I loved all their songs know the words. They looked so much alike they could be twins. I am grateful for the past times music and artists. Great times and memories. I would not trade for anything. Thank you again
Thank you for this upload Steve, love this tour you are making. I see a very personal America through your eyes and camera. And I wanna thank the Everly brothers for their music, rip Phil.
I am 70 years old. I have loved the Everly Brothers music my entire life. This visit is important to me and I am SO grateful you shared this visit with us all!! 🤗🙂
Okay,I have to admit that you have officially become my favorite You Tuber...I love your videos so much! The respect you show to everyone you post about, your genuine love and passion for what you do makes your uploads all the more unique and interesting. You and this man called Jerry Skinner are the absolute best....I am so glad I found you and your channel. 💕💕💕💕💕
John Prine is a VERY WORTHY STORYTO DO!!!!!! He passed away without the recognition he deserved!!!! It's sad he won't get the coverage he deserves!! One thing I cam talk to
Thanks Steve for sharing The Everly Brothers history and Phil Everly's grave. My mom saw the Everly Brothers perform when they were younger. One of my many favorite songs is ,The Story Of Me,, from the record EB 84.
GREAT VIDEO I GREW UP WITH THEM STILL LISTEN TO THEM THEIR MUSIC LIVES ON HAVE A GREAT HOLIDAY AND BE SAFE, CATHY'S CLOWN MY FAVORITE SAW THEM IN CONCERT HERE IN PITTSBURGH YEARS BACK. VERY NICE TOWN, VERY QUAINT. HEY I AM A SENIOR TOO I LOVE IT. I WILL BE GOING TO GATLENBURG THIS SEPT FOR MY BIRTHDAY. I HEAR IT IS GREAT THE COUNTRYSIDE IS BEAUTIFUL
I love this song from them forgotten the title of the song Please Mr Conductor don't get me off this train must get home to kiss mama gòodbye b4 God takes her away
I watched the video because I'm a fan of the Everly Bothers and then fell in love with the town. It's nice to know there are still places like that in America. Thank you for this video.
My brother always played the records of Don & Phil. I became a fan also. They had so many songs it is difficult to just name one. On their CD EB 84 their voices had matured to even better blend and harmony. Great vlog Steve. Rip Phil.
Fascinating video, Steve ... how wonderful that this small town has dedicated a Museum to music and the Everlys ---- and the man with passion for the music interviewed. The motel looks super after being lied to about FREE breakfasts in other motels. Incredible trip. The motel and town should be offering you big bucks for putting it on the map.
Phil was a lovely man and such a talented musician. Ike was Phil and Don’s father. When the Everly’s broke up in 1973, they infamously did not speak to one another for about ten years. They only got together at their fathers funeral. Phil and Don’s mother Margaret turned 100, and is in great health considering her age. Thanks for paying respects I am sure he is smiling up in heaven.
The Everly Brothers were certainly a wonderful act and I'm not surprised that so many other acts were influenced by them. Freddie Mayes certainly seems like a really nice guy. The thing about road trips is not only the great places you go but the great people that you meet. Thanks again Steve.
They were my first favorite group. Wonderful harmony. Cathy's clown (?). My memory isn't what it used to be but I think that was the name of the song. Put an umbrella in the car that you can take with you for the sun. They have those big golf umbrellas that would come in handy. Thanks so much for the tour. Safe journey.
I have a favorite cousin named Cathy and every time I heard that song, back in the '60s, I thought of her. also one of my favorites. love the umbrella idea. thanks, ntotr!
My daddy loved The Everly Brothers and would sing wake up little Susie! So of course that’s my favorite. I want to thank you again for an awesome video! I’m so enjoying them. 👏🏼❤️
More favorites of mine, Steve, the Everlys. The cemetery looks much like some of the larger ones in my own state, although some have shade trees, and, of course, some do not. Good showl, your visiting Phil's resting place, though, and the center about them, and the others.
You seem to enjoy so many of the musical artists that I do, Steve. Sounds of my teenage years and twenties. I prefer their slow songs too. The museum looks amazing. Wish I could visit these interesting places you discover. Most enjoyable video.
Thank you for sharing, Steve. Thank you for your passion, your interest, your skill. We viewers gained an appreciation, increased our appreciation, along with you. What a pleasure to join you on this visit. You've captured the tiny cemetery, the museum, Central City so thoroughly, so beautifully. For me, an extended glimpse of the family plot is a touchstone; through your virtual visit I feel I've paid my respects to the music icons, and without spectacle, cost. imposition or offense to Don's next of kin, the Everly family By now I do hope Don is also there resting in peace beside the marked grave of his father whom he adored, so to his brother, Phil. Thank you for the service you provide, Steve, your contribution.
Thank you, thank you Steve-o for all of your hard work and dedication to the memory of so many people. I know this GPS issue must make you crazy. BUT! You have thousands who appreciate your selfless effort. Be happy, my friend!
Enjoyed this video, Steve. I love the Everly Brothers' music even though I wasn't yet born when they became popular. My favorite song if theirs is Walk Right Back.
Awesome video Steve! I live a little over thirty miles from Central City. We went to the festival a couple of times back in the nineties. I wasn't an Everly Bros. fan until seeing them at the festival. To say that they were fantastic would be an understatement. I apologize for the horrible humidity you had to deal with. It doesn't normally get this humid this early in the summer but the times they are a changin'! Again, great video!
Went to an Everly Brothers concert in about 1985 with my older sister and a friend. It was terrific. Afterwards we stopped in a pub for a drink and Phil Everly and one of his band members asked to join us. Don was in his room. He was quite heavy at that time. Phil was slender. We talked and they wanted to go out dancing. I was willing, but my sister was uncomfortable with it because of her husband and my crazy girlfriend said she had to go to work early. Later she asked, "why did I do that? It was a once in a lifetime opportunity". Oh well. I was sad when I knew the duo was no more. Favorite song, All I have to do is dream, crying in the rain and many more. I like the slow songs better as well. Remember the TV show? That had to be early 70's.
wow, what great timing and what a great moment. thanks for sharing this with us, cynthia! and i can't believe it, but i think i missed their summer tv show :-(
Absolutely loved the Everly brothers and still do .Most beautiful harmony . One of my favourite songs is Take a message to Mary and Ebony Eyes . Greetings from Australia.
I loved this Vlog very much like the Everly Brothers music. The museum was really interesting. But the thing I found the most interesting, when you scanned the last shot of the cemetery there was a grave with the last name of Hunt on it. I’m pretty sure that is one of my Dad’s good friends from his army years
My mom, dad and brother are buried not far from the Everly are. My mom spent her teen years growing up in Central City Kentucky. We go to Central City every few years. We still have family there. Stayed at the motel 6 when we’re there for a family reunion. There’s a hotel across from this one that I have stayed at.
Thank you Steve for sharing this video with us. I really enjoyed seeing the inside of the museum. Thanks for showing us around the area. Have a great evening.
I live in Hudson North Carolina a small little town. James Best lived in Hickory North Carolina which is about 18 miles away. I once saw him at a restaurant and I asked him if he was James Best he was so nice he invited my husband and I to sit and talk with him. He was in the Air Force as was my husband they both were stationed at Charleston Air Force Base in Charleston SC. James about 10 years before my husband. I couldn’t believe how nice he was. He even did his Roscoe laugh for us. He told us he was a cousin to the Everly brothers.
Thanks once again Steve for bringing this musical history our way, and sometimes you really have your worked cut out for you and we appreciate that which you do. Have a great week, Graceland is getting closer!
I visited graceland about a week ago. loved it. long story, but i'm not uploading these videos in order. i'll be uploading it soon, though. thanks, dan!
Thank You Steve you are doing a great Job on you road trip. I wish I could do what you are doing enjoy yourself and make lasting memories. Thanks again.
Oh the Everly brothers where great, loved all there music, that would be so great to visit the museum. I remember a song they used to sing when I was very young called Scarlett Ribbons so beautiful probably my favorite song of there's. As always another great video thank you Steve
Steve, i bet you didn't know during the EB career, they never performed one song in concert live that they recorded. The song was " Ebony Eyes" which was the B side of "Walk Right Back". The song is about death, specifically a plane crash that killed a girlfriend.
I actually got to see The Everly Brothers with, (believe it or not ) Simon and Garfunkel!!! They were the surprise guests on the “Old Friend’s “ tour in the very early 2000’s ! What a privilege!!!
I’m loving traveling with you. Thank you.... this was a hidden gem The James Dean hometown is on my to do list this Summer. Looking forward to that video.
I saw the Everly Brothers walking thru a casino hotel and wanted to meet them. My boyfriend at the time didn't want to be "embarrassed" so I didn't grab the opportunity. Wish I had now. Loved the Everly Brothers' music.
You are lucky to have clear weather; albeit hot and humid. So. Cal. is cool and overcast with even a small amount of rain. As you probably know, the Everly Brothers held the record for Number One hits for a duo until Hall and Oates surpassed them. Your commentary and video presentation of the hotel rooms is very informative and greatly appreciated. Stay safe.
I didn't know that. kind of ironic. I loved the everly brothers and hall and oats are my least favorite group of all time :-) now that I know this, I like them even less :-) thanks, pc!
I love all there songs, includeing "Let it be me." I always did like there songs. Years ago, the Beverly Brothers did have a disbursement, but later reconciled.
When you die and are buried it seems you are soon forgotten. His grave seems like a lonely out of the way place. I was expecting a bigger memorial or at least some flowers around the stone. Seems that only after 7 years he is not remembered. Thank you Steve for making this vlog!
