Fallout 4: Lockdown - Welcome to the Season of Fallout 4 

Jon has genuinely created the sort of "town with a dark secret" that exists in every piece of post-apocalypse media ever made. You can just imagine the protagonists of another story hearing whispers about some weird island town on the edge of the city where people always go but never come back from, and the radio transmissions promising clean beds, fresh water, good defences and plenty of food for everyone. The protagonists arrive and are greeted by Jon, in a business suit and wig, shaking them warmly by the hand and emptying their pockets of all the caps they have to go towards the "clothing store fund". They go searching for the people who've been reported missing all across the commonwealth, but all they find are discarded clothes and a shrine made up of wooden posts and empty toolboxes that rearrange themselves on occasion. The group of 4 protagonists decide to spend the night at the camp because of Jon's charismatic nature, so that they can go out searching the local area for signs of the missing settlers in the morning... But when they wake up, their party of four has been whittled down to just two people, while the others are nowhere to be seen. Their beds are empty but look to have been cleaned recently, but what could have done this? The remaining duo comb the area around the camp all day looking for signs of their friends, but come up with nothing. All the houses are empty and bare; the local land has been stripped of everything that's not nailed to the ground; the local wildlife has been butchered and left to rot. They approach the river that runs through the edge of town, but Jon's slightly crazed Mr Handy (who makes crazy claims about Jon being from before the war and being an army veteran) is roaming the area and they decide not to risk getting in it's way. Instead, they wait until nightfall, where they'll be able to search under the cover of darkness. They both head to their seperate beds for the night and agree to meet up at the town bell at midnight... But one of them doesn't show up. Our remaining protagonist waits and waits but still, no signs of their friend. They go off searching for them, but find only an empty bed with traces of blood leading towards the river. In a frightened panic, and fearing for their companions' lives, the last standing protagonist follows the blood trail to the river, encountering a scene which would chill any seasoned explorer to the bone: dozens of bloodied, naked bodies in varying stages of decay litter the river bed. The scene is silent and still except for the panicked cries of our protagonist as they recognise their old friends among the heap of rotting settlers. Except, that's not quite the only sound to be heard... Jon's quiet footsteps approach our protagonist, before the deafening crack of a 10mm pistol shatters the silence and cuts short our protagonist's cries. The bullet rips through their chest and sends them tumbling to the ground; they're barely conscious as they see Jon's silhouette approach them. They know their end is nigh, and that it's only a matter of time before they join the pile of bodies littering the river. But before death takes them, a few final words fall on their ears: "14 caps? That's not bad, you know. And wow, a bloody radaway! Well flip me, I didn't even know those could spawn on settlers. Ooh hang... Are they still alive? Cocking hell! Let's hope VATS is on our side this time. 89% ought to do the trick. Aaaaaaand, BLAM!"

Fallout 4: You Only Live Over here

One in-game year later: The mound of half-eaten corpses has dammed the stream, creating a fetid, septic pond that covers the whole island in a rotten stench Bounty hunters, Minutemen and wasteland adventurers keep turning up more and more often, inquiring about missing persons. Jon still keeps finding trees and objects he didn't scrap on day 1.

So how does curing yourself of dark cravings work? John: "Hey doc can you cure me of my addiction?" 'Doc': "Sure, what's the addiction" John: "Human flesh" 'Doc': Nervous laughter that slowly turns into sobbing as he realizes only one other person is left in the town

My "not cannibals!" sign has lots of people asking questions that are already answered by the sign

You could call this a “Post” Apocalypse... I’ll leave

Small Brain: Jon murdering and eating settlers accomplishes a multitude of things. Firstly, it allows Jon to control the settlement population. Encouraging new settlers to move in, meaning that he can "Appropriate." Their belongings while also giving him a steady supply of food given that he has acquired the "Cannibal." Perk. Big "BoJo." Brain: Jon murdering and eating settlers means that his settlement should never exceed the maximum group limit of more than 6 people. Strictly adhering to realistic lockdown rules, adding to the immersion of this roleplay.

Jon: Misses the gourds that are right next to the melons when talking about how food is in short supply Also Jon: *"Cannibalism it is"*

My favourite recurring joke in this video is how often Jon walks past something that he hasn't broken down.

Bethesda really needs to make Jon a side-quest town villain at this point.

As soon as Jon said that settlers only have 6-12 caps each, and recalling the limited food it was pretty much guaranteed what would happen.

Jon: "So what happens when you never leave Sanctuary?" Jon, within like two days: *deliberately murdering and eating people to make room for more people that he can rob and murder and eat*

Jon: “Perception? I usually get by without” Everyone: *Nods*

Kind of lost it at "Jon, you can't do science, you're an idiot" XD

LOL - "Perception? Eh, I normally get by just fine without..."

Jon: discovers 1 to 1 xp for construction Jon: We could make a religion out of this

In this episode, Jon goes postal! “In post we trust” Yep! Because we can fix anything in post.

"A sustainable society built on a foundation of corpses." Jon's gone and built his home country of Great Britain!

"Perception, I normally get by just fine without." Define "just fine."

"He's just injecting the cannibal out of me" is an amazing sentence...

38 minutes in, and it FINALLY becomes a true Fallout settlement.

After all the time he has spent in Fallout 4, Jon has still not realised that each settler can only produce 6 of a resource and he thinks that it is based on proximity.

The plot of this episode could genuinely be a fallout settlement

Cannibalism is a lot like Pringles: once you pop, you can't stop. (Until you save up enough money from robbing and brutalising people to open a clothes shop.)

21:20 jon the watch posts aren't based on range, 1 settler can manage 3 watch posts regardless of how far apart they are. You can even have them at opposite ends of the settlement the settler will just patrol back and forth between them

When Fallout 4 YOLO does come out, (next week right?) Imagine after 4 years of build up he dies in the very first episode.

"I didn't take her clothes off for anything untoward. I just did it to make her easier to carry down to where I like to eat the corpses."

Jon's on a misinformation tirade on day 1 of the season of Fallout 4 lol. We love you Jon. 1. Settlers assigned to guard towers can only work 3 towers (6 total defense). It has nothing to do with range. You can place the 3 in different corners of your settlement and they will patrol between them. 2. Scavenging Stations are great for keeping settlers "employed" so more settlers arrive, but they stop producing junk after a settlement reaches a certain number of junk items in its inventory (100 + (population + 5)). With all the scrapping Jon did, these stations will never produce a piece of junk unless the workshop is emptied. Also, settlers produce 1 scrap per day naturally already. This station just increases that to 2 items per day for those assigned, assuming there's room in the workshop. 3. Settlers don't arrive with Brahmin. With an active radio beacon, there is a chance for a Brahmin to show up in place of a settler. The feeding trough doesn't affect Brahmin recruitment, but it does make the Brahmin stand near it, instead of wandering around the settlement and getting stuck in houses.

I really like the idea of everyone watching the town founder run around building single fence posts while laughing like a maniac.

I love how Liam Neeson took a life time to find a way to purify water in the Capital Wasteland while Jon's Idiot Savant Sole Survivor creates a pure h2o source in an instant by slapping a sink on to the side of a ruined building and builds a water purifier out of random garbage he found on the ground.

9:48 the radroach spawns when you get close to the doorway of the ruined house, like really close to the door. At least on ps4.

Thousands of hours in Fallout 4 and I never realized Sanctuary is an island.

I swear I failed that speech check with codsworth before. He said something like, I'm fine and he doesn't go on his little breakdown.

Every time Jon explains his plans to progress, I can physically the evil villain mustache twirling

This episode made me realize that we don't appreciate the amount of preparation and scriptwriting that goes into the channel nearly as much as we should.

So, the key to surviving a lockdown is to become a charismatic murderer cannibal, noted. :)😉

38 minutes in, and it all takes a very dark turn, in typical Jon fashion.

every time Jon says he has a "Genius Plan" it makes me worried, it is almost always either insane or ethically dubious.

He's gonna kill them in their sleep with _Mr Sandman perk_ then eat his own settlers isn't he? 😦

That first Charisma check never fails. I believe there's another one that never fails further on, but I guess this was Bethesda's way of giving you a Speech check tutorial of sorts.

I would too, join a settlement where they worship toolboxes and wooden poles as their gods I've changed my mind, i would stay away from Jon's settlement, i don't want to disappear

Lockdown Sanctuary: "100 days without a reportable cannibal incident".

Just so you know, ammo goes for 1 cap each. And that goes for any ammo. You can literally use it as money. Also you could have used those extra saved up level ups to raise your endurance and luck, which will help you survive longer... I think.

I feel like Jon's version of Sanctuary will turn up in Fallout 5 - It kinda reminds me of the town in the walking dead that does basically the same thing

If you made any mistakes in recording this, at least you could fix it in post

I love the comedy timing of: "With this here it should be... okay with this here it should be... okay with this tree here it should be the last thing in the town to strip down... oh there's stuff inside the house" and such routine.

Two towns for my next DnD game, the mad Barron and his bridge obsessed town, and the lunacy town built by an idiot where everybody worships a forest maze of wooden posts and a horrifying mountain of metal boxes Edit: and a corpse mountain in the back with bite marks out of them

Patrolling the sanctuary almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter.

Jon: *Kills someone, eats them, and drags them to a river.* Me: "I've missed this. Been too long since the last Kill Everything run."

This might the most fun i've had watching one of your videos in a while now. Really well done, super entertaining and i even learned a few things. Can't wait to see more fallout 4 over the next weeks.

Oh, and I'm pausing at around 10 minutes in and calling this as some kind of cannibal society where new settlers will get lured in and used as meat. Edit* around the 38 minute mark... basically called it.

Well, at least we all now know why Jon immediately assumes every group of people he meets in games are cannibals

I just wanna highlights the absurdly of this town. The first thing you see is a sign that reads 'NOT CANNIBAL ANYMORE'. You ask the guy in the leather jacket what's that about. He just scratches the back of his head awkwardly. "you work, you eat. Simple as that." The next thing you notice is a row of cages. "Don't touch those! They're full of molerats." The leather jacket guy warns. "Why are they there then?" "You work, you eat. Simple as that." After that, you see three store stalls and one man. You walk up to the bar and the guy serves you a beer. You walk up to the doctor stall and he moves over, and cures your radiation poisoning. Then you buy a leather jacket. Cause the guard guy makes them look cool. You ask him about why he runs all the stores. He tells you "you work, you eat. Simple as that." Finally, you meet the mayor. She's wearing a musky suit, a obvious wig, and is doing . . . Something. She's driving a piece of wood into the dirt. There's dozens of wood posts next to it. And next to the forest of posts, there's tool boxes. They're arranged in a way that hurts to look at. The mayor occasionally makes a loud noise that sounds like a laugh, and then immediately looks annoyed. "gettin' sick of that cocking noise." She says out loud, not noticing you were there yet. You ask her about . . . Literally everything. "Well, I'd love to see what you could do with flip-all!" She throws her arms up in the air. "You're lucky I'm not a cannibal anymore, or I'd eat the flip out of you! Er. I mean. Hey, I need someone to work on the farm. Get to it. You work, you eat, blah blah." She waves you off and gets back to doing whatever she's doing. After a couple of days, you learn another stupid fact. This town has a closed economy. The mayor buys the town's bartender/medic/seamstress service, then gets all the money back with water bottles. Also Jim, the leather jacket guy, buys a crazy amount of leather jackets. You think he has a crush. Either on the jackets or the storesowner. You decide to leave the town and check out the vault up the hill. In the stream behind the town is a large pile of rotting bodies, with bites taken out of them. Bites the size of a human mouth. "Ah, flip. Hey, you. Don't worry about. You want a suit?" The mayor grabs you the by shoulders and gives you a patched suit with bloodstains on it. "Good man, looking positively amazing. Now uh. Keep your trap shut." After five months, you finally leave. You were getting sick of eating melons.

It's a *Post*-Apocalypse game.

Never realized how good the editing in these are. It really flows well, goes to show that you can turn a good let's play into a great video with skill.

Most people judge this game and say it’s bad, I’ve played it for over 1000 hours and all I ever really found bad was the limited dialogue system, the game is actually not that bad even on vanilla

This definitely feels like the epitome of "you can't make an omelet without breaking a few eggs", except the omelet is civilization and the eggs are a pile of half-eaten corpses. Can't say I was expecting this dark turn, but kudos on making it very entertaining. The "Not Cannibals Anymore" sign was a fantastic gag.

love the name for this build, yes that check is a given, i never tried survival mode before. i regretted taking on those flies very fast, 2nd house i had maybe 2hp, i never use VATS that much as i like the fixes to free gun play in FO4, i learnt VATS is your friend and bloatflies are scary deadly in survival mode

This was a fun video! I remember a Kotaku post I believe, from when the game was still sort of new, where the author did something like this. But due to lack of DLC and possibly Jon's intricate knowlege of the game, he never managed to come as far as MATN. Glad to see your spin on the idea! :D

Wow. I return after like a year or more, first video I watch has a Fallout 4 YOLO announcement. I guess I picked the right time? Great video btw.

I’m going to have to try this, and see if I can do it without cannibal. My thing for dealing with rads would be lead belly, and ghoulish which is a really powerful perk fully leveled. Seriously ghoulish just lets you heal rads and regenerates the health lost form rads (note it takes like 50 levels to get that final perk)

When Jon was saying about settlers taking up space and needing to clear some out, I half expected Jon to go ‘So then I started Blasting’.
