Falls Lake State Recreation Area- Holly Point Campground-Ruff Road Campground Review Wake Forest, NC
Holly Point Campground, in the Falls Lake State Recreation Area, is a beautiful campground close to Raleigh, North Carolina. It is a large campground set among wooded hills bordering Falls Lake. It offers 30 amp/ water sites and primitive sites.
What we love about Holly Point Campground:
1. Peaceful - Wooded, water, quiet
2. Large wooded campsites - The sites here are large and spaced out providing a sense of your own space, peaceful and quiet.
3. Close to cities and anything you might need: Wake Forest, Raleigh, Durham. We needed a bicycle repair so hats off GIANT WAKE FOREST bicycle shop for doing an outstanding job for us. www.giantwakeforest.com/us
4. Recreation: Hike, bike, kayak, boat, fish, nearby is the long distance trail Mountains to Sea Trail
mountainstoseatrail.org/the-t...
5. Verizon service worked great!
What we don't love about Holly Point Campground:
1. 30 amp only service
There's definitely more to love about Holly Point Campground than the 30 amp only service. The mornings down by the still waters of the lake more than make up for this. So, if you are in the Raleigh, North Carolina area, check out this beautiful, peaceful campground.

Falls lake is currently undergoing electrical upgrades. Rolling View will be closed Late 2021-early 2022 and Holly point will be closed spring - summer 2022. Look for 50 amp service soon!!!

footnote,even though the beach was closed,the lake itself is sandy and shallow enough to swim in

Great video. My family & I will be going there in a few weeks & your video gave me a real feel of what to expect. Did you guys get to do the mountain to sea trail? How far is it from there?

Thank you! It's a nice area and should be really beautiful this time of year. We didn't get on the Mountain to Sea Trail. You might want to research that a little more. Since I discovered this trail, I've learned from other hikers that it is an incomplete trail with road walk gaps. I'm not sure what it's like around this area. I don't recall how far it is from the campground but according to the map it doesn't look far. Here's the website: mountainstoseatrail.org/the-trail/ Best wishes!

Do the bathhouse have toilets that flush?
@ruffroadrvlife

I believe they do, as best as we can recall. You could give the campground a call to confirm. Check the website for updated status. I know right now the campground is closed for renovations. They will reopen on January 1, 2024. Rolling View Campground is open now which is also on Falls Lake. 😊👋

Do you know the charge for camping in a tent site?
@ruffroadrvlife
@ruffroadrvlife 3 года назад
I believe it is $19 for a non-electric site, $24 for electric. Here's the link for reservations: northcarolinastateparks.reserveamerica.com/camping/falls-lake-state-recreation-area/r/campgroundFees.do?contractCode=NC&parkId=552902

I live out there and you should be very careful of fishhooks!
@ruffroadrvlife
@ruffroadrvlife 3 года назад
Thank you! YES, we are careful of fishing line and hooks around lakes. 👍Our girl, Terra, decided to eat the bait on one of Gary's rods. She gobbled it before we could stop her. Fortunately, it was a thin wire circle hook so it dislodged easily. It could have been much worse. We keep the rods hookless or put away now.🙂👋
