Cecil is my favorite character in the show. He's fascinating world building. He's such a dick, putting his organization before everything: morals, empathy, feeling. Just deathly pragmatic above everything else. And he would usually be a villain in a super hero story. "Government guy who wants to shackle the heroes and doesn't trust them" Amands Waller types are a stock antagonist. But in Invincible he's totally right. While this show makes it very clear that Mark, Eve and the like are genuinely heroic paragons of virtue and good intentions, it doesn't shy away from the horror and danger of super powers. If I was a regular citizen in this world I would totally want a guy like Cecil in charge of the government. He organizes The Guardians of the Globe and takes care of their whole infrastructure for god's sake. I would absolutely want my government to be looking into ways to stop relying on none of these super powered individuals going rogue, even if it means giving guys like Sinclair a job. Frankly, from a regular citizen perspective, I wouldn't care how mean and manipulative the government is to the super powered individuals, if it reduces the danger they pose to the world even by a fraction of a percentage point.

Again. Donald knows Cecil's personal Password. A man like Cecil very rarely trusts anyone to the existent he trusts Donald. I can understand wanting to do everything in your power to keep him around. I believe he was honestly trying to spare Donald the trama.

I can't remember where I heard it, maybe from one of the wrighters answering questions about the show. But, I'm pretty sure that, he rips the beard off, and leaves the mustache is because Viltumites are the only species in the galaxy to be able to grow mustaches or something along those lines.

So my source on this is 'I saw it on a Reddit AMA once, just trust me bro' because I can't find it again, but I distinctly remember someone asking about Amber and her writing in season 1: the 'I knew you were a superhero the whole time' bit was, according to the person running this AMA, actually a production/management oversight. There just wasn't proper communication between the writing teams, so the people handling episode 6 didn't actually know the details of the dialogue in episode 7 and didn't write accordingly. I still think she was very much so in the wrong for her response in episode 7, but in a reasonable 'people actually act like this' way, the real issue is that the way she acted in episode 6 followed by the reveal in episode 7 makes her look like a master gaslighting manipulator. It doesn't make the problems with that segment magically go away, but it makes me feel a lot better about her sudden shift back to being a good girlfriend and makes me feel better about the direction the narrative is going: Crossed wires causing a writing mistake is far easier for me to forgive than the idea that they wrote her that way 100% on purpose and thought it was a good idea.

You're kinda rough on cecil. They have to make sure villains dont win 24/7. Of course tough decisions would have to be made. and existential threats are appearing left and right with the viltrumites where 1 can destroy everything on earth and they are working with a 18 year old dumb teen viltrumite as their only hope.

I know to most, Amber’s problems when Mark was away seem tame by what he went through, but when this episode came out I also recently lost my own grandpa and when she said that…I can’t lie and say that I didn’t pause and tear up for a moment. I’m fine now, I suppose, but I guess I related to what Amber was going through more because of that, even if I was one of the people that hated her the most in the past.

Season 2 has improved amber *so much.* But even still, i just can't find myself rooting for her and mark to work out. It's hard to get invested when then working out simply wouldn't be realistic. That's my personal opinion on the relationship though
