As a marching 100 alumni. They look great. New uniforms and everything. We had the Presidential 10 Drum Majors. I’m so lucky and proud to have been and always be a part of the Marching 100. Class of 2000
Ever'time I see this band my heart, my spirit simply soars. It never gets old . Always exciting, always wondeful and marvelous. Salute to all Rattlers. We strike and strike and strikes.
The "100" is still the "100." Some things just never change. Fond memories of what happened down on the "patch," and Dr. Foster's famous last words, "Let's do it again, gentlemen!" The "100" was all male back then - just the musicians, no flags or frills. Doc - a.k.a. "the Law" - used to say, "We don't need all that stuff to make our band look good!" I remember the band still on the practice field - a.k.a. "the Patch" - long hours after the football team was already in the cafeteria for dinner. Some of the team used to come down after dinner to watch the "100" practice. I was on that snare drum line in 1968 (my sophomore year), but had to leave FAMU that same year for medical reasons before the season even started. It remains a big part of my foundation even to this day. To this day, the "100" is the most imitated marching band in the world. Does anyone out there remember that the "100" did the half-time show for Super Bowl III in Miami? It was the first Super Bowl officially called "the Super Bowl." They also did the half-time show the last time the Cleveland Browns won a championship (1964). That is when I first saw them (I'm from Cleveland). I could go on...
ATTENDING FAMU FROM 67-71 WERE THE BEST 4 YEARS OF MY LIFE!! THE MARCHING 100 ALWAYS PERFORMED AT A HIGH LEVEL. MANY HAVE ATTEMPTED THEIR STYLE AND PRECISION BUT HAVE COME UP SHORT. I REALLY MISS THE "DEATH MARCH" THEY PERFORMED WHEN ENTERING THE STADIUM!! HOLLA AT ALL MY FAMU ALUMNI
Wow! Those young people have it down! Amazing precision, amazing coordination….Band was the only thing that kept me in school during high school, Class of ‘75. I never went to college so I wasn’t able to be part of a team like this! Y’all have a new fan and follower. Thank you for bringing those memories back!
As a graduate of Florida A&M University, class of 1977, the Marching 100💯 is still the standard in Marching bands, period. The combination of sound quality, marching precision and the high bar and legacy set by Dr. Foster still exist today. As they say, often imitatated and never duplicated is the 💯. My nights in Gibbs Hall close the “Patch” were a experience like non other because it was inspiring to see a band with the commitment to excellence be a part of the drive to get my education and graduate. Rattler for life 🐍🐍🐍
It’s like a reborn FAMU for the future! Alumni of the older SWD. We learned from you what greatness is. RIP Robert Champion, SWD and FAMU Drum Major! 🙏🏾
Bringing back memories when Miami Orange Bowl Classic in the 70’s marching downtown Miami. Some, High Schools recognize & performed similar to this outstanding HBCU Marching BAND. Go Rattlers!
As a member of the MARCHING MEN OF COOKMAN from mid to late 70's all HBCU BANDS are very entertaining and enjoyable to watch a lot of people come to the games to just see the BAND
The Marching 100. FAMU graduate Class of '66. So very proud of my school. Beautiful colors. None like this Band. Still in style with their formations. Hollar from Palm Beach County in Boynton Beach, Florida
Greetings from Michigan! In high school I attended there summer band camp 2 years in a row back in early 2000's (02-03 i believe) FAMU is where I wanted to attend for college, but then life happen and I wasn't able to go! Memories are still strong and one of the things I wish I could've been was FAMU alumni! Love the school and I Love the band! Enjoy your time here guys, you'll remember it for life!
@@MrBlackguy757 Thank you. That's what I know it as. My father's high school patterned their selves after FAMU, so I learned how to play the cadence Workhorse #9, which includes the death march, when I was very young. I think they call it "Old Sequence" now.
The look and sound was great from what was shown. I’m just sad the stands were empty as people didn’t get to see all the hard work this group has done to get to this point. Keep it up.
Alumni Marching Spartan here. The last video I saw of FAMU, the drum majors were struggling a bit with the leg holds on the death march entrance. On this they are perfect and it’s absolutely beautiful. Uniforms are banging!
Raise your hand if you want to go back to your early 20s and go back to college. This shit right here, this shit right here was condalecyptonite. Love it.
Being a Rattler has always in my blood . And could have been a Fashion Designer out of High School but I desired to be a Rattler , and I watch the FAMU marching band practice at the patch . No other band or school could compare . I still remember Albert Chester , Jax and Benny Coffee , Plant City and of course me at as I attended as many games that I could get to by charter , by air and any other means . Class of 1976
Thanks for the footage 12! We appreciate the prompt videos!!! Request: maybe next time you can stay in place and record the entire band coming out, that was cool footage. Or close ups on the field? Not just the flags and drum majors, they get enough coverage. Also a lot of your videos cover brass only. Please give the same respect to the woodwinds. Thank you kindly!!!! Sincerely biggest band mom of winds♡
I love the DM coverage. Too many video cut away from things the DMs do. Like callijg the band to attention before the parade, certain ripples, etc. Glad to finally get some steady coverage because over the years, people would be all over the place attempting to catch EVERYTHING and we have to piece together the performance. Thank you Marching 100 Paparazzi.
It’s weird seeing them this small. I remember end zone to end zone. The whole field covered up. My 1st thought back in hs how are they going to do their show.
I just graduated from SBI at Famu summer ‘20 but I’ve been going to game and watching the band since ‘97 with my dad and my cheerleader outfit. I remember the marching 100 being end zone to end zone, getting penalty after penalty cause the band couldn’t get off the field fast enough lol. Partly because their were soooo many of them but also people would take the bands seats in the stands while they played on the field. People showed up just to see the game. Tallahassee born and raised there is no feeling like football season on the highest of the 7 hills. Take me back….. we’re so lucky we gottem, good times, good timeeeessssss #FAMU #1887 #GoRattlers
The way it’s looking down yonda in FL, FAMU and a layover 🛩 in Miami to get to a Caribbean destination are thee only 2 reasons I’d set foot in that state. Miss me with the rest. 💯
When I went to FAMU in 2001 the campus looked very similar to when my parents went to school in the late 70’s. Like I remember, my mom still knowing her way around campus. I even stayed in the same dorm as her. But this school looks completely different today then from when I went to school in 2001 😮
Ohhh Man...Im from Thomasville, Ga, right above Tallahassee, Fl.....and when i tell you I miss the "REAL MARCHING 100". You don't miss a good thing until it's gone!!! Looking at the stand....wow!!!!! Times have really changed and not always for the better!!
They look wonderful. But give credit where credit is due. A high school, Booker T. Washington and Carver High School of Montgomery, AL, was the FIRST to do the fast running steps onto the field back late 50/ early 60s. AL State University and Tuskegee University started doing it soon after and it still continues today. The rest is history and that step still inspires today.
This is why the rest of the WORLD can't deal with our EXCELLENCE! when we're on one accord a positive one no other can come close. They all sit back and wonder how the hell we do it even when we're the most hated people on God's earth. Nothing will keep us down!!! Nothing like an HBCU
