend. It's a lot of fun right now. Is it required to wear orange, even if not hunting?

That was a natural spring, they pipe them so you can get water.

Where do you access these trails from? Are ATVs and UTVs allowed on them?

These are forest roads and vehicle access trails. They are all in the area east of the reservoir. ATV trails are in the south of the forest and they have a license fee to access but there are a bunch of them as an official network of trails too small for vehicles.

Are those gates open year round,or only certain times of the year?

Depends on which forest road. Most main wide dirt roads that have entry and exit points are open year round. Trails that hit dead ends are hit or miss for gates.
