Hey Ethan, I’m an okie hoping to get into a DO school next Spring. I am drawn to FM as you retain such a broad scope of expertise, but I also am fascinated by general surgery. Is it at all possible for someone to do a bit of both? Of course, my rotations later on will be a determining factor. Just looking for your thoughts. Thanks man

Hey! If you’re in a rural setting, definitely possible to do both. More surgical options available as a surgeon obviously. One option to consider that may scratch your procedure itch is FM with OB trained to do c-sections. Another option is FM sports med, but that’s smaller procedures compared to OB. If you don’t want to go rural, then I’d go for general surgery as this would give you the most options
