Bruh.... that was a tribute to the Beatles, Jimi even acknowledged them vocally and knew Paul was in the crowd. He wasn't stealing their songs, stealing from an album like Peppers would not be subtle at all
@drewmoser882
@drewmoser882 3 месяца назад
@@luigiconder6113 100% correct. That commenter's analogy is so flawed. Covering a song is one thing, especially in a live setting. It's a tribute and everyone knows what is happening. But Zeppelin recorded the songs, and Jimmy Page gave himself the songwriting credits to other people's music!

He played one song of theirs that night. Not even the whole song. He opened with about a minute and a half of the title song but switched it to the key of E flat. There is audio of it on here.

@@drewmoser882 I'm only going to say this once, so you Hendrix fans can chill out or not, I don't care. Jimi Hendrix was an amazing artist, a revolutionary guitar player and the kind of person who could pick up a song just by hearing it once. But Jimi was a man of his time and in his time people took songs from one another. Jimi just did it quicker than most. In 1965 a band called The Leaves released 'Hey Joe' less than a year later Jimi was recording it. Bob Dylan released 'All Along the Watchtower' on Dec 27 1967 in Jan- 1968 Jimi was recording it. 'Born Under A Bad Sign' Albert King 1967 ....Jimi Hendrix 1968. 'Tax Free' Hansson & Karlsson 1967... Jimi Hendrix 1968. Jimi had lots of covers that he played. So did most musicians at that time. From somewhere Bob Dylan pick up 'The House of the Rising Sun' in 1962 and then The Animals made it a bigger hit in 1964. The same song sometimes charted at the same time under different artists. The 60's was a different time, no one was getting sued for copyright infringement. Even the famous Chuck Berry vs The Beach Boys over 'Surfin U.S.A. never went to court, it was settled. Once the 70's came everything changed, lawsuits over music became an opportunity for huge pay day. I was not saying Jimi Hendrix was steeling music from the Beatles, if anything Jimi was showing them that old blues man moxie, of anything you can do, i can do better. And what better place to do it but in front of the worlds biggest band. That takes balls man. A tribute maybe but I think it was more like a musical challenge.
@kahnlives
@kahnlives 2 месяца назад
To me it seems like envy. Their epithet in the Hall of Fame states “They were to the 70s what the Beatles were to the 60s.” These words were not addressed to The Who, The Stones or Pink Floyd. Sour grapes!

Zeppelin 4 was about as close to perfect as you can get and the Who never pulled that off. I doubt Hendrix gave a shit one way or another he really wasn't around long enough. Baker was foul about everything as time went on. Jones is a heavy talent and arguably the glue that made Zeppelin click, imho. I love that band to this day because they touched me musically and thats all that counts. Your a good presenter, don't take any crap from the peanut gallery.

They were just jealous because they did not sell as many records as they did. Beck and Page were childhood friends, and it was a coincidence they both played Dixons song on their first LPs. However, Page wrote Becks Bolero and gave it to Jeff. And they played it together famously live. All those others bands were nothing compared to Led Zeppelin. The Who sucked. LedHed Pb 207.20 🎶 🎸 🎹

Jimi Hendrix was hot and cold on lots of bands. He liked Eric Clapton who was the biggest rip off artist from blues musicians like Albert Kind, Howling Wolf and Robert Johnston. The one musician who Jimmy Hendrix was "afraid" of was none other than Billy Gibbons. Townsend never liked Page because Jimmy Page wanted Keith Moon and Entwistle to be in his band as the Who were almost near breaking up at that point. Also, I've become a bigger fan of their earlier stuff than I was then.."Dazed and Confused".."Since I've been loving' you".."Ramble On" (Always loved JPJ's bass in that one) are awesome songs!..There's no denying their collective, as well as their individual talents..Anyone that does I don't take seriously.

No, they actually were brilliant most nights. They also made the choice to improvise every single night, and not let the live shows get stale. Admittedly Robert Plant suffered a severe vocal injury during the ‘73 tour, and he had to tough it out every night because the show simply had to go on. He was still better than most. I saw them eight times, and in consecutive nights they also never played a track the same way twice. Ever. So sloppy and adventurous improvisation go hand in hand…. You want rubber stamped just like the album performances, go see some of the acts nowadays that are playing to backing and click tracks, or lip synching their way through shows in attempt to “sound like the album”. Zeppelin at their peak played three hour long shows with no opening act, night after night. The buildings they played in were typically giant sports stadiums with real accounting for the acoustics or sound, and they have left relatively few authorized live recordings. Much of their reputation for bad live shows has to be attributed to bad bootlegs and grainy handheld home movie camera sound. It’s likely you never saw them live, or if you did you caught a bad night, but when they were on, they were magnificent in their ability, sound, and sheer charisma. I saw them all back then, and most nights, Led Zeppelin was the best of them all.

@jetcat132 they weren't just sloppy they were extremely sloppy. Stairway to Heaven was a masterpiece but onstage it was garbage. the solo Jimmy Page did sounded like he was drunk, it went on way too long, when they played it live it was missing everything that made it a masterpiece
@jetcat132

@@haroldbranch7971 There was method to a lot of Page’s madness onstage. And improvisation at that level is going to be rough at times, but usually brilliant. Page was by no means one of those perfect soulless shredders, and he never said he was technically perfect. He was a master of emotion, not speed and accuracy but mood. And you didn’t see the shows I saw, lol. They also didn’t get to be the biggest band in the world during the 70’s by having a bad reputation live. Tell the truth… did you ever even see them, or are you just going off of what you’ve seen on RU-vid? Trust me, don’t try to equate the two… You obviously didn’t get what they were about even if you did, so I guess you’ll have it your way.

Pete can be a bit of a dick, but he was an exceptional songwriter for The Who. Not the greatest guitarist, but he made the most of what he had..His last name is pronounced Towns-Henned..Like Cocka-doodle-doo..Oh. Wait..That's a Rooster..Didn't grow up on a farm..Now, Carmine Appice pronunciation..Appice is an Italian last name, so it would be Ah-Peach-Ay, in Italy..In America with "Vanilla Fudge" it was pronounced App-issy.. But when he played with Rod Stewart, and then Jeff Beck (Beck, Bogert and Appice) he decided to go with Ah-peace...It stuck.

Covering someone's song isn't ripping them off. Led Zeppelin has been criticized for taking pieces of other people's music and turning them into "original" songs credited to themselves. The oldest video of Zeppelin, dated March 17, 1969, shows Bonham using a single bass drum. There was nothing of Vanilla Fudge in Dazed and Confused. The Fudge released a version of it in 2007, almost 40 years after Hendrix died. They gave credit to Jake Holmes and Jimmy Page. As for Zeppelin's version there is a part the song with the famous descending bass line of the Holmes' song but the lyrics were new and the whole heart of the song was original. You Shook Me was a blues standard played by many bands, not just the Jeff Beck Band. It was a Muddy Waters song. The Good Times Bad Times bass comment referred to the bass drum not the bass guitar and the use of triplets. Bonham said he was inspired to play triplets by Appice after hearing in the Beatles' Ticket to Ride on which Appice played. Appice did not play triplets on the bass drum, which is what Bonham did. The Tim Bogert mention is because someone thought Bonham was talking about the bass guitar played by Bogert in Vanilla Fudge when he made the comment. You see, Appice was in Vanilla Fudge too. Gave up this video after that.

He really created some beautiful music by taking from mostly obscure songs and elevated the ideas to timeless beauty. No one will remember the songs he stole from, but the music he created with the ideas he stole will last forever and gave me a lot of joy. Jimmy is like the Japanese. I hold nothing against Hendrix. Everybody is entitled to their own opinions. I love Hendrix and Zeppelin!!❤❤❤ Led Zeppelin made The Who sound like a castraded boys church choir!! Facts!!

I don't know about that who made highly original music last time I checked led Zeppelin didn't create their own rock opera or any form of conceptualized music for that matter it's one thing to do endless blistering covers of Old blues tunes and everybody else's music it's another thing to create your own story I think the real issue with led Zeppelin is they would not give credit unless they were forced to

@@robbielux8353 exactly just listen to Tommy you can tell those boys were crafting rock and roll story, or even from their early days of a track like pictures of Lily a song literally about falling in love with a pin-up girl or even Boris the spider a creepy little tune about a spider or a snotty track like My generation where they're basically telling the haters off
