"Think of her little sister that didn't choose any of this" Well OP didn't choose to have a cheating scumbag for a father that doesn't respect boundaries
@mnomadvfx
@mnomadvfx Месяц назад
IMHO it's a bit of a weird reaction to be THAT attached to your mother that you cut off all contact with your father for that sort of thing. It would be one thing if he abandoned her too - but by her own words SHE cut herself off from her father, so it's kinda not so cut and dry here. Overall she sounds like a child stomping her feet rather than an adult, even though she's clearly TRYING to sound like an adult it just comes off as whining. I don't blame her for wanting nothing to do with the step mom or half sister, but cutting the father off entirely just comes off as a serious overreaction. Kind of feels like she's a mommas girl wrapped 110% around her fingers - the mother doesn't need to get involved NOW over the half sister babysitting, because she already poisoned that well thoroughly years earlier. It's not at all unusual for one parent to poison their children against the other parent in a bad breakup/divorce for personal gratification or gain in the custody agreement. My own mother tried to do the same countless times to no avail after my parents broke up (neither cheated AFAIK, she's just a violently abusive person). I think in this case it has happened to the daughter, the brothers weren't living at home so they never got given the 3rd degree and still want to see their father, this tracks with the story.

@@mnomadvfx Reading this, I now completely agree. I think I find it easier to say it's fine if she does't want to see her father again bc I have a really rocky almost non-existent relationship with my dad. Honestly, thinking back on it, what he did wasn't that bad, it's more my emotions and reactions from those situations that stop me from going back to his place

@@mnomadvfxI think it's more a matter of principles. If i ever found out one of my buddies cheated on their girlfriend i'd give him the beatup of his life (we literally made a blood pact on that, it works both ways). The dad wasn't just trying to stablish a relationship with Op, he also tried to manipulate her, threatening her with removing financial support completely and when he realized it didn't work he tried to stuff her with money instead. I love my dad and love my mom, they are both divorced (not over cheating, things just weren't working out), but if the reason why they divorced was that one of them cheated on the other and i had to live with getting home and seeing either my dad or my mom suffering that deep, depressing kind of pain for weeks (maybe months), i'd also want nothing to do with the one who hurt either of them like that.

NTA, I don't blame her for not wanting to watch her dad's affair kid. Yeah she is innocent but who cares? And I figured the dad wanted OP to watch the kid and not her brothers because she's female and apparently 'wired' to look after kids. OP was right--her brothers could have easily watched the kid as well but they weren't even in the running to be considered to be asked.

What cheaters don't like to acknowledge: they don't just betray their spouse. They betray their children too. I can always roll my eyes when I hear "But they are such a good mother/father". No they are not. İf they were, they wouldn't put the kids through such turmoil

1st story: OP should tell off anybody guilt-tripping her about her half-sister that they are all sexists, including her dad, because her brothers are just as capable of taking care of their half-sister, yet they are all dumping it on her. 2nd story: OP was such a great friend to Caroline that she allowed her DRUNK BEST FRIEND to hookup with Daniel. With friends like her, nobody needs enemies.

I agree with you okay!!the child is innocent in all this she had nothing to do with it she didn't ask to be born!!!but you didn't ask for this situation either and I can understand your feelings!now the family feels is still your heart and your mean to your dad,but for your own mental well-being if being distant from your father and his new family is good for you then that's what you should do!!

So the two adults couldn't be contacted to look after the kid because 'they aren't used to kids' But OP somehow is more used to and better equipped to handle kids? or is this a sexism thing girls/women look after children not men. The girl was more likely to know the brothers than she was OP

Story 2 OP is a piece of sh*t and her sister should cut off contact. What do you mean you were stuck in the middle? There is no middle when it comes between a friend and an innocent family member. If your friend didn’t want to be embarrassed then maybe she shouldn’t have pursued an attached man, and he’s not innocent either cause he knows exactly who he slept with. ETA except for Nicola and Daniel’s girlfriend.

1st story Op YTA. Your half sister is completely innocent in all this drama and just because you hate your dad you avoid her for what. Just because you have a relationship with your half sister doesn’t mean you have to have a relationship with your father or his AP at all. You can easily separate the two.
@JDubs1464
@JDubs1464 Месяц назад
The “your half sister is completely innocent” doesn’t work here because OP has made it clear that she wants nothing to do with the child in any circumstances, as well as not being the only option. OP has 2 older brothers who the father is seemingly closer to that he could’ve turned to, but chooses to turn to his estranged daughter because “they’re not good with kids”? OP’s brothers seem to have a few years older than her and likely had to watch her on multiple occasions. It feels more like OP’s father baited her into this than anything

IMHO the father hate felt very off for the whole story - like we missed the part where the mother took the daughter aside and started whispering poison against the dad in her ear immediately after the affair became known. Notice that the brothers were not living at home when this happened, and they are still talking to their dad? Not within easy reach to poison, not still dependent on their mother to get influenced directly. I've lived through the whole breakup/divorce where one parent tries to poison the well for the other, to me this sounds like a lot is going unsaid. I could maybe believe it more if she was much younger - but she was already an adult basically by the time the affair became known, so to me the only reason it could have happened this way was the mother, or a very bad breakup/cheating in the OP's own love life that also isn't being covered. There's just too much missing from the story to sound believable.
@amoghlad9792
@amoghlad9792 Месяц назад
@@mnomadvfxFirst of all stop it with the multi paragraph response. Seconf of all the brothers still having a relationship with the dad while op doesnt is a matter of forgiving and not forgiving. The brothers forgave their dad for cheating while op didnt. See when you cheat you dont only betray your partner but also your children since you break appart the family that they loved. So in simple words the brothers forgave the dad of the betrayal while op did not

By that logic OP isn't innocent? So why do you think OP isn't innocent? Nope they both are innocent but OP but a right and duty to not watch on the iff off chance of something happens and then OP takes the blame for allowing it to happen to the baby to get revenge or subconsciously let's it happen to get revenge.

Now he wants to push his half sister on her. Wth?? Not only is OP is hurt by her trash father's actions but also getting forced to look after her affair sister. She doesn't owe them shit.
