This is a pretty good update over the very long-in-the-tooth previous generation. The issue is that the MDX and Genesis GV80 share this exact price point and will not be confused for a Pilot or Palisade. I wish Infiniti would've had greater differentiation from the Pathfinder, which in its Platinum trim, seems like a better buy.
You have a point. We rented an Armada in Texas, then a few months later I sat on a friends QX80. Apart from screens in the back of the head rests for the second row passengers, and nicer stitching. It was the same vehicle, it even shared materials, and the same crappy Nissan infotainment. This is why Infiniti is suffering sales wise. Unless you wanted fancier LEDs, Rims, and chrome materials, the Armada was the same car, same interior.
Alex, you remain excellent with the details you provide. For example the child seat details compared to the manufacturer manual brings incredible awareness as to what's safe and recommended. Thank you for taking the time to explain that.
I drove mdx as well as few of this car competitors. Will tell you for everyday person this crossover would be the best choice. Easy to use, nice riding, high quality.
Another excellent and in depth review. Thank you once more for doing this for the rest of us. Especially appreciate all the metrics you show, particularly the interior/exterior dimensions & decibel levels.
This is definitely a big step up for Infiniti, but at this price point ($55k-$60k as commonly equipped) I find myself not seeing a lot of benefit for getting this over something you didn’t directly compare it to very often - a Telluride. I checked out a new QX60 and yes, the materials are decent and it’s nicely designed, but it’s not significantly nicer than the highest end Telluride trim (which tops out at about $50k). And for that money, in the Telluride you get better seats (with power extending thigh cushions), way more overall interior room, the same amount of power, full screen Apple CarPlay, and real buttons instead of all that glossy black capacitive touch stuff in the Infiniti. Unless you just really don’t want a Kia badge, or you absolutely can’t live without the keep-child-seat-in-place feature, I don’t think the 15-20% premium for the Infiniti is worth it. You get more for your money and a similar level of luxury in a Telluride SX.
Where I live, a ford expedition is cheaper than the QX60, I just don't see the point of getting this (plus Nissans has always had QC and reliability issues)
@@garrettw99 Powertrain aside, I still think they are unreliable. We've owned 3 Nissan's in the past 10 years and have known many other Nissan owners, we've been presented with plenty QC issues and electrical issues. Our 2020 Titan just refused to start up and left us in the middle of the mountains because a rollover sensor got triggered. We've had the infotainment systems and our AC systems on BOTH our 2019 Pathfinder and 2020 Titan suddenly turn black and glitch out mid drive. The backup camera and ACC radar on the Pathfinder is "problematic" at best. The cruise control radar keeps giving me emergency brake warning whenever I go under a bridge or whenever it rains, while the backup camera refuses to work half the time. Yes I have brought them back to the dealership numerous times for these issues, but no they have not been fixed. I know at least 5 other Nissan owners that has been having similar issues as me.
Lexus definitely is a Toyota Plus Acura definitely is a Honda Plus Shutout to Nissan for being brave enough to admit Japanese luxury is only rebadging the mainstream.
@TheMrDudiness um the nx is literally just a rav4. You can fancy it all you want and give it different styling. It’s still a rav4 and nothing cam escape that. Platform engines transmissions hybrids, phevs, suspensions are identical to the rav4
@TheMrDudiness At first I though youre joking but unfortunately you are that much wrong. RX is EXACTLY Highlander. ES is EXACTLY Camry. LX is EXACTLY Landcruser. GX is EXACTLY Prado. NX is EXACTLY RAV4 and IS is a Toyota in Japan. Atleast Acura TLX and Honda Accord, RDX and CRV arent sharing engines and SH-AWD, and V6TT is Acura exclusive. Let me rephrase then, no other manufacturer does rebadging as lazy as Toyota does with lexus. Not even Nissan.
Infiniti as a going business is the biggest factor. It's sales in 2021 (~88000 units) is less than half of Infiniti global sales in 2018. It could be a zombie brand... previous stand-alone Infiniti dealerships in Canada 🇨🇦 are combining with Nissan dealerships.
I did hate to hear them say the whole Nissan+ thing. Really not a good move. BUT they said it before we had the context of them elevating their newer Nissan products. The fact is that the Pathfinder is a MUCh nicer vehicle than it was, same thing can be said about the new Rogue. The interiors are REALLY nice and remind me of how my moms 90's Maxima punched above its weight class. I've seen a few of the new QX60s out on the road, but last week I saw a fully loaded Autograph upclose on the road and MAN did it have some presence to it. The new Pathy looks good, but this thing really looks a step above in person and honestly ALMOST unrelated. I was shocked at how much wider it looks despite having near identical dimensions. But in reality, every best selling Lexus is based on a mainstream Toyota, same for Honda/Acura. It's simply a formula that works. However, with the latest announcement on Infiniti's path forward seems they will be focusing even more on differentiating the two brands. It seems the new QX80 is truly going to kick off the new direction for the brand and this QX60, as good as it is, seems to be more of a transition vehicle.
I was thinking the QX60 would be a bit slower than the Pathfinder. The Pathfinder doesn't have as much features as this, maybe a little less, so it should be lighter.
Even though they are smaller this year, those turkey oven pans where the exhaust would have been would be deal breakers for me. Sometimes, I will take interest in a car that is beyond my budget or my particular needs to see the developments in model years. With those gawdawful oven pans, I can't muster much interest in the other features of this car.
WARNING! Do not use snow mode on dry pavement. Owners manual advises doing so can damage the drive line by putting excess stress on drive line. I own a 2023 QX60 Sensory.
It wasn't a good move to be sure, even if its them being honest with their customers its sad to see the days go where Infiniti was the performance/luxury arm of Nissan but now its really just the dressed up version of their entries. Which is a shame since it was entries like the FX35 and FX45 (along side BMW's X3-X5) pretty much defined and popularized the entire segment.
@@BigHeadClan yeah I agree definitely shouldn’t have said that but that was said almost 2 years ago now and they’ve recently stated their new plans and how they will focus on differentiating themselves from Nissan and also not focus on volume sales, so hopefully that means better and more luxurious build quality without cost cutting.
Alex what kind of adult sits in the 3rd row? This is USA. This does not happen in this country. I am still looking for a two row SUV with huge leg room. reclining bucket seats with foot rest. I wish this suv came with 2 rows and plenty of 2nd row leg room.
What happened to Infiniti? Once a sporty and fun brand, now dull with mediocre driving. Sadly as Nissan has fallen, so has Infiniti. Feel bad for the dealers
@@naveenthemachine Not necessarily, cvts shouldn't be manufactured in any type of "luxury"vehicle. Doesn't matter if it's a Lexus or acura, I wouldn't buy it. Guess im one in the minority. A hybrid eCVT isn't a problem.
Hi Alex, do you think the combined legroom number for the qx60 is correct, it used to be 114 in for the outgoing model. Also there seems to be more room in the qx60 then say the highlander or xc90 in my opinion.
At this point I don't trust Nissan or Infiniti for build quality and reliability. Getting rid of the CVT was a massive step in the right direction. I hope they are working hard to build better vehicles. Their new designs are looking good!
@TheMrDudiness it is being marketed as a Luxury vehicle, not sport utility. It looks like a cheap Ford Escape with black plastic wheel arches. A competing Cadillac XT6 has world class painted rocker and fenders which are fully hemmed. If this QX60 was below $40K then no problem-- It is made for probably a lot less than that, cheap plastic body panels and flat back seats screams low cost.
There are 2 outside of my Job co workers ordered and just got.. They said they Got a Good deal on them. I been in the Autograph version and i really like it. One of the Girls said she just like how she can get in it and just go. Everything Easy to understand. Said she dont care bout fast SUV's. So i guess its hitting its target.
The placement of the spare tyre under the car might have made it possible to fit a full size spare under there. Most SUVs (even new ones) that have the spare tyre under the car use a full size spare. Don't know why Infiniti didn't do that here.
I think you are right. Alex has reviewed the child seat mechanism on the Atlas. In this video I think he refers to the luxury German competitors so he doesn't include VW.
Now not anymore. Acuras more premium than Lexus these days (except really the LC and LS) If you look at the latest Lexus models like the RX and NX the Acura corollary looks and feels more luxurious and premium
@@naveenthemachine I admit to not caring about crossovers or SUVs. I mostly pay attention to sedans and cars where Lexus continues to do the same thing they always have. Minus the GS, unfortunately. I also don't actually care about luxury at all as a person, drivetrain is the only thing that interests me about non mainstream brands.
The QX60 aside from the aviator is gives you the most useable 3rd row. In order to get a useable back seat from the competition you have to step up to an X7 or GLS. Which is why people buy these. Infiniti/Nissan always gives you a little more bang your buck. Especially when it comes to real world interior room.
"Certainly a large asset" while talking and pointing at the ass end of the QX60, well done Alex not sure if that was intended or not but got a good laugh out of me.
IF theres any class of vehicle that needs turbocharging it's these. I like to hear the V6 in my TLX but it's never strained. On the other hand it's not uncommon for my Sienna V6 to growl and grit during what should be pretty rudimentary procedures. The ZF9 is a good upgrade but now they need to update the engine attached to it. I say this as a 4x VQ owner
@@mountainhobo or the part in the third row where he mentions the air vent in the ceiling but says it only encroaches a little and he appreciates that feature?
@@chiemekaa look at the transcript. He literally said "if there was the additional weight of a child in there you'd really have to be pretty forceful and push it up in order to make it move in that manner"
Sadly... Missing the pricing and comparison portion of your videos... Just pepper them in throughout the video itself versus waiting until the end of the video. That should force the users that skip the end of all your videos to watch through the entirety of it all...
Worth noting on the infotainment side- There is a moving map on the cluster, it just only works when the native map has a route set. You also don't get the custom info display in Android Auto for some reason.
