I've noticed something strange over the past 2 weeks or so. Enemies in the open world ( Public World ) are dropping less ammo amounts for my prime handmade. I was getting more than I was using before but recently I am getting less than I am using. To avoid having to craft it I have to use those ammo boxes or do daily ops.
been noticing that happen on my ultracite fixer... using this exact supply run route, i used to get about 800, 1k. now, i can barely pull 300, 400 in the exact route. not sure if it matters, but it's one of the few bloody explosives i run with... other guns are straight dps grolls and they seem to get ammo just fine.
Best way to farm ammo is in daily oeprations. The operations you have to activate the radioskeeps spawning mobs (not those you have to hunt the mobs in the map) ... do it over and over with a group.
But you have to spend the ammo you want to kill the enemies, the problem Lays with weapon that absolutely eat ammo like the flamethrower your spending more ammo than your getting in daily ops meaning the only efficient way to farm ammo is to literrly not use it and farm ammo box's also some weapon ammo like ultracite ammo daily ops doesn't drop alot. Daily ops is good for ammo like 5mm and low powered ammo..... but for energy ammo like 2mm and fuel (for some reason fuel is classed as energy ammo) daily ops simply just isn't viable unless your being carried and just looting and not killing which would suck for the team.
@@The-Spanish-Inquisition490 you'll get a lot more ammo you spend, like 1-2k more ammo you spend per run. But only those you'll activate the radio station, those you have to hunt enemies you'll spend more ammo than you get cos thera are few enemies. I can make a video to prove it if you want ... I have like 400k fuel just doing it, not to mention 40mm explosive ammo etc.
@@The-Spanish-Inquisition490 daily ops farming works fine for the flamer. I used my holy fire and farmed like 4000 ammo. It works really badly for my fixer though, felt not worth doing for that ammo.
Dang, thank you for this information. I have started using the gauss minigun, and found that it chews through that 2mm ec ammo so quickly. I will need to try this.

Plus you can also loot those red boxes at all the trader areas. Plus some main areas around the map. Cause it will spawn in some ammo of the weapon you carrying.
I've noticed that Fusion Cores (and Ultracite) dont seem to loot from Ammo boxes, at least they are always empty for me when I run around with Gatling Lasers. Contextual drops from enemies also seems far less with these than regular ammo too. Thanks for the route, great way to stock up on my other weapons without needing to run a daily :D.
On the part outside Vault 76, both buses have small packs of ammo on the floors, the have been either 10mm or which ever ammo you are farming for the weapon you have equipped.
Thanks for this - just added Prime to my Fixer and needed ammo! Also at 5:17 you unlock a box that didn't have ammo - but I just looked 22 shells from there, so it's random? Appreciate you!
Or you can just do tax evasion and leave with over 3k fuel. This may not work for other weapons unless you can kill with less shots and look more then you use per kill. works good with the flamer.
I remember changing servers @ Emmett mountain disposal to kill mole miners for guns, ammo etc and if you ran this in a being, yall remember that grenade exp glitch too 😂 fun times
Today I ran Atlantic City with a friend and we were both using the holy fire. I started with 500 fuel and it took us about 25-30 minutes. I finished with over 1500 fuel. And I was also using a mg42 off and on and gained about 800 rounds of .308. I really want to do expedition with my fixer because .45 is the only round I typically have to craft. It seems on expedition you pick up your teammates caliber so if you both use the same weapon you will get double.
Same me and 2 of my buddies ran it to get the event kills with the flamer and we all commented on how much ammo we were getting plus we racked up on a bunch of missles i had 15 and one buddy had over 20 just crazy ammo
there is the atom shop thing that generats ammo passively I think. But you gotta open up your wallet and fork over cash to get it. like most things in this game, its quite pay for convenience.
@@selectionn are you talking about the ammo converter? It’s not passive, it’s like a trade system where you craft certain ammo to trade for another. Like railroad spikes can be traded for 5.56 or whatever, but it’s not nearly as quick unless you have lots of materials.
@@firestarya yea I just figured that out after I kept playing more. I read it wasn’t as good, is that true? I guess even if it isn’t, having something passively generating ammo is better than nothing.
Getting nuka launcher anmo is still a pain in the assssss. Meanwhile ammo for cryolator are raining from sky literally... love the cryolator tho in the scorched queenie once it freezed can stay there and keep she freezed until dead, for the happiness of other players shooting her. >>
Glad you mentioned that containers also count for pickup (as 1 despite number of items inside) Already started typing to add that info, i choose to believe it was my influence during streams :D
Great tip, but I wish the game threw less ammo at you while playing. Ill get back more bullets than i used. Ive got thousands upon thousands of ammo in my box.
So i find out that even with fallout 1st u reach max total weight after making 700 nukes and 4000 spikes 😁i ended yup giving 55k steel and gunpowder to a new player 😂😂😂
with fallout 1st u can put them in the AMMO stash box that has infinite weight its part of fallout first, they added the ammo box a while back now. I have 100k spikes in my ammo box and 400 mini nukes. u could have kept all of it
Yeah this sounds like somebody who never played fallout is just making comments like maybe an AI or something or a bot commenting on the section to increase interactions possibly?
@@Ruthless9o7 I thought so to but wouldn't let me . Looked into it and I found on Reddit thats not the first time its happened. After I dropped some steel and gunpowder it let me store half of my nukes . My personal weight after making all of it said 2,730 / max which I've never seen.
Thanks Mr Turtle, you've given me the confidence to drop 90% of the 45,000 fuel I'm running around with on my character "just in case" lol. I will enjoy the extra 30 - 40 pounds of free space lmao
you could also buy 1 month of 1st and stash it in the ammo box. the ammo box works just like the scrap box so when your 1st subscription ends you can still pull out of the box, but you wont be able to add to it
In this case, I would say to dump most of that into the ammo converter to store up points, so you could just buy the ammo you want for whatever weapon you decide to play with.
just run Sensational expedition in a public squad. by being stingy with ammo use you can get base 5.56, 5mm, .308 and fuel ALONG with ammo of your choice
@4:42 I never loot anything but containers in the forest (except canned coffee and dog food) as I leave that for new/low level players. Still, this is a fantastic route and a great idea. I’m loving coming back to FO76 and AMMO IS EVERYWHERE. Enemies drop ammo you’re using, boxes drop ammo you’re using! What a great improvement! Thanks for the route! @7:58 I only recently learned of the loot reset by watching Mr Westech, I’m sure you covered it too before.
Great guide but I want to add that green storage boxes with white stars also contain ammo many times and the Sons of Dane compound has 10 ammo boxes/duffle bags if you count the 1 storage box I mentioned above on the 2nd floor. 9 without.
I'm new & have just been running around with Scrounger. Get a new weapon but don't have ammo for it? Equip weapon, go to Wayward, wander around bludgeoning everything with new weapon until ammo count improves. Yes. The beatings shall continue until ammo count improves.

Thanks for this. I knew about the ammo boxes, but didn't know how to reset them so I can loot them more if I need. There is also 2 more ammo boxes and a couple of footlockers that spawn ammo at the Gilman Lumber Mill at the bottom of the hill. I usually run there as well to loot them.
@Angry Turtle I came up with a great idea to avoid the reset and get free junk/dry store food/aid/scrap weapons/arnor and chems at the same time. 1- Create new char/grab commando on way out 2- Scrap all cards to get Master infiltrator to lvl 2 3-Run the loop with weapon of choice 4-Drop all loot, loot on main, delete char and remake/repeat. (helps if you just name it "y" for quick make and delete.)
