It still kills me that he passed away. Such a waste of talent and honestly just a good person. If he could’ve had a successful treatment program I think he would have gone on to be a great actor-not just comedic, but real acting. RIP Chris.🌹
Scott thank you so much for making this video and yes Chris Farley died way wiay to young and yes he is a legend in The Chicagoland area and yes people still talk about him and now this new generation is getting into his work and that is awesome,
Chris’s younger brother, Kevin Farley, is back doing stand up comedy during Covid. I’m going to see him next month in Minnesota. Then afterwards, drive to Madison to pay my respects to Chris. RIP Farley! Thank you for this wonderful video!
Yes your right I love Chris Farley. He was like a friend in my head because I didn't have many friends growing up. Him and his comedy was their for me 🙏❤
I miss Chris Farley. My favorite SNL skit was him dancing with Patrick Swayze as Chippendales. And now they are both gone. Rest in peace Chris and Patrick.
The Chip n Dales skit was one of the funniest skit Ive ever seen. I remember reading in some magazine that Patrick Swayze was doing the movie Point Break with Keanu Reeves at this same time. Its WEIRD both of these legends are gone. Thanks Scott for always doing SUCH a beautiful job on these. ❤
It is so hard when when one of your heroes dies. If you truly loved them it is something that never leaves you. I really felt a huge lump in my throat watching this. My hero was Brazilian racing driver Ayrton Senna and every anniversary is still very emotional. I saw an exhibition of his personal effects and I still feel so emotional when I watch him. I think my favourite Chris Farley ❤️ character is the Chippendale one you have to have a lot of courage to send yourself up like that he was absolutely hilarious and every time I see it is is like the first time. Kudos to Patrick Swayze too. ❤️
This is where my family is from and my grandparents are buried there and we laid my dad to rest there the sat after Thanksgiving. My parents met at the UofW Madison. There are quite a few famous people buried there.
Besides the Lunch Lady, my favorite SNL character/sketch of Chris' was Cindy, the girl who worked at the Gap. He did that sketch with Adam Sandler and David Spade. When David's character judges him about eating french fries and he grabs him and in a deep, menacing voice says, "Leave me alone, I'm starving!!!" I mean.... HYSTERICAL!!! But, really, anything Chris did was pure gold. Those days and that cast at SNL in the early 90's were MY CAST. We all have our generation of SNL and, at 13 and just discovering the show on my own, that was seriously my time. And how lucky am I to be able to say that. It was never better than the days Chris, Adam, Rock, Mike, Dana, Spade, ect were on. My heart was shattered when I heard of Chris' passing. I can't say I didn't see it coming though. The signs were all there. I remember, at one point, Roseanne and Tom Arnold took him under their wing after they, themselves, got sober and tried to get him help, but it didn't work I guess. That dear man... the demons that he must've suffered with. I pray he's found his peace. I got emotional with this one, Scott. Thank you for taking me with you, as I would never in my lifetime would've been able to go there and see it myself. It obviously hit you hard, too. God bless you, friend.
Scott, if you see this, go listen to Bob Odenkirk on his most recent appearance on The Howard Stern show. He wrote the script 'Down by the River.' (2:40) He also talks about some great memories of Chris. ✌🏼
Scott he didn’t graduate from Marquette. He left his sr year to go to b on Saturday night live. My present boss went to Marquette with him and was in the pic u showed. He actually wasn’t very liked there and was annoying to most people. Cuz as my boss says....he was always ON!!! No stop switch
Love Chris Farley! He was the best! Still watch his movies today and laugh like it's my first time watching them! Rest in peace big fella we all miss you!
Love this vid. Used to live in Madison and would go to a liquor store that had a big picture of Chris behind the counter. I asked about it one time and the owner said his father used to come into the store a lot. I visited his tomb a few times and it was emotional. He’s one of those people that let me know you can actually love someone in this life that you’ve never actually met, and can be very affected by their death. Sidenote- Madison has the old Butch Vig Smart studios(now I believe just a rehearsal space) Nirvana basically recorded a rough version of ‘Nevermind’ there, and actually the recording of ‘Polly’ was the one they used on the album a year 1/2 later because they liked it better than what they were getting at sound city. Smashing Pumpkins first album ‘Gish’ was also recorded there. I remember being in the bar directly across the street from the studio building a few years ago. I was playing Nirvana from the smart recordings on the jukebox, and a guy came over and said “I love all the Nirvana ur playing man!!” N I said “well, u know all these songs were actually recorded right across the street?” He didn’t. I had him look out the window at the unassuming brick building across the street. I said “right there, right FKNG there” His mind was blown.
Excellent Video Scott, I'm to young to remember Chris Farley when he was actually alive. There is no doubt his legend will live on forever. Love Tommy Boy "Brother's Dont shake Hands, Brother's Gotta Hug" Fun side note, Ford Motor Company's current CEO is Jim Farley. Who is a cousin of Chris's
I DID WATCH A FEW OF HIS MOVIES THE WAY HE ACTED JUST MADE YOU LAUGH NOT KNOWING THE PAIN HE WAS ACTUALLY GOING THRU I WATCHED THAT EPISODE OF SNL W/ MR SWAYZE LAWD IT WAS HILARIOUS BASICALLY HE MAKING FUN OF HIMSELF TRYING OUT WHEN TOOK OFF THAT SHIRT I DIED LAUGHING IT'S A HELL OF A FAR CRY FROM SEEING HIS CRIME SCENE PHOTOS HIS FACE MOUTH & BODY WOOOOW HOW SAD & FOR EVERYONE TO KNOW HOW HE PASSED & SEEING IT ABSOLUTELY NO PRIVACY GONE FAR TOOOO SOON ....R.I.H.P MR FARLEY
Interesting tidbit - “the skit you refer to “living in a van down by the river” - the main character Chris plays is named for a buddy of Chris’ named Matt Foley. They played Lacrosse together in college. The real Matt Foley is a Roman Catholic priest who became an Army Chaplain and later officiated over Chris’ brother’s wedding and then subsequently Chris’ funeral. Check out history of Matt Foley on Wikipedia: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matt_Foley. Thanks for all your great videos!
LOVED Chris Farley. I still sometimes cry and get upset with how it all ended. He was alone etc. He deserved more than that!! And with that Chip n Dale skit, they are both gone :( crazy to think about. RIP Chris. You are missed.
Favorite Chris Farley characters... Himself as an interviewer... One of the Gap girls... Andrew Giuliani ... Mama Cass ... we're going to be here all day. 33 years old... Privileged life... Loaded with Talent ... and still sad. Thanks again Scott see you later!
Madison is such a picturesque place. Absolutely beautiful city. It seems that there are so many famous comedians that fome from the midwest. My Dad used to say laugh or cry your here to stay! His comment when asked about being born in the midwest. It is also true that once a Midwestern er always a Midwesterner! I find that to be absolutely true. Having grown up and lived all but 17 years of my life there. Chris also has perfect comedic timing, is a class clown and can talk about anything. These are also very midwestern traits. I'm telling you there's something about living in the middle of the United States!!!! I know Chris grew up with all those traditional family values that allowed him to be free and be openly funny, but remain kind and gentle. I think he did a lot to inspire others. To show them being fearless and funny is possible. His SNL years are my favorite, although I enjoyed Tommy Boy. I can hardly believe he has been gone so long already! It seems like just not long ago, he was here....... His eternal resting spot is beautiful and I'm glad to see people visit frequently. As a talent I think he was everything one should be and as long as people talk about him and his life and work, Chris will never die. He will live on in his works and what people say about his comedy. That keeps his spirit alive and with us. So keep right on talking about him and spreading his comedy to up and coming generations! Thanks Scott for a wonderful video about Chris's life! Jill Gross
I’m from Minnesota, but it always makes me proud, I guess, that such a talented person could be from just next door. You are right Madison is a beautiful city. The Midwest is truly a hidden gem
Chris will always be the master of SNL. He had it all! Miss you Chris. Cant believe it's almost been 23 years now. I was 10 when he died! Seen all his movies! Beverly Hills Ninja was my favorite
Wowzers. His childhood home is beautiful. I called my hubby at work when I heard the news that he died. Nobody today compares to Chris Farley. On a lighter note, I feel like we saw his buttcrack many more times than we should have. 🤣
Chris had an amazing soul. He’s loved, and missed. Rest In Peace Chris. You are bringing laughs and smiles to so many still today! Thanks for the video brother! 😁
I absolutely loved this. Beautiful tribute to Dear Chris. Thanks for doing this. You go to so many places I wish I could go. God bless you, Scott. RIP Chris. Forever missed.
Hi Scott, as always another great vlog topic of an incredible performer. The whole world lost Chris way too early. Its a rotten shame. I dont know if he even realised fully how popular and famous he had become...but we all did. He was such a natural that his climb to the top was like a rocket! Thanks Scott!
Chris was a MAD MAN ! I watched a video of him on Letterman recently...Let's just say he really shook the place up ! & his own mom was in the audience 🤣
@@SCOTTONTAPE well what the heck man....was listening to some 90's music & I clicked on "soul to squeeze" & I swear I never knew good'ol MR.FARLEY is in this music video I literally never noticed him in this video before
Loved Chris Farley!! He was such a great actor and comedian!! Gone too soon!! RIP Chris!!! He is surely missed!! So so sad!!! 😢😢😢 Thank you for the video Scott!! You are a special man!! God bless you!! Much love!! 💙💙💖💖❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️😢😢😢
Thank you Scott for making this video, Chris Farley, apart from being a great comedian, seemed like a really nice person It's so sad that he died alone, I hope he's at peace now. Cheers.
Such an amazing talent. So unfair that his time was cut short. Everyone who loved him, like Adam Sandler, weren't able to recover. Such a tragedy. Marquette is a gorgeous school.
When I was younger it seemed like he was so much older but now that I'm older I realized how young he really was. Smh even in his short life he did so much and left an impression on the world.
Can't believe it has been 22 years since he passed away. So beautiful for that to be his final resting place. For sure another comedic genius gone too soon.
I would fall down steps for a laugh a lot later in life my spine need it major surgery. I started that at about 17 and I got pretty fat later blond blue eyes. Looked like Chris did I had a wife and 3 kids and I built a new home on 8 acres in 97 in a park had it made. And got started on the cocaine real bad in 98. 2006 got put in prison for 6 years been taking care of my mom ever since, I got out in 2012 she will be 100 soon born in 1921 she is a dying saint I don't know if I will go on if she is not in this world with me. I lost all my friends and my young Family when I went to prison but my mom was there for me and i will be with her until she takes her last breath. And my the happy comedian lord forever be in you with you and on you God bless you all from the bottom of my HEART.
I loved Chris in Saturday night live! He was the best comedian I knew in that time! Saturday night live was the best in those days! Thank you Scott! I’m obsessed with your videos. I watch them over and over if there isn’t any new ones I haven’t seen. Thank you for all the work you do.
I was born in 1960 I was A few years older then Chris. Could be just as crazy at times. I half way was like he was. I made people laugh all the time. Friends would ask me to do my Chris Farley. I was a Barber. I was doing good till I was doing cocaine real bad and I got put in prison. I was off the chain. Chris was the best loved him hope the lord will give us him back.
Alot of people don't know, but Chris was actually going to be the lead role on the movie "The Cable Guy ", but Jim Carrey wanted the role and, for lack of a better explanation, stole the role from Chris Farley, something that friends close to Chris said really bothered him
The church he was buried out of - Our Lady Queen of Peace, is just a few blocks away. There are lots of photos of many SNL cast members and other famous people standing outside before the ceremony.
Really enjoyed the Video. I read Article not long ago. That his Family was building their own Mausoleum. And Chris be moved in near future. And placed with Dad and for Family. I don’t know how much true it is. Be something to check about. And myself Huge Fan of Chris. I still remember day he passed. Sitting in 8th Grade class ready for Christmas 🎄 Break. Definitely never be another Farley, Rip Chris
