Owen James Hart (May 7, 1965 - May 23, 1999)[1] was a Canadian professional wrestler and amateur wrestler who worked for several promotions including Stampede Wrestling, New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW), World Championship Wrestling (WCW), and the World Wrestling Federation (WWF). He received most of his success in the WWF, where he wrestled under both his own name and the ring name The Blue Blazer.
A member of the Hart wrestling family, he was born in Calgary, Alberta, the youngest of twelve children of Stampede Wrestling promoters Stu and Helen Hart. Among other accolades, Owen was a one-time USWA Unified World Heavyweight Champion, a two-time WWF Intercontinental Champion, a one-time WWF European Champion, and a four-time WWF World Tag Team Champion, as well as the 1994 WWF King of the Ring. He headlined multiple pay-per-view events for the WWF, and was widely regarded as one of the company's best in-ring performers.
Hart died on May 23, 1999, due to injuries following an equipment malfunction and fall from the rafters of Kemper Arena in Kansas City, Missouri, United States, during his ring entrance at the WWF's Over the Edge pay-per-view

I had the opportunity to meet Owen less than a year before he died. I was going to have surgery a couple days later, Owen came from behind the autograph table he was at, knelt down and prayed for me. Many months later, I was in the then Kemper Arena the night he died. When he first fell, I was looking in the opposite direction and immediately leard the loud impact over the audio from the large “titantron” playing a pre-recorded promo filmed earlier that day. When the lights came on and everyone could see Owen laying in the ring, at first some wondered if it was apart of the show but within seconds, I knew it wasn’t. I could catch a small glimpse of him as he was being carried out and knew it would be announced that he died. Owen’s eyes were wide open and he wasn’t blinking, not talking, etc and CPR was being given to him and it seemed as though a ton of people were surrounding him as he was being carried out. Owen was a hell of a guy and over 20 years since his tragic death is terribly missed by many, myself included.

It was a gym and he was beyond the beautiful and I know that we can't always hold on to these gems that we are so Grace to have in our life but he was a dynamic person and beyond kind it is with the deepest deepest sorrow did I you know say that we lost such a beautiful gym but somewhere in the Milky Way he's shining we were greatly blessed sometimes we don't realize how blessed we are until after they're gone he was a dynamic human being.

I was there when the accident happened. I was only 11 years old and 13 rows from the ring. I'm 32 now and will never forget that night. Your absolutely right everyone thought it was a doll until the King ran over to him and signaled for EMTs. A dozen or so wrestlers came out to the top of the entrance ramp. Some were breaking down others were comforting them. After removing him from sight they made an announcement that he had passed and that they were going to continue the show in his honor, which at the time I didn't realize how messed up that was. The rest of the night there was no energy in that arena, no chants, no boo's, no nothing. The remaining matches were hard to watch because you could see the pain the other wrestlers were in. It was by far one of the craziest things to happen in my childhood. R.I.P Owen

The last time I saw him alive was in 1997, he came in the restaurant. He had a broken leg at the time, his leg was sticking out of the booth he was in and I had to step over his leg when I passed his table. The graveyard he is buried is queens park cemetery, I used to live right beside there in a condominium called queens park village, I miss that place. Sadly a lot of my family members are buried in queens park cemetery as well. The smitty’s I used to work at is now a humpty’s restaurant located on 16th ave northwest.

Always found it odd how Martha had a picture of him on there in his wrestling tights, seeing as how in her eyes that's the business that they both wanted him to get away from, and the business that ultimately killed him.

@@MMStoodios Why would they have any say, he was married, and Martha was next of kin. I am pretty sure she could care less what most of them thought.

Owen was right up there with the best. An incredible wrestler in his own right. Fond memories. Great video. Cheers!

GR8 video I was a big fan of wrestling, when i was in kuwait i used to watch wrestling on TV and my favorite was Bret the Hitman Hart, and Hulk Hogan. When i came to the U.S. i saw bret hart in front of me at the local mall signing autographs it's mind blowing that i used to watch him on TV bunch of country's away and when i saw him he was just was 3 FEET away. I've been to calgary twice next time i go i am going to that house you are right so much history in that basement i was sad when owen hart died he was my other favorite wrestler so sad RIP Owen 🙏. Good stuff brotha keep up the awesome job man take care.

I remember the Hart Family, they were amazingly talented. Much like you Scott I was kind of out of wrestling at the time they came on the seen. The Vonerich’s vs Freebirds was when I was really into wrestling. I got to see Kerry in OKC once, it was great!!
