Hi there! I’m his daughter and I just wanted to say thank you for being so respectful at his grave and for honoring him! This was a cool video to watch. I just subscribed because I can already tell I love your channel! 😊
@@WisdomOverWicked777Rules Great questions! Oregon was home. He needed to be buried at home ❤️ As far as the bloat that’s a mystery I don’t think we’ll ever know. His health was always very complicated.
I met roddy at a convention 2 months before he passed away.He was one of the nicest guys I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. We talked for a bit and he made me laugh right away after meeting him.I was devastated to see he passed shortly after.I grew up watching wrestling as a kid and looked up to him.So when I did meet him it was an epic moment in my life.Miss you roddy.
Roddy's death hit me hard. I was about 11 years old during the Piper vs Hogan/Cindy Lauper feud and WM1 and rooted for him. He was so entertaining. I grew up following wrestling because of Piper. He was part of my childhood and I grew up watching his movies, listening to him on his podcasts, read his autobiography, and etc. Unfortunately, I never made it to a convention to meet him. I wish I had. RIP Piper!
John Carpenter's They Live is one of my favorite movies, Piper was one of my mom's favorite wrestlers and actually saw him once when she was a kid, Piper was better on the mic than every new pro wrestler by far
He was greater than great! Greater than Hogan, Flair, Andre and more! And he was the greatest to never win the WWF Championship! Great actor too! And the man could legit sing!
At a loss for words. A statement no one ever said about the Rowdy one. Such a quick wit. One of my favorite things was when they were doing an interview and Vince said just how low will you go. He said well I came on this show. Just a perfect response.
I grew up watching him on Saturday nights on Portland Wrestling on KPTV! My dad and I (who I didn't have a lot else in common with) would stay up, pop popcorn, and watch the matches together. Piper was always one of my favorites and "They Live" is one of my favorite movies of all time. RIP to a true legend!
"I've come here to chew bubble gum and kick some ass and I am all out of bubble gum." There will never be another Roddy Piper. A great wrestler and a true legend. So glad he passed the Rowdy name to Ronda Rousey.
This is the first vid of yours I've seen. Absolutely love it. I love how your very respectful to Roddy's grave. Not many people are respectful these days. Piper will always be loved, remembered and never forgotten.
Loved him as a wrestler & glad I got to meet him. He exceeded my expectations & felt like I knew him for many years. So down to earth and miss him so much!
The coolest villain in wrestling history. In Mid Atlantic, he was the most entertaining and evil bad guy. He made people mad as hell in one second flat and was pure gold on the mic. We loved him as a heel then and the fans could not understand why we cheered him so wildly. R.I.P. Roderick, you were simply the greatest I ever had the pleasure to watch and cheer for.
As a child I hated this man but as I grew, I grew to really have a special place in my heart. It was confirmed for me when Roddy was a guest on Kim Russo's The Haunting of: Roddy Piper. Man, that episode touched me most. I really loved the life you made with your lovely wife and beautiful family. 💜
The fight scene between him and Keith David in The Live was incredible. He was great in that movie and i still watch it a couple times a year. I remember Piper's Pit and Roddy was just so animated and talented as a wrestling performer. His skits are legendary. He was so popular with all the fans, he had that special talent. John Carpenter always picked the right guy for the lead role in his movies and choosing Roddy for They Live was a classic choice.
Piper was entertaining, because he knew how to work a crowd. He was an absolute master of the rapid fire insult. The "Dope on a rope" skit he did with Bruce Pritchard (A.K.A Brother Love or Blubber Love as Piper dubbed him) still makes me smile.
Thanks for finding him and allowing us all to pay our respects through you.......definitely one of your 'quieter' vids and he obviously did mean a lot to you as he did to many of us. There's certainly enough of his colleagues who've passed way too young who he'll have for company, rest easy Hot Rod ! And remember "They Live !" !!!
Met him a few times at cons and he was THE most wonderful guest to meet. I've met over 100 people at cons but I always said Piper was the guy you walked away thinking it was more his pleasure to meet me than mine. He was just that warm and welcoming. The last time I met him he signed my They Live mask, and he seemed just a tad off or his mind was cloudy. 5 months later he died, and I had no idea he was battling a disease. I'm sure he was medicated last time I met him yet he was still so warm, caring, and great to his fans.
I met him 2 weeks before he died at his final autograph signing. He was so happy and full of life that day. 2 weeks to the day later he died. You are right about how nice he was. I have met many celebs, many wrestlers and he easily was the nicest. Took his time with every fan that day.
There are some dudes when they go you just know you ain’t ever gonna see a dude like that again. Roddy is one of those dudes. I’ll miss his energy, his spirit. He really was a free spirit in every sense of the term. I may never have met him but he’ll always be one of my wrestling heroes from those care-free, and happy days in the 80’s.
I am so glad you found his final resting place. It had always been reported when I had looked or heard of his passing that his ashes were spread on his farm that he felt the most at peace, his wife Kitty's words. He was an amazing wrestler, actor and human being. A&E did a documentary on him recently, it is a great watch. His death got to me as well. Had his tombstone not said 2015 I would swear it hadn't been that long.
Didn't he say "They Live" was a documentary? He also knew he wasn't going to make 65, according to an interview by him. This man was a legend while he was alive! You just keep reaffirming why I love your channel Grimm. RIP to a truly Great man! 🥥🍌🍍
He had a host of health issues and not all from wrestling. He even had cancer. It wasn’t hard to think that he won’t live to be really old. Wrestling back then was a hard business and even harder on your body. You were on the road 300 days out of the year. You usually wrestled hurt for weeks or months before you could get time off. Taking too much time off could be a career killer in some cases. Also you didn’t get paid if your not wrestling. Thankfully the business is better now.
Thank you for this . I grew up watching rowdy roddy Piper as a kid . I say he’s reunited with Mean Gene Oakerlund, Bobby The Brain Heenan , and Macho Man Randy Savage .
Now hes with Adrian Adonis his best friend.. Who in death saved Roddys life and his entire family. Wanna know how? Go find the show he did with the paranormal lady at his house.
Growing up Rowdy Roddy Piper was my favorite wrestler. When My father lived up in Oregon, he said he had the chance to meet Rowdy. I was so jealous. I have not been up to Tigard for over a decade. 80's wrestling was the best. RIP Piper
This breaks a lot of people's hearts to see someone so genuine at rest. Death absolutely sucks, I do not like this concept. That movie "They Live" for some reason, has this odd combo of a B Movie and having real life themes. There is a quality to it and he was huge part of it that really works and never gets old.
Rowdy Yes who remembers Piper's Pit with Superfly and he cracked him in the head with it !? And his road stories were Awesome . Let's keep the comments positive show some respect Please .
@The Wolf King Yup. I think it was called Celebrity Ghost Stories?? I saw the Hot Rod episode. Well, some of it anyway bc I was channel surfing that evening
@@scottyellis3442 Scotty agreed I remember watching an old Doc and they were discussing Piper this that & other but what stuck out was Vince at that point in time had the Land of Giants so to speak and Piper even though 6ft 2 220 lbs Yes good size dude on street but Piper was small but he had that grit and the Balls IDGAF Attitude that kinda did level the playing field and one more thing that was my favorite He was a ' LOYAL GUY ' That's what it's about man sorry kinda went off blabbering bout nothing just got outta work all night so mad tired . Peace bro .
Just spotted this video, Rowdy was my favourite wrestling star too. I was lucky enough to see him live , when WWE (WWF back then) came to London for summer Slam. I was gutted to hear about his death i even had a little cry 😢 💔, it was so nice to see his last resting place, thank you for your lovely tribute to the great man.
Piper was one the best ever. You loved to hat him. You never knew what he would say or do next . Great blog grims of a unsung hero of many wrestling fans.. Thank you from gwyn and James harper Spokane Washington
A Canadian flag, needs to be placed beside the stars and stripes. Good old boy from Saskatchewan Canada. Thanks for sharing this. Brought a tear to my eye
I was born in 1973 and grew up on Roddy in the mid-1980s during the WWF TV craze. He was truly unique amongst wrestlers with tons of personality. He was not only a heel, he was also THEE #1 guy to hate which just made us love him more. I grew up in San Diego and would see him at Comic Con, I never got to spend much time with him, but I watched him interact with fans and he was always super cool. Class act and a special human being. RIP HOT ROD...
So glad to see you guys in Oregon! Rowdy was an icon and his Role in They live is Legendary! The wife and I Adventure like you and Jessica along the west coast. Maybe one day we’ll cross paths
I meet Rowdy Roddy Piper in San Diego at the Comic-Con in 2002 I took a picture of him. I started watching wrestling on t.v. & live when it came to town. Rowdy fought Ravishing Rick Rude in a lumberjack match. I was sad to here Rowdy passing. I have my picture of him and the movies to remember him.❤🌹
A little known fact was Roddy Piper was supposed to play the sherif along with actor Richard Tyson in a horror movie that stared Jonathon Davis from Korn who was supposed to play the Devil and appear in the cemetery in Kansas featured in Supernatural, but I can’t think of the name if the movie. Great video today! You did Hot Rod justice today!
That’s very awesome I absolutely love Roddy piper One of my favorite wrestlers of all time I would love to visit his grave maybe on one of my travels I will do that
Thank you for doing this video. I'm only 33, but, balled eyes out when he passed. He was an inspiration to me and my attitude. They Live is a great movie. ✌️❤️🤘
Piper used to own a Auto Repair Shop called "Piper's Pit Stop" located on 157th and Division in Portland. If I remember correctly there was a mural of Rowdy Roddy Piper on the front of the roll up door. I hope the two of you enjoyed your stay in Oregon? I'm looking forward to seeing more videos from your adventure.
I loved Rowdy Roddy Piper in They Live. Such a good movie. I always laugh when he says the line, "I'm here to chew bubble gum and kick ass. I'm all out of bubble gum." So sad he's gone. He'll be greatly missed.
Thank god someone else also remembered that movie I was getting scared. Piper isn't gone he is waiting in the ring for the next match with Macho Man. Ooooooohhhhhhh yyyyyeeeaaaaaahhhhhh DIG IT!
We seem to love all same things. I started watching wrestling when I was 3 yrs old. I loved all the 80's ,- 90's wrestlers growing up. Bret (the hitman) Hart is my all time fave as he and I born n raised in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. So many tough Canadian kids grew up to take the WWE by storm back in the day. Thanx for another rad vid! 😎🤘 R.I.P Rowdy. 🌹🖤
There's only one Rowdy Piper! I miss him so much. He was always one of my very favourite wrestlers, and had an in-your-face personality that demanded to be reckoned with. Since his notorious scalping match in WrestleMania III in the Silver Dome at the Mall of America to his Sottish bagpipes marching band on then-WWF's Monday NIght Raw, he was quite a character - a real shining star. Everything he did was larger than life, and wherever he appeared became a Main Event. My most cherished Piper moment was the record-breaking extended fight scene in John Carpenter's "They Live", which took violent comedy to dizzying new heights! That was da bomb!, as Jesse from "Breaking Bad" would say. Piper was as entertaining an action hero on the silver screen as he was a major player in the ring. RIP, dear Rowdy. You're The Best!!!
Rip! Good actor in "They live" along with Keith David aother legend of Hollywood! I hope you will make in the future a video about the final resting place of Chester Benington the vocalist from Linkin Park ! I miss him cause he had a unike voice and he was a true rockstar! No one will be like him! Respect for all who left us too soon! I hope they will find peace in the afterlife!
I was very fortunate to have met Roddy at three conventions .Every time he was very frendly and thankful for his fans . The items I have that he signed are very much prized possessions of mine.
My favorite thing he did in WWE was his interaction with Morton Downey Jr. with the fire extinguisher because Downey kept blowing cigarette smoke in his face.
Met him twice at some horror conventions. Loved to tell stories and was a entertainer through and through. One of the nicest men you could meet. Sad to know he died a couple years later.
He was of Scottish decent. His parents were from Scotland, so the gimmick wasn’t a stretch. And he taught himself to play the bagpipes after lying to a promoter that he could. He was also an accomplished amateur boxer in his youth.
In the WWF "land of 1000 dances" video Piper says to Cyndi Lauper........"You can take the goonies, stick the Goonies up your nose", she was in the black wig
At a horror con I worked he was one of the celebrity guests. I met him and talked for a few minutes, as nice guy as you could want to meet, truly. A big loss, very sad, Rest in Peace sir.
Just became even bigger fans of you guys!!!! I’m only 31, so I was still too young to watch him wrestle, but boy do i know another him. He was legitimately one of the best talkers, toughest dudes in wrestling. Some say stone cold was tough, Piper was tougher. Dude had no problem telling people how it was, Even outside the ring. True badass 👏👏
My Favorite Wrestler, who was not only Born in the same year, but also in April,a short Hours before I screamed, thats a nice Memory amongs the other good ones about the greatest Icon in WWF.Greetings to All his Fans .R.I.P. Roddy
My mom doesn't even like wrestling, but she loved Roddy Piper for some reason. I think it was because my grandpa watched wrestling. She cried when I told her he died. One of the best heels ever.
You forgot: “and one of the nicest guys in real life.” He was an absolute sweetheart with a heart of gold. Hilarious and absolutely loved his family and friends. I remember thinking when I found out he had passed on, I hope he knew just how much he was and is loved.
I am not a wrestling fan but it's very rare for me to watch wrestling but Roddy piper was.my favorite I use to love to watch him when I watched wrestling I even saw some of his movies may he be intertaining the angels in heaven our loss is heavens gain
Piper was one of my favs back in the day. He was a legend no doubt. He was so hyper and off the hook all the time. Pipers pit was awesome!!! How many times did that pit get trashed from him going off on someone! A lot!!
