I had hoped to turn it into a panic / safe room for a Railroad themed build as I got this settlement as my Mercer Safehouse location. Sadly the space down there was a bit limited so converted it into a storage area but still really pleased with how it turned out. Great to hear you liked it - thanks! 😁👍
Coastal Cottage is one of the hardest settlements to work with and yet you have come out on top and built an *amazing* settling. Keep up the great work!
Feels good to finally get this done, as I had already tried and failed twice before to build here in this playthrough. Great to hear you liked it - many thanks! 😁
Many thanks - glad you liked it! I had struggled getting something built here for so long, after many failed attempts it feels to finally get a build finished here. 😁
@@B0bbyZero I kept telling myself if I could just manage to get that ruin sorted out the rest of the build would just click into place… How wrong I was, I am sure Bethesda designed this place just to troll builders 🤣
Great to hear you liked it, Thanks! Whilst my settlers may be able to craft turrets and even generators out of junk, the advanced broom technology still eludes them… so sadly sweeping the porch is not an option 😉😂
Yes, sweeping up is a rare skill, but I cheated a little and added a scrap everything mod and so am able to clean up most patches of rubble and debris. I figure if settlers are going to build a home, they are also going to tidy up as they build.@@FiddleflapsVids
Thanks! This place has always been a thorn in my side for so long and have never been able to come up with design I was happy with until now - really happy with how this turned out! Hoping everything is good with you and looking forward to checking out whatever your wonderful imagination has planned next 😀
Brilliant idea and building plan you came up! It was such an enjoyment to watch you forge this lovely hillside settlement. 🥰 I remember this settlement was a real pain to make it right, and that was before many building mods we can download now. That deep hole gave me plenty of headache to work around lol
It’s certainly not an easy place to build at and have had many failed attempts to try and build something here (I think this was my third attempt for this playthrough). I almost feel like this settlement was designed just to mess with and frustrate builders 😅 Great to hear you enjoyed the build, many thanks! 👍😁
I have the Caravan Trade Posts unlocked but never seem to use them. Must admit I am not really a fan of the way they look or the additional Brahmin it would bring to my settlements - the Provisioner ones drive me crazy as it is. 🤬 When I get around to a settlement with plenty of space (Abernathy or Sunshine might be good choices) I’ll see if I can fit one into the build.
Simply stunning. I have spend literally thousands of hours with FO4, and I understand the complexities of building with Coastal Cottage. Your Settlement build here is a work of pure artistry. How much did you go over the build limit by, do you know?
Great to see you checked out and enjoyed seeing the finished build, many thanks! This is a location that I have always loved but been unable to do anything with, so after many failed attempts it felt great to finally be able to come up with a layout I was happy with here 😊. I can’t remember exactly but the build probably fits within 2 full size bars (plus the original build limit) and 3 at the very most. I like my builds to be usable in game at a decent frame rate, and so as a general rule will not reset the limit more than 4 times 👍.
@@FiddleflapsVids You know what is missing in FO4? Entertainment. Goodneighbor had it with Magnolia there, but we don't have any travelling groups, thespians or bands. Kind of a missed opportunity imo. Imagine having such groups that could visit your settlement time to time, and raise happiness a bit each time...
Great great vids man! Been using your builds as reference to my settlements as well and it helped me alot. Question though, how do you place the small decors without them getting thrown over the place everytime you fast travel to the settlement?
Great to hear you have been enjoying and finding the builds useful, thanks! I build using the Place Everywhere mod which allows me to make junk items static (have the object highlighted in build mode and then press END), which keeps all my carefully placed decoration safe from clumsy settlements and the odd rampaging Brahmin 😜🤣. You can see it in action here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-miIUpEcttwQ.htmlsi=TNyM_ptrYVGNNlVb&t=1262
@@FiddleflapsVids wow great to see you are still active even after 2 years since posting this vid. thank you! Didn’t know thats how place everywhere works, will try this mod.
It might help to know I had tried and failed twice before to build here before coming up with this design 😅 I learned a lot from watching how others built stuff (especially SarDeliac’s ‘Building in Vanilla’ streams), and then trying to re-create and put my own spin on designs I liked. I also found just focusing on single buildings rather than trying to make whole settlements helpful. Start with smaller projects and I am sure with practice you will soon be building awesome things 😁
Hey dude do you plan to do any camp builds in fo76? If you do be careful I had a camp build that I was gonna show but now I have to fix it because a cheater kept killing Le a destroying my camp:(
@@FiddleflapsVids okay also I just uploaded a video building a gun store in sanctuary hills can you tell me what you think plus what I need to improve on if you get a chance? Also do you use your builds for caps and resource generators or do you use god mode besides that great build!
@@unknown-dq6df Thanks, glad you liked it! I am pretty much done with this playthrough and mainly just use it for building now. Because of this I don’t go out scavenging anymore so have a bunch of different batch files I use to add resources and objects to decorate with. Must admit I am more focused on trying to build stuff that hopefully looks cool whilst still be functional for people who like to use the blueprints, so I don’t really use the settlements for resources or caps.
Thanks! Unfortunately I find it a very tedious process and can often spend as much time decorating as I spent building the main settlements structures (which is the main part I enjoy 😄). I do love how the settlements look once they are all decorated, as without it they just don’t look finished and help add a little extra detail. As such it’s a chore I kinda force myself to do but feel its worth doing in the end 😅.
This is crazy. It's like better city than vanilla "good neighbor" or "diamond city". I am working on this settlement right now, got some ideas from your build. Do you use any place anywhere mod?
Many thanks! For all my settlements I use the Place Everywhere mod. Before using it I found building incredibly frustrating as I don’t have the patience for messing about with various building glitches 😅
@@mrdato116 Sanctuary is my largest build to date and felt like it took forever! Started working on it mid-July and released the finished tour at the start of September (August was also a very busy month at work so had very limited building time). Easily over 100 hours although this includes planning the build and then recording the build vids and tour.
@@FiddleflapsVids that's a good amount of time. I can put it into the perspective now, so I don't get frustrated that I can't make same build in 1 hour 😆
I really adore your build for every settlement. The only thing I cant figure out is, what i should scrap before importing a build. At red rocket station, i didnt scrap anything and then items where put in other items. then i went to the castle, scrapped everything, imported and then the power lines were missing (the default ones from the castle cause it seemed you actually used them). Other than that youre litereally a settlement god Ps:s: Vault 88 when? :P
Thank you for the kind words, great to hear you are enjoying the builds. Before importing any of my blueprints you would need to scrap everything in the settlement. Red Rocket was the only exception to this but has now also been updated and includes objects I missed in the original blueprint. For the power line issue try opening the workshop menu via the workshop bench at least once, other people have had the same issue at other settlements and this fixed it for them. As for Vault 88, really not sure when (or if) I’ll try and tackle it. 😱
I think us PlayStation players got screwed when it came to the mods. And I think it was partly due to Sony itself, being a stubborn ass. Not budging one but. I think this hurt the professional relationship between Bethesda and Sony, and Bethesda subsequently being purchased by Microsoft later on. I can say this, as a long-time Sony player.
I agree, Sony’s restrictions on mods have really left Playstation owners missing out on some good mods 😒. Still at least having access to some is better than none, but still its not ideal.
I've been waiting for the finished product. As I'm watching this video my jaw fell on the floor and I've had to wait until the video to finished before picking up my jaw. Now my Jaw has been fixed because before this video I was suffering from a small alignment problem where my jaw tends to hit the upper jaw. Amazing to feel my jaw free my the occasional pain associated with my little problem. PS, here in Australia I had to get 2 vaccination shots for Covid-19. That is when my problem with the jaw started from (unknown side affect). PSS, have a rest and pick another settlement (Preston Garvey has marked your map)
Thanks for checking out the build, lol - who knew it could cure jaw pain 😄 I think Preston is still salty at me for leaving him locked up at The Castle and might have gone a little crazy. Whenever I visit he says he needs to mark my map, but when I check later all he has left is rude doodles pointing to random locations… that guy has issues 😜
i cannot fathom how good these are, im gonna start a new playthrough using ur settlements coz i cant come close to this. i am wondering though is the junk static? will it be bouncing around?
Thanks! I use Place Everywhere to make the junk decorations static after I place them, and then use a separate tool on the exported blueprint to disable physics to cover any items I might have missed. So despite the best efforts of clumsy settlers and deranged Brahin all the decoration should stay in place 😀
This is one i will definitely be using i am very bad at coming up with idea's for the settlements and best way to decorate them so yes i will be using your blueprint thanks for this
I was giving you a lot of credit until I noticed the mods you used. Still it is impressive, at least as nice as mine, but I couldn't bear to use the bunker mod. Nice job.
Thanks! This place had always given me trouble with quite a few failed attempts before I came up with this layout. Really pleased with how it ended up and great to hear you also liked it 👍😁
I used the weapon glitch to reset my build limit, where you drop weapons on the ground (Gamma Guns work great for this), enter build mode and then store them in your workshop. Repeat this process until your build limit has reset, then start building till you fill it again 🤣 I think the finished build is around 2 and half full size bars.
Cant see a reason why it should not work for you 😉 I first saw SarDeliac use this method, and he recorded a vid of it in action - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PLg0cFpVUH0.html
@@FiddleflapsVids WOW nice but that video is 5 years old and game has gone true a lot patching, I will trust you and try it when I get home but like I said this will be SO GOOD if it works on latest version, ty dude
Thanks! I can only hope they appreciate the amount of time I spend messing around with the design, just so they could navigate the place… Then again settlers so seem to enjoy either trying to walk through solid walls, or being completely baffled by simple things such as stairs so who can tell 🤣
Ok, that is looking awsome! I've never thought that one can do so much in the settlement like coastal cottage! It is defenetly something that I'm going to download
Thanks! Building here was certainly a challenge but really pleased with how it ended up. Although settlers are known for their poor pathing it seemed to be major issue here, forcing me to tweak my original design a few times and having to experiment with adding extra floor pieces just to help them get around. Thankfully seems to have worked out as the guy in the mechanic suit proves, he seemed to constantly get in my way as I tried to record the tour 🤣 Hope your current build is going well, the theme you come up with was really interesting and looking forward to seeing what you do with it 👍
@@FiddleflapsVids With shame in my eyes I must admit that right now I don't even know what to do with my new build. Why it must be so hard to build in Vault 88? For now the build is not doing great, I hope I'll be able to change it soon, but if i don't, then I'll leave vault 88 for a time being.
@@zorgnak3936 No shame in struggling with Vault 88, its not the easiest of places to build at and one I’ll be trying to avoid for as long as possible 😅 Sometimes if a builds just not ‘clicking’ it is good to walk away for a while and work on something else, and come back later with fresh ideas 👍
Yes, I do plan on building at all the DLC locations (well, maybe not Vault 88… 😅). Not got a set order planned out so some DLC settlements might get done before I finish all the main game locations.
I hate this location so much that I turned it into a 60 Minutemen brothel just to spite the whole endeavor. Not that it has 60 Minute Men in it, but they do their best.
