To you people reading this, this was excellent! I thought I might be the first to comment here Ha! Anyway to Louise, Fritz, Susan,Bob, and Paul I don't think this could have been done better!! Having watched these guys in the mid sixties, they became very popular in our home! The beginning of pop/rock shortly after the Beatles I can remember it like it was yesterday. On Ed Sullivan--The Beatles February of '64, then it all came forward with a feel good atmosphere, You guys The Cowsills, The Association, The Loving Spoonful, Mowtown. The Cowsills are so very dear to my heart. OMG!! Bob I am so glad you got it all started, Paul thanks for taking care of Susan and the kids.And yes I always watched "Grim". And Susan you know how I feel about you. And you having talked about Glen Campbell, I have an album of his By The Time I Get to Phoenix I have had all this time. Louise and Fritz again excellent job and I have a little catching up to do on your podcast. But I'm getting there!

I just watched this for the second time in an effort to see or pickup something that I missed. Much like watching that certain movie twice. Something came to me of why, maybe, we love The Cowsills. In my case growing up in small town there were not many family breakups. So when they were on a variety show like The Johnny Cash Show etc. we somewhat identified with them because The Cowsills were a family themselves and if you turned on the radio you certainly were going to hear them. And it was the Pop Rock just about everyone liked and talked about the next day. We were young and it was something that has stayed with us and I am so happy it did.

I was about 13 when my mom took us to see Victor Borge. A new group was his opening act. I was a Cowsills fan after that.

This is my second time watching this. Louise planker , a walking brain, she speaks so eloquently, and did you hear them directions , on uploading a podcast. All of the cowsills, so modest , such great personalities, when I was a kid, my brothers and I had a band called, The Holly brass. We did Herb Albert and the Tijuana brass stuff. I thought I was the s***. I was on a local TV show. And I hit the wrong note at the end of Tijuana taxi. I threw my trumpet in the garbage. To be as successful as you all have been for all these years, and still be so humble, so sweet, especially Susan.

My wife and I got to see one of the last live concerts by Glen Campbell in May of 2012. The guitar work was great, but his daughter had to remind him of words. The cool part of that night was that one of Glen’s childhood neighbors was there and he actually recognized him after not seeing him for years.

One very important point is that they definitively experienced ABUSE from their father and neglect from their mother. Full stop. Spanking isn't right, ever, and authoritarian parents can be harsh, but it did not rise to the level of abuse in most families in the 50's and 60's. Most children then did not flinch when a parent came into the room, didn't fear disagreement when done with respect, and had a home that was to some degree a safe place to go. Of course, in between abusive events they had some sibling love and a shared love of music. Still was a profoundly abusive home without protection from their abused mother. Place the responsibility for pain where it belongs, and accept that the hard-won health in adulthood these talented people have is despite being abused, not because it wasn't "that bad".
