I like how ridiculously gory the death animations are in the earlier games, standard weapons putting gaping craters into people and literally flinging their heads off
There is something about this kind of games in death animations that convinced me more than current games, due to 3d the body structures came rigid like a mannequin
I think its "how" gore is used. Gore well done is a narrative tool, not only something graphic. Another thing is that the old fallout game were slow and quiet, the gory and loud deaths were a mentally violent contrast that reminded player how sudden merciless the post apocalyptical world is. In the old games, the gore was part of the tale, the new games just use it as a visually gratifying esthetic item.
Modern games suck. When u shoot flamethrower to enemies they on fire but still shoot back at u like it was nothing. In old video games, they running around and dance on fire while screaming. That is why gaming in modern day is no more fun
I played this game a lot when it came out . So dark and brutal , the fear when it was ennemy turn with machine gun , like : plz dont crit and destroy half of my body . Oh and yea , the mantis making : ouw , sound was funny , still is
I'm suprised there are animations for the rats, one of the weakest enemies in the game. Its nice they decided to add animations for those who decided to kill one with a crit.
I have played hundreds and hundreds of games since playing this as a kid and no game does these type of animations as effective as Fallout 1/2 from the sound of firing your weapon to it hitting and feeling impactful.
I love how unrealistic these deaths are. Like a dude gets shot with a machine gun a bunch of time and his rib cage just bursts open, not to mention that the mantis’ have red blood
Cool video, many of these deaths were rare and I didn't see them often, like laser dog death. Though, propably because you have used Bloody Messs, you forgot a "normal" human death, and the burst from distance one.
The amout of detail it's amazing still in 2024 and most of the animations look ultra gory, I wonder how a remake made in Baldurs Gate 3 engine or other engine would look like nowadays
The old Fallout games were so much darker in every aspect. You could literally shred kids to a bloody pulp and walk away to nothing but the howling of the desert wind. The newer entries are just lacking that brutal, bleak, uncompromising and evil stuff of the OG games.
this game didnt discriminate with adults and kids in it either...you can do all of these to the kids in the game...this game was extremely adult and r rated lol...cuss words and porno quests and anyone can die a brutal death
@@RichardBarkmanbecause bethesda has much more important goals, like retconning the fuck out of the classics and ruining lore, and terraforming the game's world into something unrecognizable.
These exaggerated animations, reactions are what modern Fallout is missing. Someone may call them stupid and unreal. But I find them satisfying to watch and believe they add a unique personality to the game. Don't get me wrong. I like FO4. Bullet times, making eyes pop out, those are fun. And I enjoyed survival mode A LOT. But I've always felt the NPCs doesn't feel vivid. They rarely react when shot, only displaying a stiff and unnatural staggering animation until their HP reaches zero and becomes ragdoll.
