Many military experts said that the evacuation should have been done through the Air Force base rather than through the Afghan airport where it would have been easier to secure. Actually it was planned and put into motion by Trump. Under Trumps plan it would have been completed months ago. Biden pushed it back and risked lives by being there longer and going against the agreement with the Taliban leaders.

Those civilians should have definitely been evacuated first before the military was. I've heard some information that suggests that some of the civilians were there on their own giving aid to the locals. It would be harder for them to make sure that those civilians were evacuated first. Again I don't know how that was.

I think the # is closer to 98 - 99% now. Estimated 1 to 2 hundred Americans remain, of which only some want to get out and have not yet. They almost certainly will get out and soon if they want to.

The last time a soldier died was a year and half ago, before this disasterous pull out. Yes, the Afghans shoulder the blame too, but as far as the American effort goes? Military family here, living with a spouse with ptsd, from IED going off next to Humvee. Our military is not a failure and they pulled off something that should have been done years ago. It’s heartbreaking to lose any soldier, but until you love someone with boots on the ground, you could never understand the sacrifices we make every day. Please, take your anger and use it to help our veterans, we lose 22 a day from suicide from this useless war.

ISIS-k did this not the Taliban. ISIS and the Taliban hate each other. This withdrawal went better than we had any right to hope for. One of the only good things Trump did was release the 5000 Taliban POWs that helped get the current administration to secure a deal with the Taliban to agree to let the US leave safely. Also at most there are 200 Americans left still trying to get out. The warmongers are flooding the media with pieces about how we should stay longer and spend more blood and money doing absolutely nothing there. The people there are far more loyal to their tribe and town than to a nation carved up by the British. It's the same reason for all the instability in Africa, a bunch of countries carved up by westerners with rival tribes vying for power against one another.
