My theory is that The Frontier is a massive fever dream the Courier is having while Doc Mitchell pulls the lead out of their brain.

I was in the USAF. Trust me that part about executing injured soldiers is 100% legit. I use to do it all the time. Dude stubbed his toe? Shot to the back of his head. Scrapped knee? Machine gunned to pieces. Unreal. No soldier would ever ever ever fight if he knew a possible wound would get him a bullet in his head by his own friends!

The sad thing is the space station could have been done in a good way and contribute to the story of Fallout but instead we got an off brand Rick and Morty episode.

It's really a big fuckin shame that this mod was ruined by terrible (and very questionable) writing. From a technical standpoint, this mod is actually VERY impressive. There is a reason why Bethesda or Obsidian wouldn't put moving vehicles in this game engine, let alone being able to DRIVE them. And here it is, accomplished by a modder who most likely did it for free, only for it to get buried along with the mod because the writers couldn't help spreading their weird fetishes with everyone.

The Wolfenstein plagiarism was so blatant I recognised the scene from a completely different game, with completely different characters and monsters, with much better graphics and it still looked exactly the same.

How to write characters 101: Characters should always have motivations for their actions AND dialogues. Motivation should not be confused with a goal. Motivation is the drive that moves people towards a goal despite roadblocks. Motivation is an emotional response to a stimulus - typically an event in the characters background story will shape who they are and why they do what they do. Motivation should always be behind the scenes, unless a specific purpose for explaining that motivation is important to the story. Most people do not fully grasp their own motivations, and sometimes act in ways that conflict with their goals due to underlying issues related to motivations causes by past experiences that they have not identified. By having conflicting motivations based on multiple events in a characters backstory, you can create realistic flaws. These flaws should create an INTERNAL conflict when trying to complete a goal. Villains should be handled carefully with this point as they need to have flaws that actually prohibit them from being able to achieve their goal, despite them being motivated to achieve it. This is how you make a believable bad guy. Growth, and ultimately the accomplishment of the character's goals is achieved by overcoming a source of motivation that is in conflict with the goal - typically in the form of letting go of a past experience and actively choosing to change how they view said experience. This in essence is the "internal battle" that has to be won, and once won produces change in the character that removes the flaw / opposing motivation that is preventing them from completing their goal. This allows the goal to be accomplished only after introspection and change. 1-dimensional characters only have 1 layer of writing: goals. These characters don't have motivations hidden behind the scenes and are not shaped by experiences. Exposition is common place in writing that has 1-dimensional characters. 2-dimensional characters have motivations and even backstories, but do not have an internal conflict that is derived from multiple conflicting motivations, and oftentimes the characters are familiar with their key motivation. 3-dimensional characters have flaws that come about from the internal conflict of competing motivations derived from experiences. Most of this is not explained to the reader / character. These are things that must be pieced together from bits of information gathered from interacting with said character. These characters can only achieve their goals through the act of introspection and decisive change, causing growth of the character. The frontier, from what I have seen (and what little I have played), has almost exclusively 1-dimensional writing. They do have a few 2-dimensional parts of characters, but ultimately the characters are terribly written.

What I find the most irritating about the weird fetish snakes (there's a sentence I never thought I'd write) is how their dialogue is written. Instead of adding in more words which begin with the letter "S" to help convey their serpentine nature, they've just added the letter in front of random words. It's so emblematic of just how lazy the writers for this mod were that they couldn't even be bothered to write lines which naturally allow for the exaggerated "S" sounds we associate with reptiles in media. Although I suppose it's less important than the outright plagiarism they've committed. Still, it's grating.

This mod is a technical marvel. And a writing travesty. I was hoping for a gritty war in a new city, the development should have taken influence from historical events, not pop culture. Example: turn this battle into something resembling the battle of Stalingrad, where the NCR are holding off a legion assault on the city, and as the battle rages on it descends into house to house, room to room fighting, but where open areas are death traps that should be avoided due to traps and snipers. Instead of fucking space lasers and fetish lizards

It's like a D&D game with one of those DMs that inserts their fetishes everywhere, rips off games and movies for their plot points, while the Courier was one of those players when America got enslaved.

They completely and permanently left a disgusting smear on this project that is a HUGE shame because this was hands down one of the most ambitious Fallout mods to have ever been released. Unfortunately some of the mods developers (if not all) had some level of truly repressed, disgusting fetishes that they could not even separate from their work showing the psychological impact their problem has on their personal lives.

upon seeing some of the offending scenes, Not only can it genuinely be considered Cringe, but to also transcend into outright degeneracy. I had seen reviews already but this was an unsettling insight to just how bad some of the ideas there where, and even of there execution. A cautionary tale of overindulgence compared to what the audiences would actually want.

The execution/firing squad scene is definitely a straight ripoff of RDR and John Marston's death. The slow mo revolver is probably a MW3 ripoff, but that game has a lot of slow mo scenes, so idk if there's an exact one. Absolutely lazy writing.

If the writing for all the female characters didn’t confirm the fact that there wasn’t a single woman working behind the scenes for this mod, think about the fact that it has Benny show up as a ghost, even though you can spare him really easily as a female courier. This mod was not made with women in mind, only reptiles.

I swear, the devs put absolutely no thought into how the existence of these factions would affect the world of Fallout. Both the Frontier NCR and Frontier Legion are SIGNIFICANTLY more powerful than their originals, like to a stupid level. The NCR lost a bit over 100 men during the Battle of Hoover Dam and that was considered heavy casualties and a significant concern for the NCR in the Mojave. All the big scary Fiend leaders have killed something like a few dozen NCR troopers and that alone was enough for the NCR to put sizable bounties on their heads and the Fiends were considered a major threat, even though their numbers aren't all that massive either. The NCR Military probably isn't that big either, a minimum of 700k people live in the NCR and if we assume the same proportion of NCR citizens join the military as modern America, around 0.5%, that puts you at like 3,500 for the ENTIRE NCR military, which controls vast amounts of territory throughout the continental US. Even if you assume that a larger percentage of their population enlists, you're not gonna have a military that's more than a couple tens of thousands. And the Frontier NCR literally throws hundreds of soldiers at shit constantly. And technologically the Frontier NCR is so much more advanced it's not even funny, I'm pretty sure the only time in the entire game the NCR uses a Vertibird is to transport President Kimball (so presumably it's like Air Force One) yet the Frontier NCR has an entire fleet of Vertibirds and those things crash all the damn time. And that's not even mentioning the tanks, APCs, the fuck-off giant helicarrier thing, and so on.

I don't know how these devs managed to create a Fallout with worse story than first release of Fallout 76 which had no interactable npcs and only told over holotapes and computers, but they managed to do it. Absolute mad lads.

The most baffling thing in this mod is that the NCR has a insane amount of battle-ready Vertibirds, something that shouldn't be possible, since most Vertibirds are salvaged and aren't in the greatest of shapes, the only Vertibird that could actually go to war is Kimball's Bear Force One.
