@@charityandharmgreene2764 So is "Girl Named Tom"..2 brothers and their sister..they started out studying in the Medical field and now they're in the music biz..and are very very good too😃😊
Even though if a song/artist/sound ”stands the rest of time” dosen’t have to do with wheather one person still like the song/artist/sound decades later - but wheather the song/artist/sound still attracts new listeners decades later; I as a 27 year old music-lovet can confirm their music is still holding great standards today! Espacially this one 👌🏻👌🏻
@@patmelton43 If that is your photo, you sure don't look like you could be from the Class of 1961! Those were sure wonderful times, I sure do miss those days!
I also was lucky enough to see the Everly Brothers in concert in Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺 when l was 17.. I'm a Nan now ,but listening to their music takes me back to teenage years 🎟️🎶
It's 1960, I'm 15, and I've just heard "Cathy's Clown". The start of my lifelong love of the boys music. Nothing, in my mind, can touch their harmonies and the stories in their songs. Songs that personified teenage life and angst in the 50s and 60s. And so, yet another of my musical hero's from that era has gone. I'll do my crying in the rain because it's all so sad. Rest in Peace Phil
@@magicbus63 Very true. The harmonies of the Everleys were the best. To perfect harmonies to such a high standard meant hours and hours of practice. Gorgeous voices. They don't make em like that any more.
No one could make a sound as good as the Everly Brothers. Cathy's Clown, When will I be loved, Walk right back, Crying in the Rain, all classic tracks!
I'm aware when the Beatle's were on Ed Sullivan, February 9, 1964 You could still hear That's Old Fashioned on the radio even though it came out in '62.@hothemeep1219
@@johnnyintrieri damn I guess things must have changed dramatically from that point on. Rock n Roll/ doo wop era and the counter-culture/hippies era are separated by so very few years. I wasn't there to check for myself though
It's one of those very rare songs that you can play over and over again and never tire of,I can remember when I first bought the record it's a wonder I did not want it out bought many years later on cd plus still play it over and over.
these guys were there at the beginning of rock and roll and were one of the best of their era......hasn't been another group even close to matching their sound....
Oh man this song brings good memories yet brings a little loneliness for the good ol days as we call them. What a contribution Phil and Don Everly brought to our youth. Blessed to be in that era.
I was only 8yrs old when Cathy's Clown came out.I've loved it ever since and those two Gorgeous Brother's XX I've got ❤️ it on You tube at moment and have rewound it 8times up to yet.I'm from the UK 🇬🇧
This was Number one in UK for seven weeks in May and June 1960. At that same time my Grandparents met each other whilst this was top of the pops. Sixty years together and still going strong!
My favorite Everly Brother's song! Oh, Phil! We, little girls of the 60's, who knew so little & believed so much, will miss you so. RIP. The harmonies will live on...
24 years of age in 2020 and I absolutely adore the pre-70 era of music! Goosebumps at live performances wishing I had the opportunity of listening live!
How is it 60 years after they recorded tje song it sounds even better today.i saw Don appear on his own in Kingston Surrey in 72 after Phil was taken ill
To see the Everly Brothers from the audience I would have been turned away from the door because of the color of my skin. Possibly jailed for having the audacity to think that I would be treated equally. Being a nice respectful kid wouldn't have cut it. Times did change for the better! Better is still coming along at a snail's pace. Take one step forward and get kicked back 10.
Everly Brothers brought a new style in pop-rock music from the sixes to the eighties: forerunners of the Beatles and all followers. Very high talented musicians and singer : they marked an epoch ! R.I.P. Phil
My dad was fixing to transfer from Ft. Riley, Kansas to the University of Oklahoma when this song was playing. He was in the 3rd Armored Div. of the U.S. Army. I was a little fellow of four years of age. I remember this song on our 1955 Dodge Coronet's radio as we were driving to Junction City. Wish I could go back to 1960. Great times.
Having lost my two brothers at a very young age,I am always drawn to brothers that sing together. Their voices are in perfect harmony. Just listen to the bee gees,or the proclaimers. But my all time favourites are these two,the Everly Brothers are angels sent from heaven. I was born in 1968 so wasn't even around to listen to them in their day,but great music will live on for ever. What a joy to listen to. And hopefully great sounding music will one day return,as it has rapidly declined of the past few decades unfortunately, along with morals and dignity. It saddened me to hear that these two brothers had very different views of the world, and clashed terribly off stage. Life is just too short to fall out with the people that matter the most. I would give anything to have a day with my brothers, and there has been a massive hole in my heart since I lost them.
It's just not possible to explain just how huge this song was in that summer of '60. I was 13 y/o, heading to 14 . In Denver, on KTLN, 1250 AM , it was in the top 10, the entire summer . -----------it was just a perfect sing-along song. -------------------------WolfSky9, 74 y/o
What makes this song and these guys so Special and it does have a sound all its own. I love love LOVE IT. I was only 4yrs old back in NYC. when this came out. and I remember it like it was yesterday..playing on the radio. 54yrs ago and it sounds just as good.
R.I.P. dear Phillip ! You may have lost this battle against the COPD, but you will have your place in heaven for sure with your beautiful ( second ) voice. You was also such a nice guy.... We will not forget you here but we will miss your voice sure although we do have all your wonderful songs here together with Don and your beautiful close harmony.... My deep condolences to your family and sons and of course also to your brother Don..... We envy the heaven now......
I heard this as it came out never believing I would actually see them live which I did several times in the 80's. Wonderful vocalists and their harmony was an incredible never before heard sound.
IT AMAZES ME HOW ALL OF US '60s' ROCKERS WERE ON THE SAME PAGE WITH THE ADVENT OF ROCK, STARTING WITH ELVIS AND ON AN ON. THE ROOTS OF THIS MUSIC IS CREDITED TO GOSPEL AND BLUES AND WE ARE BLESSED TO HAVE BEEN A PART OF THIS REVOLUTION IN MUSIC AND LIFE! long live R&R!!!!
I grew up with this music, and enjoy it as much today as l did when l was a teenager... 🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶 Many artist's have tried to be the same ... and yes some came close... But in my opinion no one can ever be "Don and Phil Everly". May they both rest in peace in "Musical Heaven" Cheers ,from Australia 🇦🇺
So sorry to Lost last Everly brother thanks for your wonderful music guys brought up up on this wonderful harmony rest in peace guy's your music will live on😢😢😢
First heard this lovely song when I was a teenager, .Loved it then and even more in my seventies, when I ache for the innocence of those times. Unforgettable music.
Love this song as it makes me think (and laugh) about my Mum and Dad. Mum's name was yes, Cathy, Dad's name became after the release of this single "Cathy's Clown". Sung to him every time he went into the local after work in those long long ago days. Even after the song fell out of the top 40, it was still a tune he got greeted with, even after I came along some ten years later. Died 40 years ago, I still miss Cathy's (a.k.a Dad) Clown.
Merci pour ce partage en live J'aime beaucoup The Everly Brothers qui ont une voix qui s'harmonisent d'une excellente façon C'est très agréable de les écouter et même ici de les voir chanter et jouer
Times change and we change with them The drug scene hadn't even started to effect the average person only massive racism and gun crimes All of these factors eff eat today's music
I was 13 when this song came out. A few years later I was dating my late husband. Just as the song ( close to Cathy( followed this one , he would sing them both to me. There will never be another era like the 60s... my name is Cathy...
That’s what my sister died of in 2019. Miss her. And I know Don misses Phil too, like we all do. R.I.P. Phil 😇 and my sis, Charlene 😇. I forgot, my husband died from complications of COPD too. How could I have forgotten! R.I.P. Larry 😇. My sis & husband both smoked 🚬🚬. Bad for your health!
Love those guys, they are my company so much of the time, Reno is a hard place to make close friends, so I listen to these guys and watch their interviews. It really helps. Wish I could tell Don how much he means to me.
One of this black 60's Detroit chick's favorite songs. It was beautiful it was country rock n roll gospel rhythm and blues all in one song Great vocals.
Phil donated his time for Habitat for Humanity video I helped to produce a couple of years ago. I talked with him last month and he was having breathing problems but he was in good spirit. He was a very nice, congenial man. He will be missed. Rest in Peace Phil.
When the Beatles came out people thought it was the Everly Bros..But the Beatles knocked alot of acts out of the box. They just took over.Everything changed from that point on.I remember the first time i heard them.I knew right then that the world would change. And it did.
As a kid l loved the Snare Drum Roll..Besides loving the Everly Brothers. Harmony at it's BEST! Yes l play the Drums. Not as much at 67 now. But to start my Drum Set l bought a Black Marble Snare & Stand with my Paper Route money. R.l.P. Brother's. 🙏🏼 Sing in God's Choir.
