I think a fully modded Tri-Beam laser rifle is incredible on a crit build. On very hard it absolutely evaporates deathclaws. Which, with light armor can kill me in one hit. It’s saved me more than any other weapon!! It’s the Riot Shotgun of energy weapons. Or Pew Pew.
Way better than riot shotgun. I must say that I prefer guns but TBLR is the real deal. Assuming u have max crit chance and all dmg related perks: On 30 dt enemy max dps with riot shotgun is 147 with TBLR(GRA) 598 Holorifle+ 228
I did the math: Starting special: Strength - 4 (+1 from implant, + 2 from spine perk) makes it 7 Perception - 5 (+ 1 from implant +1 from beret - makes it 7 Endurance - 6 (+ 1 from implant, + 1 from intense training, + 1 from the atomic valence thing) brings it to 9 Charisma: 1 (+1 ulysses duster) makes it 2 Intelligence: 9 ( + from implant) makes it 10 Agility: 8 (+ from implant, + 1 from intense training) makes it 10 Luck: 7 (+ 1 from implant, + 1 from intense training and +1 from the additional special point gained from completing lonesome road) This build utilizes 3 intense training ranks and implants in all stats except charisma Side note: as soon as you leave doc mitchels house i would advise sneaking to freeside, robbing the van graphs for all their worth and selling it to get 4000 caps before level 2 and get the intelligence implant first from the clinic, put enough points into repair to get it to 45 (i recomend tagging it) to get light touch at level 2) Alternatively you can put endurance to 7 and luck to 6 if you’re struggling to stay alive early in the game, and simply just put 2 intense trainings into luck along with the implant and the lonesome road special point
Its not that necessary to have max special cause you only get -2 skill points per -1 special stat so if you have magazines you can keep upgrading your skill untill you have more than 120 points in a skill
A year late, but adding Voracious Reader+ Comprehension (retention is optional) will allow you to produce basically infinite True Police Stories granting an additional 10% crit chance. This boosts you to a 76% crit chance before light touch or VATS vs 56%
Thanks cap for reminding me that hunting rifles were good in NV. And thx for letting me know that hollow points were better than armor piercing rounds. I actually used jacket hollow points for a mix between armor penetration and bonus to damage because I broke the Sierra madre casino and got infinite .308 that I broke down to make that special ammo that comes from the perk. I can one hit Lanius with paciencia with max difficulty with armor piercing rounds. Hollow points I am not but one day I can give it a try.
I killed deathclaws with one hollowpoint shot kinda got a feeling that they don't give enemys extra dt against ya so Idk surprisingly my favorite round type for most guns.
The +50% Crit Damage from "Just Lucky I'm Alive" is absolutely mental. The other bonus wasn't really thought through though. (I just noticed how beautilful these three words are next to each other 😂) The perk is clearly meant to be useful for a luck build. So why buff luck if one has to assume that the player already has maximum or close to maximum luck? Maybe they wanted non-luck-focussed builds to somehow benefit from it also?I dunno. Making the perk depend on your Karma was also a weird choice considering how Karma played absolutely no role in the game and virtually not a single thought was lost to it. But it's a clever way of creating choices for the player considering how Karma is reset to neutral afterwards anyways. Overall, the other perks stand out to me a little more however. The +20% attack speed from "Ain't lik ethat now" is crazy good on any weapon and any build and stacks with fast shot. Also, energy weapon crit builds might enjoy the VATS recharge rate. +10% weapon damage from "Thought you died" will also be a good addition to a general luck build. With the 100HP bonus being great for an all-purpose build. I never see these discussed a lot even though it's such a tough choice overall.
@@horribleperson9531 Waiit. Now I do. So you mean that even though you already have 10 luck, you can still benefot from the pemporary bonus Luck points provided by the perk?
this but the gobi campaign rifle. my modded playthrough as a ghoul, with the t-57c power armor and the gobi, was quite the blast with it. love the vids, hope to see more
I’m playing fallout new Vegas right now with a guns/crit build and the best weapon I found is Christine’s Cos silencer rifle with better criticals and ten luck even Rawr got killed in one hit
Am I the only one that starts every play through by doing a straight charge into the cazzies until I finally win on save 3 billion and get the fire axe and immediately take it to bonnie springs to decapitate some scum and take love and hate? I just immediately turn left when I exit the doc’s door lol
This right here is the reason i can't say that melee builds are better than guns/energy weapons you do comparable to sometimes more damage but from further away.

Does lucky shades provide you with extra crit chance when having 10 luck? we are talking about +1 flat luck and not straight crit chance like 1st recon beret.

I’d say it’s at least on par with Anti-Material Rifle. In a character badassery context, I’d definitely choose Paciencia because one of my characters in game is basically a Mexican version of Simo Hayha which said historical figure was a sniper in World War 2 known for preferring iron sights over optics. The reasoning for this choice for Hayha was to avoid the glint from sunlight which would give away his position during daylight hours.
