I really liked the bit of info towards the end of the video explaining what types of exercises to use to build the strength you need in order to be able to do harder poses. 6:25
Thank you for your tips. I can do this pose after watching your video. I also prefer to go into this pose from epk2. Easier coz the hips are already higher.
I loved that you showed getting into fallen angel from eka pada koundinyasa and got into from down dog. I haven't seen that before. Also, your practice space is incredible! Its like something out of a catalogue.
For the first time, I've succeeded the fallen angel. Thank to your tutorial, I couldn't figure out what to do with my legs before. Thanks for giving clear instructions and also showing another option to get into this asana.
I was able to do it on yesterday yoga's class however my the other leg unable to touch the straight leg..After watching your tutorial, makes me want to try again...Thanks a lot!
I practice advance yoga asanas daily . I appreciate your effort to make this video and your performance . Good job sister. (praveen from Tamil Nadu, India)
I’ve come back to this video a couple times to learn and boy is it hard!!!! I can’t just put all my weight on my one arm I have to have my hip on the other but when you dip down to your temple to lift your legs that’s when my shoulder dips to the floor…. I hope to one day perfect it!!!
I wish I had the video. Yoga with Adriane- she did a class that built up to it. I think it was a 20 minute class maybe a 25 minute class that she finished off with Crow Pose. The only way I could explain it was the whole class was leading up to Crow pose. I have never done side crow pose as today is the first time I am seeing it. I am not advanced to even try this as started back in August last year. I am no help to you - Sorry. From a dude in Central Texas
I love ya! - I am 200LBS, I am not developed enough to even try this. I have only been doing Yoga since last August. I started with Adriane and now have moved on to more advanced instructors to keep moving forward. Seems to me the arm would just snap. Cheers-
Thanks for the great explanation, but a bit confused..isn't it Koundinyasana1 ?^^ Not that important but better make sure as a teacher personally. Thanks in advance, I really enjoyed it.
Tried my luck today and failed. :D But will keep on practicing. Question though. I always find it hard and somewhat painful putting my elbows on my knees for these types of poses, what am I doing wrong and how can I do it better? Thanks as always! :)
Wow, what a great posture. I am just wondering what to do with the legs? I am coming till side crow without problems but than having no control of my legs in which direction to go ^^ I mainly just straight them but then they are sideways.
I like your tutorial. Definitely easier from side crow than ecapada. But I love challenge 😁. Thank you for sharing. I am yoga teacher too, and I like to learn something new😊, this is a beauty of Yoga journey. Forever student!😃 Namaste 🌼
AMAZE-BALLS. I only watched. Didn't try because I have yet to master side crow. Love the names (crow and fallen angel)--beautiful, poetic. I wonder why it's called crow. Does it look like a crow to you? Your end advice is sound! I can't bring my knee to my hand from downdog; I have to bring my leg forward with my hand. Any recommendations for how to work toward getting my foot by my hand from downdog without using my (opposite) hand? I do lots of ab excercises, but I just can't seem to get that foot up there! Also, I like your space! Is that home?
Hi Kimberly, bringing the foot forward to the hand (or the knee) requires a lot of lower abdominal and hip flexor strength! I would work on doing some lunges to stretch the hip flexors and then do poses that build up strength like standing up and lifting your leg straight in front of you as high as you can and holding it there. Practicing the movement from table pose instead of downward dog can help too :)
So I am getting into fallen angel from side crow. My bottom foot is not coming up as high as yours so I don't know if my hips aren't tilted enough or what....
Do you believe what the eastern yogis have to say about people doing and teaching yoga, and that if not done properly that it can cause serious spiritual problems?? I've seen the interview with what they said was the most revered yogi in India, and his entire message was that if done incorrectly, or absent of what he said were the proper spiritual alignments, you were in very real danger of coming into sever spiritual issues? What do you, or what would you think based on your experience what most yoga teacher's would think about his supposition??? I just ask this because i find the name fallen angel, interesting, is all. And i have wondered for sometime what the western yoga pov is on the Eastern SPIRITUAL connections, and direct correlations with the yoga done in the West?? Could you please let me know? I'm very interested.....
