Fallout 4 - Red Rocket Truck Stop Settlement Build Tour

This is a settlement build tour at Red Rocket Truck Stop from my most recent lightly modded Fallout 4 playthrough, using only vanilla and DLC objects (with a little help from Place Everywhere).
For this settlement I have gone for a Minutemen themed version of the Atom Cats, where they service and repair Power Armour for their other settlements. A number of traders have setup shop on the garage forecourt area, with a small farming area and scrap yard around the back. I have left the main Red Rocket building largely untouched so it’s not really shown in the video, but have setup a bar and settler housing on the roof, along with a viewing / sniping platform.
This took far longer than I expected as I really struggled working out what to build here, and there always seemed to be brambles and bushes wherever I wanted to build! Glad I stuck with it though as I am really pleased with how this ended up.

This kinda reminds me of that NCR ranger outpost along a road somewhere in New Vegas that had walls built from stacked up cars and buses with planks in between. I admire the creativity, it really does look like it was made by the game designers as a legit settlement.

I don't usually enjoy the repetitive nature of vanilla object builds but you have a real talent fro breaking up the monotony! I really enjoy your architecture as a reflection of vanilla style, it blends well but stands out as having much more thought put into it than vanilla structures. :)

I feel using just the vanilla and DLC pieces has helped to improve my building as it forces you to move around tabs to try and keep things visually interesting. It also helps with my aim of creating settlements that don’t look out of place, or blend in as you said with the rest of the world. Holy balls, this is 100% the best Red Rocket Truck Stop build I've ever seen. Just coming back to the game now after the Next-Gen Update, and now I'm even more depressed that PS4 doesn't support mods like Place Everywhere 🙁

Thanks for this upload. It reminds me of a few builds I have done at Red Rocket and it makes me feel like I don't totally suck at building after watching an insane Sanctuary build. This is truly meant as a complement even if it sounds weirdly backhanded,LOL. I don't totally suck. I just get bored and move on to a new save before really getting the final touches in. I'm going to try to keep a save on my PC version just for builds and be better about sticking to one concept. This is a great build and it's inspired me is my point.

Yes i will do the main problem I have is I'm very bad at coming up with idea's on what to build and how to decorate the settlements i mainly do what would be called efficiency settlements and i was getting fed up so thanks for as i said a damn good build and i will be using it for quite a while.

Another fun build! I replicated the stairs and rooftop section on my Nuka World Red Rocket. I added a bunch of the red fabric sunshades around the building to give it the feeling of a desert sail barge. I think I’m going to also copy your idea of adding shops under the shade of the large overhang and a bus home as well.

Many thanks for the kind words really happy you liked it. I normally build up a settlement over 3 - 4 weeks, playing for an hour or so most nights and getting more time to build at weekends. I would guess it’s around 30-40 hours total?

I agree it could look quite cool, and technically would be possible to build along there with Place Everywhere (and I guess a few other mods would let you too). 👍 Seeing as some people have issues when multiple large settlements are built in this area though, it might not be the best idea to temp fate and push the games somewhat fragile engine too far. 😉🤣

Thank you! I try to build around the awful settler pathing where possible so it’s not too bad, but there are some minor issues (as always with settler pathing 😅). They can for example make their way up to the rooftop bar at night, but cannot seem to work out how to get to the rooftop house. The blueprints require the script extender so unfortunately cannot be used on Xbox.

I checked out the montage and a couple of other build vids, impressive! I really liked the flybys through the settlements - certainly a unique way to do a tour, and each build shown appears to have some cool and interesting structures. Are you planning to do some more traditional tours of your builds? The flybys are really cool but feel they don’t really give you a chance to get a good look at what you have built. Would be nice to have some closer slower views in addition to the flybys, so we get a chance to see and appreciate the time and effort that you have put into your builds. But overall great stuff - keep at it and looking forward to you sharing more of your work 👍

Yeah, I wouldn't mind doing a more in depth tour of my settlements but I find it really hard to retain the audience's attention for long on RU-vid. So a long format I think I'd just lose the audience quickly. Plus, I appreciate building a lot more than producing content to be honest xD Just seems a waste though to produce something for so long and just keep it locked in a save file forever. It's not easy to make it big on RU-vid with an old game like Fallout though. But people within this community seem to appreciate the effort we make so, at least that. Looking forward for you next one too. We're the few still standing up for the potential of fallout 4's building system xD

The mod I use to make the blueprints is PC only due to requiring the script extender to work. No plans to port the builds as I don’t own any of the current consoles, and would not be comfortable with the idea of releasing something that I could not check and test myself.

Great to hear you liked the build - thanks! I am on PC and used the weapon storing glitch to reset the build limit, with the finished build being around 3 full size bars. To do this just drop a bunch of weapons on the floor (Gamma Guns work great for this), enter build mode and then store them. I like it the only problem is that everytime I put stuff like for example nuka cola stimpacks ductape and more on a shelf desk or table and when I go out to the commenwealth and later come back to my settlement the objects fall on the ground or disappear

I use the Place Everywhere mod to make any junk items I place static so they will always stay in place. I believe the console variants of the mod (Place Anywhere for Xbox and QwaPa on PS) also have this feature 😁👍.

You should get the bos gaurd and medic robot with ai improvememt mod.it gives you a whole next experience especially sith settlements. Better if you do all the brotherhood quests. So they dknt see you as a strangee first though. And actually name you by rank. They litreally just stand and gaurd they do a really good job lol

I am trying to create the best settlements I can without using them, plus it also makes life much easier for people who wish to use my blueprints and not have to download a bunch of additional mods 😉.

Is that ham radio at 5:54 a mod??

That Ham Radio is part of the clutter that comes with settlement and can be found on the cabinet that’s just behind the counter in the Red Rocket main building. Normally you can only scrap it however it can be moved using the ‘Extra Object Selection’ mode of Place Everywhere. You can also spawn the Ham Radio by typing _placethere 001BA3A0_ into the console, although this also requires Place Everywhere to then be able to pick up and move the spawned object.

I am probably not the best person to ask as I gave up trying to struggle with the games Vanilla building mechanics a long time ago. That said the build does just use Vanilla and DLC assets, so I expect with a lot of patience and making use of the various building glitches you can make something fairly close to this.

Nice job! Wish I could be that creative. And to think you did all this using no mods other than Place Everywhere ... I tip my hat to you, sir! Just one question: how big is this settlement really? I mean in terms of how much you had to go over the building limit. I haven't started on the Red Rocket yet but surely this place cannot be build to be this big without scrapping a ton of stuff from outside the settlement. Correct me if I'm wrong; I'm fairly new to Fallout 4 and the wonderful world of building things ;)

Many thanks, glad you liked the build! You are correct this was not built within a single size bar, and I used the settlement size glitch to reset the build limit. This is done by dropping Gamma Guns on the floor and then storing them when in build mode (other guns also work). I was on my third reset by the time I had finished this build.

@@shadowwolves814 Every settlement shown on the channel was built using the Place Everywhere mod. I don’t enjoy trying to work around the limitations of the vanilla building system (I know some people do), and the mod allows me to get around those limitations and build where and what I want. Not sure I am reading the second part of your comment correctly, but I am aiming to build at each location at least once if that’s what you meant 😀👍

@@shadowwolves814 Every build (including Coastal Cottage) uses only Vanilla and DLC objects (so no modded ones) but was made using the Place Everywhere mod. If you would like to follow along with the build vids that would be the only mod you would need. I am using other mods in my playthrough, these are listed in a Google Doc that is linked in the description of each video and has been the same for each build.

Sorry to say I don’t think it’s possible at the moment. The mod used to create the blueprint requires the Fallout Script Extender to work which is not available on consoles.
