Nancy's relationship with Michael Kagan, Willie's writing teacher, is threatened when Kagan vilifies Willie's script. Part 2 here: • Family - More than Fr...
Did you notice how handsome he was? I'd have wanted to kiss him upon meeting him. It would be easy to be instantly attracted to a man that good looking.
Lol! They're conversation at the door, when he said "perhaps we'll see each other then", and she responded "perhaps", made me think of the old Taster's Choice commercials 🤗
It is interesting that Michael told Nancy he hadn't read the script when we see from the conversation with Willie that he had read it fully, so clearly he just didn't want to discuss Wiilie's play with Nancy.
He was gorgeous on Dark Shadows and he's still gorgeous now. Can you believe he's 83 now? Still good looking. He was my first real crush (as Quentin on DS) and I still think he's probably the handsomest man I've ever seen.
OMG! We had the EXACT same set of orange cast iron cookware in which Kate is preparing her Boeuf Bourguignon!!! It weighed about a a ton! :D What a trippy 70s flash-back!! Thank you for sharing!! :D
They still sell them... I made Beef Merlot one time at it was really good but I want to make the original dish of beef Bourguignon.. lol auto correct doesn't have the word ..🤣...I kept trying to spell it and kept failing. 😆
Meridith Baxter Birney is brilliant as Nancy. So much better than the Nancy they used in the first season. One of the few cast changes in all of television that worked out so outstandingly well.
Nancy and yet another man....poor Timmy will need extensive therapy after all of her escapades. I have trouble keeping up ! Kate is no prude but even she is appalled.
@@stephaniescanlan5743 70's were ... different. The pill, in the 60's and70's along with legalization of abortion (meaning if anything happened even using the pill or IUD, etc) you would not to to jail if you chose, as woman, to terminate the pregnancy. Women really hadn't been exploring their sexuality so freely before. Women joined groups together. Of course men, per usual, would take advantage of this, but it could still be healthy to learn about yourself without great anxiety in the background. Truly. It's funny how it still is the female who is being lectured about- "NANCY" sleep with every man she met? " Not did David sleep with every woman he met?
How about the professor explaining the ingredients in hummus-“chickpeas, tahini paste.” Guess it was considered a far-out, health food back in the ‘70’s. 😂
I think there is a filming error in timing in the shower. He probably wouldn't have heard his sister. There wasn't enough time between turning off the shower and been able to put on a dressing gown. All to quick.
I like Kate's dress in the opening scene. Sometimes, I miss the days when women wore dresses/skirts at least a few times per week. If I weren't in my mid-forties I suppose I wouldn't even notice the difference. 👍🏽💯🤗
I friggin love Kate, the mom. My mom sees something wrong with one of us, usually me, and she hides. My husband passed away in February, unexpected, and I'm not doing well because of it and not 1 phone call to see how I am. I live 5 minutes from her. I used her car 3 times in the last 3 months. Instead of calling me to let me know that she's bringing the car to me, she calls my 27 yr old daughter to do the arranging. Then I just drop it off at her house by just parking it with keys in glove box. I don't even know if she knows how bad I feel. It's so bizarre. Now I understand why my dad moved out in 1982. My dad is complete opposite.
The scene with the hummus is so awkward. Who the heck takes an appetizer when invited to someone's house for dinner. Buddy had the guy clocked as a phony from the start.
Nancy, was a pretty responsible single woman.. She wasn't hanging out in bars, getting drunk, doing drugs or living in a commune.. Why is everyone so appalled by this? She was a young Mother, with a job, her own apartment, and a healthy sex life!! Kudos to her!
Her own apartment? This woman is totally reliant on her parents! She lives rent-free in their guesthouse, eats her meals that her mother cooks or comes and takes food already made by her mom back to her guesthouse, and relies on her family for childcare most of the time. Not saying there's anything wrong with that, but let's call it what it is , shall we?
The promiscuous attitude toward sex in the 70's was a standard that proved problematic in the subsequent decades. It spreads diseases broadly and over emphasizes sex as casual meaningless personal indulgence. It isn't a casual thing to do no matter how much the culture says so.
Can someone explain to me why, at 27:00 , when the secretary is obviously skittish , Willie puts his arm over her on the bookcase and crowds her anyway, like some sleazy guy trying to hit on a woman? That made me really uncomfortable.
OMG i paused the video just to come to the comments to ask about that scene. Willie was sooo inappropriate. like, read the room. she obviously was nervous about him, stay back dude. i would have kneed him.
What was wrong with her? She was very weird acting. Very nervous though all Willie did was come in the door. True he ought to have kept his distance when he saw how nervous she was.
I don't get this. Willie drops out of school and has no job and no prospects. He's writing a movie script as a 20 year old and his parents are not only ok with this but cheering him on? This is the kind of thing you work on in your spare time, not the full time job of a lazy kid.
@@theartofwar7806 I never even thought of Doug as a super successful lawyer. His office is very modest and he has one secretary. Probably a slip and fall LOL.
Yes, I always wondered that myself....these kids had it GREAT!! Living on the premises w/likely no rent or little rent/mortgage, free food at the main house and they could do w/o a steady job for long periods of time.
vcrcooking Nancy isn’t much better. She flirts with every man she meets, gets her meals from her mother’s freezer, lives off the alimony from her very rich ex husband, and just does what her self serving, selfish, princess self wants. Because she always gets her way. I could never stand her character. And her teeth make her look like a bunny rabbit LOL
@@XxowendanxX Millions of jobs? You've seen millions of jobs everywhere? I can tell by the generalization of your reply, and your "GTFO," that you haven't seen a damn thing. Your simplicity is glaring to say the least!
No she broke up with him because he was a lying, manipulative two-faced coward who destroyed her brother's self confidence. I wonder how I arrived at that truth? Duh. I think you must have slept through most of the script.
That whole scene with Willie and the secretary was awful. Her behaviour, and the way he was looming over her, backing her into the space behind the desk. What on earth was that meant to accomplish? Very cringy and weird.
Nancy really needs to let him go l wouldn’t want a man like that around my child. To see how he treated her brother. And he has creepy eyes Michael guy. I don’t like him at all.
