Right?! They were able to perfectly pin my shooters down, and with the min range of orange both my sniper and veteran ranger couldn't get enough shots off
I think the MVP would be the legion doggies for eating a trooper and then tying up the veteran ranger. Shutting down the NCRs movement and shooting very quickly made it seem like they were overrun.
Since no one has listed an MVP yet, I'll proceed to be the first then: MVP=Legion explorer, taking out the NCR civilian ranger in one turn. This really turned the already difficult odds in favor of the Legion.
I've played this scenario once before (BOS vs Institute) and I made the mistake of reserving too many BOS models and got hammered. I like your idea of only reserving one model :)
I can't wait to try this scenario with NCR having actual power armor with melee setup or assaultron instead of the civilian ranger (I think that's the one who can shoot with a pistol while enganged with no penalty)
I think you messed up giving the defenders 20 percent less, since you didnt give them a turret or the other bonuses provided for them lol. Also, the long range guys should have been farther back I think. They just got charged and died. (Still a nice report tho. Aint trying to heckle ya, just give constructive criticism lol)
He did mention he did a test run where NCR cleaned up. So this was a chance for Legion. It just happened the legion two snipers got the rolls. This game does seem to favour melee over shooters. I would like to see what happens if they have power armor geared for melee instead of the pistol wielder.
@@georgekeith6468 Yeah the two ncr snipers deal tons of damage. And I love the content on this channel. It was just too easy for the legion to charge the 2 guys with minimum range weapons lol
@@gunnertlc7728 when I said Legion sniper I was referring to Vexillariux and the legion scout. Their shots crippled the left flank. The NCR snipers did damage but they it did not resulted in any body count and that's what matter in the end.
@@georgekeith6468 Yeah. I mean it is nice to see random stuff happen in the battle reports. I just think he handicapped the NCR for no reason lol. One more trooper could have really helped em I think.
If it's a big fight you're looking for, check out this 1000-point NCR vs. Legion battle if you haven't already! It's the finale of a whole NCR / Legion campaign: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gKkxKrgKH0I.html
This is a particular bad scenario for the NCR as defender since the attacker can charge them right from the start. While the veteran ranger is fairly sturdy and has decent enough melee skill, he can't capitlize on that without a melee weapon (especially not with a rifle that has a minimum range). The civilian ranger is decent, too, but way to feebly. They're an objective runner first and foremost. Wasted points in a scenario without objectives to run to. In a scenario like this and against a melee oriented force like the legion, the NCR could really use dedicated melee fighters to stall the advance. Tanks basically. There two models that can fulfill that role: the veteran ranger and the heavy trooper. The veteran ranger is pretty straighforward. A baton or chinese officers sword would probably work best to boost their mediocre melee skill. The heavy trooper should get the salvaged power armor. It looks cool. It reduces their melee skill to 2, but offers great protection and 9 hit points in total. And with a baton the chance to hit is still okay. While the primary purpose is to tank, the extra black dice for strenght 7 will allow the heavy trooper to dish out as well.
Agreed, melee really makes or breaks this one! Testing out the boxes and their stock gear against each other was the goal, but some extra CC weapons would have made a huge difference. Last time I played this one (same crew and loadout) the NCR crushed, mainly thanks tot eh Civi Ranger. Losing him on turn one really hurt.
Can't control the rolls! Don't get much diversity with the NCR when using the standard A.I. loadouts. IMO the Sequoia should be the standard A.I. instead of the Anti-material rifle. It's a great gun, but it's only good at one thing.
