But lowkey at first I thought I was gonna cringe when she first just straight up said she's doing it to give a good impression but like well at least she was honest n it got her to get on a board by herself that's how you learn is just ride it
Props to Tommy for being an OG and going straight to the source, and balls deep, learning at a skatepark for his first go. Most people cant handle all that social pressure. That took guts.
@@nikosucksatskating Dude I’ve been skating regular street boards for 10+ years and have been quite committed to improving for the better part of the last 3 years, and I can’t kickflip. For different people these things can come easy or it might be entirely foreign to your body lol
your breakdown of emma's attempt on tricks speaks volumes , you're a high level guy yet you're impressed with her attempts at the simplest of stuff , thats what i love about skateboarding , people encouraging people no matter their level
Both girls did so much better than the dudes and seemed to be having more fun. Addison is prob a cpl weeks of regular skating away from landing a bunch more beginner/intermediate tricks
Emma. She seems to me like she would fit perfectly into the scene. She had fun and thats how it should be. But if you are a true skater, you step back on your board for the rest of your life, even if you have breaks between.
Charlie is a pro he is just to good for us humans to be able to comprehend his tricks. To us it looks as tho he is just barely pushing awkwardly but infact he is skating an unimaginable line that we might as well be chickens watching Einstein unravel the secrets of the universe.
Real, but I saw a girl with a board who wasn’t skating at all, when I asked her why she just said I just like the vibe not skating 💀 so yeahhh she isn’t a beginner (she has the board for over a year now and can’t even stand on it or push a bit)
@@1joku2ckey helps a lot for sure, but 5 is ambitious for most. I was able to work up to 5 stairs within a day of trying stairs (certainly not on the first day roller skating), but I also both played hockey up to university and figure skated when I was younger. 5 stairs skateboarding was definitely harder for me, but I never had prior experience in a similar sport. 5 stairs for someone who has never roller skated before... About as likely as someone who has never been on a skateboard doing a drop in on a quarter pipe day 1.
Trying to drop in before you try anything, sheesh. Almost went for it with the help of another, that takes courage. Cool to see anybody trying skateboarding and seeing them laugh at themselves failing/succeeding. Seems like Addison did the best but probably had some riding before this. So I feel like Tommy wins for really trying. Going out to a park with strangers and just seeing what its all about straight off the bat is cool. Awesome video.
I tried to drop in before I even learned to stand on the board. It was an amazing experience for my tailbone, that much is real. zero commitment, dropped my butt before my body and slid right behind the board. 10/10 would do it again
My prayers are with you on a very fast and healthy recovery. Miss seeing you skate bro. And as soon as you are back on the board, I need a lesson on how to dark slide. Could you do a tutorial on how to do a dark slide? You are really good at explaining on how to do the tricks.
@@rickyglaser Thank you so much brotha! It would be awesome to shred together! Oh, yeah! What did you think of the Braille Camo board I sent to you guys? It was the one where the dots glow in the dark. Lol. Took about 8 hours to paint it. I made it as a "thank you" to you guys. You all helped me out during a really dark time in my life. So, again. Thank you so much!
I was gunna order a skateboard online…but then I chose to go into the one skate shop we have in the area and I have zero regrets about that. The guy in the shop was amazing, he said wicked a lot but he was so useful, told me about good skateparks around, gave me stickers and a magazine. Stickers will always win me over.
As an aggressive blader, I assure you it's not as easy as you think it is. 5 stair jump on the first day is quite a stretch. Learning to jump AND land on wheels that you can't bail from is a trick.
Clearly an ego driven response. Either way what hes saying is true for almost any sport. Everyone learns things at different paces. I've seen people get ollies down instantly and bring them to sets essentially day one. I've also seen people skate hard every day for 5+ years and i can count how many tricks they can do on 2 hands. Everyone learns things at different paces just accept it.
i... i.. you...i DO YOU REALIZE HOW HARD IT IS TO DO TRICKS ON ROLLER SKATES IT DOES TAKE SKILL IMA BOUT yk nvm i just took that offenseve when you said doing tricks in roller skates does not take skill
When i worked at local skateshop i always recommended blank board and good enough other items for beginners. The deck is least effective for skateboarding experience unless it is actually bad. We didn't sell bad decks :) Why blank board? They're cheap and made in same factory as pro boards so they are good. If beginner decides that skateboarding is not they thing it didn't cost too much to try.
Been a skateboarder for 20 years and I’ve never been able to hold down a T tool for more than a couple months lol that guy was the life saver at the park
Call me Kevin did one and he actually documented something like a few different days of practice, his learning progress, and all the fears he had to struggle through. Think his was more in depth than any of these you showed. Still cool seeing people give it a try.
you watching penguinz0 skate and saying "OOOOOH" is like when a parent gets a terrible macaroni painting from their preschooler child and the parent goes "thats great"! lol tony hawk keeps it real and doesnt overreact
Did he really need to make a comment about roller skating being “easier” for jumping saying you could do it on your first day, there is a lot of stuff that is harder on roller skates too, I was really enjoying the video before that too :(
I got inspired to skateboard from that disneyXD show that was on years back (zeke and someone) 14 years ago. I love the boarding culture and vibe. And skateboarding just kicks serious as*
@rickyglaser omg that's crazy. It's also helped me so much to bend my knees and I can do tic tacs, maneuvers and travel. And I'm getting the right protection gear
Hating on completes rabble rabble rabble. Also if you live in a area that's super crusty the skatepark is one of the few areas where you got some decent flat ground. Pretty much everyone at the parks are super nice.
I always believed Tony Hawk always been the anchor to Skateboarding to the average person alive today. Hes a super humble dude and hes just a grown child like we all are as skateboarders. Tony always makes me smile to show you can never be too old to skate!
When I was a little kid all my friends had skateboards and I remember them asking me if I had one and I said no but I learned how to skate from one of them and I now just skate around and I love it I think it’s one of the best things to clear my head and I’ve noticed that when you skate but haven’t got a trick down skaters will always try to help you and tell you how they learned the skate community is awesome
bravo to the first girl for sure. and the last girl, good on her for showcasing sk8te to followers but also her attitude was on point and watching her learn and land stuff was great. charlie could have posted more than just that blip lollll. (and the other kid just felt like a poser. good on Wayne, brother, for taking time to try and teach the boy. bravo. good community. and the girl who lent her board and tried to help.)
I'll be honest with you (because it was featured in the intro) - sometimes the mall grab is just the best way to grab your board. Whoever calls you a poser for doing the mall grab is probably the biggest poser at the whole park.
i wasn't expecting you to talk about tommy here 😭 all of my recommended videos are either about skating or dsmp (mostly tommy) so seeing them cross over for a second here put me into a state of shock for a couple seconds ngl
It's mental how Addison Rae was born the same year as me. Damn. I don't have Tiktok, but heard of her through people mentioning her on youtube. I used to skate years ago as a kid, my older brother and I, even my dad. We'd make skate videos, play the video games, wear the shirts, make our own board graphic ideas, homemade ramps from a spare door and a box. But I haven't done it since then, and I'm 23 this year, and really need to get back to it. Still love skateboarding to this day. It had a contributing influence in my taste in music, and branched out into watching jackass and so on. It's my first love, and always will be.
five stair on the first day off rollerblading is a bit enthausiastic. but for most people it is in fact easier to learn than skateboarding because most hvae already done it in their early childhood.
To be fair, in my experience I've found that all the beginner skateboarders I've helped out (like my daughter) have preferred bigger, soft compound wheels. So much so that my Santa Cruz Cruiser with OJ 58s at 86a was stolen by my daughter so I had to get another. I actually prefer softer wheels myself, but for street skating, I find 95a or above the best compound, I skated in the 1980s through to the 1990s and then for a bit in the early 2000s before stopping completely due to dull boring real life. Started again in August 2023. Still can't land a kick flip.
The first girl went to the a shop that is owned by a person that has been in skateboarding forever. That is his third location that I know of, maybe more. I bought my first skateboard from him in the 80's.
When I first went to a skate shop, there was this awesome shop attendant, I think his name was Randy? He was hands down the nicest guy ive seen in a long time. He guided me to a skateboard and found all sorts of ways for me to get into skating and even offered to skate with me at a local park.
The girls definitely did the best and were the most genuine, the blonde guy seemed more like a poser was only interested in furthering his viper base but shoutout to Wayne for helping him somewhat. The other dude could probably learn if he wanted to but don't think his heart was in it.
I was thinking like ‘Adison ‘s gonna be cringe’ but as a matter of fact, she did pretty good ngl (im kind of a beginner myself, 4 months on the board and getting the hang of an ollie, finally)
Is it posing if I came across RU-vid shorts about skateboarding and it looked fun and inspiring then started my journey about researching about it and finally getting one? Your video where you watched this girls beginner skating journey and gave her more tips, corrections ,and advice inspired me more. I found myself starting to get inspired when I started researching about it and watched videos of different RU-vid skateboarders. I started to really really like skateboarding but I also likes it because of how cool it looked like when I watched Tony Hawks skating videos. Is it still posing? By the way if you guys can, can you send some tips for me because Im quite struggling with my skateboarding.😭😭
I’ve been skating for 3 years now, with massive breaks but still. I can’t drop in, I used to mongo but a skater gave me advice to be mongo no more. It’s hard, I’m reasonably young so It’s kind of easier to do it without worrying of the injuries, but I get scared all the time. Skating gives me the best adrenaline although and I’m so happy I’ve taken it up.
Poser: owns a skate board with brand new clean wheels, everyday. Why are your wheels so clean? Do you carry it everywhere? 🤣 Buuuuttt just jokes. More skaters the better I say. Some “posers” might just be too intimidated to ask for help on how to learn. Yes of course plenty of videos online, but sometimes people prefer learning with someone. So who knows. Maybe that poser is just to shy to ask “how the hell do I do this?”. The real question is why are they posing? Because skateboarding is cool!
A lot of newbies struggle with skating straight on roller skates and you say one could easily jump a 5 stair on the first day? For sure? I think you don't know what you are talking about 😅 I mean I know what you mean, to ollie you have to learn a new technique on roller skates it's almost like jumping, but if you never did some similar sports or artistic stuff you won't make it in one day ... Not even a month 😅
I like the first Girl because she did everything herself and did pretty good . That is the best way to start in my opinion . If you can't motivate to skate alone you are probably doing it for the wrong reasons .
Yeah, you cant jump a 5 stair first Day on inlines, unless you spend the whole Day practicing. Wonder how i know that? Because i bmx and can roll and ollie a skate, so i thought it would be easy, it's not, different balance than walking
Over 10 min in the vid but distracted by the roller skate comment, it’s highly unlikely that you could throw on skates and jump down a 5-step on day one. I’ll assume you may have been exaggerating slightly, but even then, it was a weird and unnecessary comparison to prove that skateboarding is difficult, takes time to learn, and involves a lot of technique. + frontside stair jumps on roller skates aren’t really comparable to any noteworthy skateboard OR roller skate tricks, which both range from rotations, airs, manual variations, inverts, grinds and slide, transition tricks to coping tricks to flat tricks and every thing in between and around…we respect you. Respect us.
Even as someone who has skated since they were 9 years old, some skate stores can be super intimidating because of the old shop pro that is usually super jaded.
I just bought a skateboard and i think I’ll be on your next “Famous Influencers Skating” video. Don’t let the fact that i only have 1200 subs detour from my fame!
bro, I honestly hate your style of skating, I don't like your trick selection and never really liked watching one of your clips. but you're pretty chill, and this video was pretty good, man, you got good vibes
As a roller skater who tried skateboarding for the first time yesterday, can confirm, much easier to jump in skates, I still can barely balance on the board (but I also don't have much smooth area, there's no skatepark in my village) However I'm not a professional at roller skating so the professionals may disagree with me ofc, I just find it easier to do a little jump on skates than on a board
They all just want attention, bet those boards are collecting dust ( what a shame, give it to some kid that really want to learn ). I am Not a gate keeper, i will teach any and all who want to really learn ( with what little i know ), these 4 seem it was a joke to them, Respect the Sub culture ! Gotta have heart, passion and commitment to practice every day. That's how i attack life and skating.
