The funny thing is that Boston in Fallout 4 has much more historic fabric than Boston of 2015, due to the inclusion of lost areas such as the 1950's Downtown/Financial District with the iconic Scollay Square.
+Commonwealth realm The alternative Fallout timeline started right around 1945. Bethesda could have kept Boston landmarks essentially frozen in time from that point forward if they wanted in that alternate reality
No, it merged out way further back. According to the lore, the aliens had been watching humans since like the 1600s, so if it changes that far back, there could be a lot of other different things. And a lot of stuff in Boston that is not present in FO4 was built before the 40s, but I guess you could say they moved stuff around and destroyed things I guess.
They were going to have Lechmere station, but then they realized that the real life version actually looked more post-apocalyptic than anything the artists could make up.
I'm not an American so I had no idea about any of this, I assumed all of the locations where fictional. it must be awesome to play fallout as a Boston native. I'm so jealous.
I was showing the game to my uncle (who lived and worked in Boston like 15 years ago) and he was so happy about how accurate everything in the city was as I noclipped across the sky.
+Gamesforus I have never jail broken a PS3 or PS4. It voids the warranty and I have no interest in that. Also, I could easily upgrade to a better PC and purchase the steam version if I wanted noclip.
Harvard square and park st. station are particularly enjoyable to stumble across for me. Find it a bit odd how the harvard campus itself is completely absent in fallout 4 though considering how famous it is and how MIT features so prominently in the game.
Yo this is crazy, if you look at the trinity church picture in Fallout 4, my dad's Finagle a Bagel (bakery) store is right there!!! So im gonna go to the store i go to everyday in real life... IN FALLOUT!!!
DigitalBerserk Wow the irony is strong here... Not even gonna touch this subject.. Btw i did change it, i said "since they" when the actual joke is "because they"
Played for only 3 hours... and i'm enjoying it, actually first game since Skyrim that get me interested. Awesome atmosphere, i didn't not expect that it's going to be that good.
that would be cool but I think the west, middle, south and north states need to be shown more. Like Dayglow is one of the places im really hyped for, a city that borders the radiation of one of the biggest bombs that hit the US during the great war
The first time I found 1:47 in game was so surreal because I walk past Park St. all the time going home from conventions at Hynes/Prudential. They scaled it down, but it's practically spot-on to real life.
They could have the city section and then maybe like a white mountains-based thing like the mountains in gta (I've just started playing it so I don't know all the terms)
Already put in 10 solid hours, didn't work today. From 12:01AM to 10:30AM just playing straight Fallout 4. Been very enjoyable so far, I enjoy the graphics, but hey, can always get better with PC mods.
me and the family, would travel to Boston someday and, i'll be like bunker hill is that way, and they'll be like, you didn't even check the map, and i'll just stare at them blankly, because they can't know just how many hours it took for me to memorize the in-game map from sight alone.
It was very VERY bizarre and surreal coming home from work passing the brewer fountain on my way to play the game and then passing the brewer fountain in game. It made me freak out a bit.
I grew up in Boston/East Boston. And I can say right now that Bethesda did an *_amazing_* job with making all of these Boston Landmarks so realistic and lifelike. I haven't even seen all that they've done yet, but I'm so excited to see it all. Especially the subways. I've spent a good portion of my life riding the Boston T.
Random question that popped into my head just now: is it possible that we could see a future fallout game in Canada? I know all of the fallout games have been and will be set in the United States, but wouldn't it be possible because in the fallout lore the U.S. annexed Canada a few years before the Great War? just thinking out loud here
I have included the tipton hotel in a mod I made for fallout 4 entitled "Supermarket Overhaul Featuring PreWar Boston" that features Zack and Cody as well.
Oh god, this is so sad to me,I'm not from Boston but as it looks,it looks like such a busy place, then it turns into something so dead, cold and lifeless.
It's cool to walk around my neighborhood in this game. Even though it isn't an EXACT replica, I like it. It does kinda look like my neighborhood though.
+The tricky tick mediocre? lol go play some boring mediocre medieval witcher 3 then haha Persona 5 will stomp all those western borefests rpgs into the ground^^
Great video! However if anyone is interested, the last two bridge shots do not line up. The first real life Boston shot is of Mass Ave going across Harvard Bridge, just down the Charles from the bridge shown in the game, Longfellow Bridge. The bridges themselves are built with different railings and arches, and you can tell that the bridge in the game is Longfellow by the giant salt and pepper shakers at the end of it.
Very unsettling that last two pictures of the Boston skyline! Being a Bostonian it’s very eerie play this game! They even have the Prudential Center in the Hancock building which of the two blown out big towers on the Boston skyline!
***** But you didn't ask about a specific song or even the main theme, you asked about the whole freaking soundtrack. My snappy remark was well-founded.
Apparently, there is a better way to create structures able to withstand nuclear-war-level damage than to build military shelters. You just have to create a historic landmark site.
Best feeling is wandering the wasteland with dog meat by your side and a full suit of ‘cherry T-45 power armor’ (you will understand that if you’ve ever played fallout 4) and a heckload of ammo and loot going back to sanctuary to tell Preston you’ve killed the raiders at corvega. 😊
I'm from Gloucester (a tiny fishing community northeast of Boston) and if you go on the map where Gloucester should be, you'll find Mahkra Fishpacking 👌🏽👌🏽 good job Bethesda
Oh man, I would have loved that RU-vid was popular back when Tom Clancy's Advanced Warfighter was out, just for someone to record the real time locations in Mexico City
Just reminds me of like some cutscene where he narrator or the protagonist or whatever narrates over like some flashbacks from like old to new and new to old
They really nailed some of these. I have to say though, the fact that I can see the Fenway Park lights from the Public Library (look to the right) in the game screenshot is a bit discouraging. A lot of the coolest stuff in Boston (Newbury Street, Boylston Street, the Prudential Center, Berklee College of Music) happens to be in the space they have condensed. Does anyone know if these are in the game?
