"There are two things magic cannot do" Dumbledore gently told Harry. "Reverse death, and make someone another gender than what they were born as". Tears welled up in Harry's eyes as he finally accepted he would forever be a man while Dumbledore pulled on a pair of assless chaps for his evening at the club.
@@migueche20 yes, but for a perhaps different reason than one might expect. Gay jokes have become boring. It's really hard to milk the metrosexual hipster thing when it's the same joke every time.
@@projectstart5522 No, she didn't break a world record. She was nearly 10 seconds short of the world record. I feel like maybe you should like, google stuff?
@@ajk3914 I feel like you should maybe see the clear advantage of a literal man's body competing in women's sports. That there is a clear difference between men and women and that you can't simply change your sex willy nilly. The hormone your body naturally produces changes your bone and muscle density as well as many other things. Do you know why boys are so rambunctious and women are so emotional? Hormones. The effects of which are not changeable by swapping them out.
All jokes aside... Gender isn't an "Identity". Gender has always meant biological sex. And there's only 2. Our "gender" roles were determined by which sex is stronger. If women had been stronger, our roles would be "reversed". (it's all relative) If there's an alternative universe and they came here, just because they "identify" with the men here, doesn't mean they gotta change sex. Just like if we went to their universe and identified with the women, we wouldn't have to change sex either. We are who we are inside, not for what's outside. Our personality has nothing to do with our sex. It's all society and culture. Clothing isn't even gendered, but we associate certain types of clothing with either sex. So when a kid wears opposite clothing, there's literally nothing to it. You can't say "oh, i guess they're this gender then" because that's just putting your own rules of what a gender is "supposed" to wear.
OMG, was that a French & Saunders reference?? 👀👀 If so, you just made my millennium. 😍 BTW, bit jealous of ma' knocks, huh? Don't worry, mate - you'll get yours soon 👊👊

This clip feels so much like the writers of the show were aware that J. K. Rowling was being criticized and felt the need to acknowledge it but didn't really have anything funny or insightful to say about it.
Even if you agree with Rowling's politics, can we at least agree that how she handled the houses is bad? Slytherin is literally just "the evil house" with nothing deeper despite how much she tried, and both Ravenclaw & Hufflepuff are ignored for no goddamn reason.
@@DTheAustralian I don’t think that was the case at all. There were plenty of great wizards who came out of Slytherin. I think that it’s a story told from the perspective of three Gryffindors so you hear the most about that house and their rivals with all the bias of a teenager with enemies.
Also, if we are talking about "bathroom bills"...the only example of anyone in the books creeping on anyone in the bathroom is Moaning Myrtle, a woman who was born that way, and creeps on boys in the boys bathroom 🤔
We're not. We're talking about the idea that society needs to conform to what people think they are, rather than what they are. It's interesting, though. I'm told I can't have an opinion about abortion because I'm a man - and as such - can't possibly comprehend a female perspective on the subject. Meanwhile, I'm told that there are thousands and thousands of other men who can understand the female mindset, in its entirety. Logical inconsistency is rampant in discussions about trans identity. That's why it always comes down to trying to shame people for disagreeing. If there was a solid argument to be made, it would have been by now.
@@TheCharleseye what argument is there to not lets people used the bathroom of their gender? There is no problem you go in a stall come out wash your hands and leave, any gendered person is capable of that.
@@TheCharleseye yk back in the day some people from caucuses had to conform with people with more melanin than them that they were actually people and you know NOT PROPERTY. Yk they started giving them ALMOST basic human rights and it all ended well. Still have a long way to go but I hops you know what I mean
@@TheCharleseye If I can try to provide the differing perspective - There are solid arguments without logical inconsistencies, but since this is now a culture war issue where absolutely everyone has an opinion, not everyone is educated on the topic or knows how to construct arguments like that. In my experience talking with people or reading the literature from the leading scholars in the field, the only time someone is ridiculed for disagreeing is when all scientific evidence is divulged and yet that person still disagrees. At that point, it's not about the facts. That person has some unresolved dislike of trans people that does not come from an objective perspective. As for the example in your first paragraph, there isn't an inconsistency. It's a common misunderstanding of the difference between biological sex and gender. No, it's not just snowflakes giving in to their feelings and disregarding facts. There have been quite a few studies (the most prominent from 2018, and a meta-analysis of all of them in the works) showing that the brain structures of trans individuals' is more aligned with their gender identity than what you typically see in cis individuals. Basically, biological men and women have different brain structures, but a trans person born as a biological man and identifying as a woman has a brain matching that of a cis woman. So it's more than just feelings, it has scientific evidence to support non-cis gender identity not being a decision. I don't agree that you can't have an opinion on abortion (or most subjects for that matter) because you're a man, but it's not an inconsistency to suggest a trans woman shares a closer perspective to a cis woman than a cis man.
@@TheCharleseye So what opinion would you have if an all women judicial system decided men should get snipped in order to keep from having unwanted kids? Would it be better if men suggested it? Because I highly doubt anyone would agree to enforce a law that affects them personally, especially when it comes to body mutilation.
Reminds me of that one post that went something like "imagine what name JK could have given Dumbledore if the idea of him being gay was something she set in the books instead of after them"

It's strange how many people had said for years that everything that JK Rowling did was great and her lessons were an inspiration to an entire generation. Then she said something that they disagree with and suddenly she's the one who's wrong to those same people.
Even better they don’t listen to what she has to say, just attack her for saying something different. Diversity isn’t really the lefts strong point tbh.
She is still an inspiration to people who aren't indoctrinated in to a cult. I don't even agree with her politically but JK Rowling fostered my love for reading and fantasy. Also her position is not even as radical as the Woke make it out to be and is the same as their attacks on Chapelle. They woefully misunderstand the position and ironically radicalize people more.
There were people who disagreed with her politics the whole time , and there’s also people who still support her to this day. You are expecting millions of people to have the same opinion about one person , that’s why you think there’s contradictions… when in reality it’s good that different people have different opinions , even if they’re all left wing, only cults have no disagreements .
@@TheFireFox36 I think it’s your side that “woefully misunderstands the position” of the people they praise. For example she said that anyone who has a penis and has committed sexual violence against a women is a man. But what your side took it to mean is people with penises who have committed sexual violence against a women should not be in women’s prisons. I agree that someone who has sexually assaulted any one should not be in a place with there favorite type of victim. But a person can be a piece of shit and still be trans.
