I feel like someone should say this just to clarify: Many of the pieces were rated quite low not because they are bad musically (many of them are very advanced musically, 'genius' even), but because they are overplayed/overused by mainstream culture and contribute to "classical music stereotypes." This includes (but isn't limited to) Strauss' Blue Danube Waltz, Mozart Symphony No. 40, the Flight of the Bumblebee, Handel's Messiah and the Four Seasons. I believe I can speak for TwoSet in saying that this tier list is more based off a piece's reputation and its representation in society than on its musicality. Besides, I can't bear the thought of people misunderstanding this and telling someone that "TwoSet thinks Mozart is bad" or something. That is definitely not what is happening here.

I agree that Handel's Hallelujah Chorus can be overplayed/stereotyped, but you really have to hear the whole of Handel's Messiah live to be able to actually judge it. And it is actually quite glorious.

Nah, I'm just going to go and say that mendelssohn violin concerto is definitely A tier. All the movements sound pretty great and even though it's not epic, that's not how it's meant to sound. It has a very enjoyable motif.

I hate that The Flight Of The Bumblebee got ruined, because the opera it's from is based on a Pushkin fairy tale poem, and it used to be my favorite when I was little (he wrote poems based on fairy tales of the various peoples of Russia). That part where the main character turns into a bumblebee and flies is very cool in the poem. Kids usually love it.
