I'm so proud of them for bringing it despite being in that cold for all those hours. I was there and almost missed them. It was truly a great day for everyone. Thanks for posting.
You probably dont give a shit but does any of you know a method to log back into an Instagram account? I somehow forgot my login password. I would appreciate any tips you can offer me!
@Gunnar Stetson Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
I give it up to FAMU, they represented for all HBCU's during the inauguration! Those white folks out there were lovin' FAMU out there in the bitter cold. You see how in awe the President and his family were at their performance? Priceless!!!!
Looks like he said "They're the best!!"....and he's right!! Proud of my alma mater!! I marched in the 2nd clinton Inauguration and its a TREMENDOUS honor and even moreso for today!! HUBBA 100!!! Broman Fall '93 White Whales
My school is nowhere near FAMU, not even an HBCU, but I'm still a huge fan of the 100. I'm so happy for this band because y'all got a huge opportunity and killed it, as usual!
We Represented as Usual!! BUT it was so COLD..and A lot of members were sick..then off to ATL...where we put our best foot forward dispite our circumstances!! I'm proud to be a Rattler!!
I was there yesterday and famu did a great job!! I wish you guys would have did that dance break yall do to backstabbers...the crowd would have loved that, but its all good!! The rest of the hbcu were great too!!
As a proud SCSU Bulldog alum, I congratulate Famu on their inaugural performance, they looked and sounded great. I wish we had submitted an application to be invited.
Woodwind(Picclo,Flutes,Clarinets) help balance out the sound in my OPINION and in some songs make a nice feature, they also as the dynamic sound. They are beautiful sound insturments and if use ring can be very powerful and stand out to an music ear.
imma be real with ya...some people dont need to ALWAYS act like they are so superior. I know GENERALLY SPEAKING ...FAMU has a great band and history. but on the real.....some years ago I went to a battle of the bands here in Macon, GA where a small high school "Peach County GA"....they showed out on FAMU...Ft. Valley State University...and several other more popular high schools in attendance from Atlanta, Macon and Augusta. They out performed them all on that particular night, real shit.
That is what i'm talking about 2:05 sax section picking them up. It is something about hearing a HBCU band make a person that can not dance like myself feel as if they can. lololol
The older daughter looked completely mesmerized. The younger, was probably pouting because earlier, she had been jumping around acting hyper and Michelle gave her "the look", and she immediately stopped. Now, nobody can't say that's not TRUE motherly discipline!! Lol!! #100STRONG
Some say it's for the presidents, but for years they only had 8 and on rare occasion 9....but in all reality, the band is just that big, you need alot of manpower to help coordinate 400+ people.
they sounded good dont get me wrong. i love to hear tubas playin' out like that. its just that at a few times a few of them got out of time. even the drum majors noticed it in the beginning.
@Melvin430 It is for the # of presidents, hence the presidential X(10) the 9th president of the university was short lived then they got a tenth a few years later but they were also(and most famously) known as the Eight Wonders of The World, Magnificent Seven, etc, etc
@dreedqueen Because at the time LSU Band was out for the season. Marching Season for LSU happens only during the fall. As for marching in the Inaugual, only a very few bands were chosen. Gramblin' State Marching Band was the band that was chosen to march in the Inaugual for Louisiana.
they were obviously in a secluded area where the sound is going to bounce off the buildings. I'm sure the tubas did not mean to sound that loud. Its not there fault they are the biggest tuba section in the world :)
Hmm, I'm a Wildcat4Lyfe and I'm going to say that you've got's to be out of your mind. The best bands are from the Sunshine State. Congratulations..Marching 100 you all represented 100.
No dissrespect but I feel that Obama should have had more historic black bands in his parade like FAMU, BCU Jones High School, Grambling, Booker T Washington High School, Tuskegee, Miami Carole, I'm just saying this is a big step in black history. Those schools I named went through hell in history and look at them now but no body really knows it. But anyways FAM good job you represented FL well.
Not really we played for President Clinton as well we are legendary...I'm a FAMU 1993 Rattler we will always be the band all others are measured by. Learn it!
I have a small, but huge (in my case), favor to ask for anybody who marched for FAMU and experienced this; it's for a book that I'm writing. I just have two questions. Thanks...
@MrOu83 ...and where was "Southern" during the 2009 Presidential Inauguration Parade? Wait...Lemme' answer that - Baton Rouge, sitting in front of the TV. - FAMUALLDAY
i kno this is late but times have changed. People don't want that military stuff any more. They want entertainment. As a member of The Incomparable Marching 100 do you know how many times have ssen people pay money to see us do the things you call clowns for? Superbowls. Inaugurations. D1 FOOTBALL GAMES! ESPN! SPORTS ILLUSTRATED! The list goes on on! People want to be entertained! That's what we do! but we still have tremendous talent. I DARE YOU TO CHALLENGE ON OF OUR MUSICIANS!
B/C These are FAMU'S biggest haters every clip I look at on here there is somebody from one or all of these schools that are on here selling out on FAMU and none of them are at this Parade or even gets the recognition that FAMU they have proven to be the best.
@mashdoctor Doesn't offend me, but it shows that you don't understand HBCU bands. I am more familiar with FAMU, so I will tell you that they are not just carrying instruments... they are incredibly talented musicians. I have heard members of the bands a different non-band events giving solos and playing for visiting groups and most are well-trained in music. You only see the showmanship. You want them to walk in lines and cut corners... well that's not Black marching bands are about.
LMAO man wait one min let me get back in my chair. The fact that The Marching 100 has probably been more places and done more then MSU alone speak Volumes. But didn't they win the Sudler Trophy 3 years before yall. How many super Bowls? Man if i was to write all the things they have accomplish I would need 10 more comments so please that that MSU being the best band shit.
