Purchased: August 2023 - still works GREAT!I ru-vid.comUgkxxsUnXhGsSJLim_XnMHyQK0u3XVaW-CGn live in a studio and during the summer it gets scorching hot - really old building with no ac units. I can’t express how EASY it was to install. This unit has been a life savior during the summer and some days during other seasons where it can still be a bit warm at night. In this small place is my friend, a husky, poodle mix and myself. We need AC - lolI don’t use the dehumidifier option - I’m not sure if it will leak in my house, since I did not install the small draining hose that came with it. May look into it late but I don’t worry about much humidity in the apartment. I don’t understand why the negative reviews since all things mentioned, I personally did not find issues with. Definitely worth it!

Thanks for this video! I had to replace the blower because a kid stuck a pencil and broke the plastic blades, since I never registered my unit (4th one I've purchased btw that I've installed myself). I called Pioneer Customer Service direct trying to purchase a replacement blower, but they sent it to me for free! That was a relief! Several people have stated having difficulty lifting the heat exchanger to remove the motor . First off , I didn't even disconnect any of the wires, I just suspended the electronics from the wall with a piece of stiff wire and a drywall screw and if you also remove the screws on the opposite side from the motor, the heat exchanger can be tilt out of the way to pull out either the motor itself, the blower or the bearing. Easy peasy! Thank you again for posting this!

Great Video. I have 5 of these units in my home , one unit in my garage. I live in Arizona . The summers are brutal here (100 days of 100degree F + temps) . The units run 24 hours a day , all summer long. May thru October. Two of my units have bad fan motors They are making a rumbling sound. The units are two years old. Both are one ton units (12,000 BTU). I have installed dozens of these units for friends and family here in Arizona. Pioneer Mini Splits, are fantastic, reliable, very efficient. Super easy to install. The kits are “ready to go”. I have always experienced great customer support. Please don’t let anyone’s unverified , negative comments dis sway you. These units will become commonplace in the USA. I think the days of people spending $8,000 - $12,000 on an HVAC system will become a rare occurrence. People are smart,, seeking Reliability and Value

The best video out there for assembly/disassembly of this type of mini-split. I have a Bryant (a.k.a. Carrier) dual-head system and I was able to disassemble both heads and fully disinfect/clean all the internal components (blower fan, drip plate, internal plastic parts). My mini splits were giving off some pretty gross smells when they flipped from A/C to fan (once the room had cooled down to the set temp), and doing this fully fixed the problem. I had the system installed about 3 years ago, so I anticipate this is something I'd want to do every few years, and the cheapest I could hire an HVAC professional to perform a deep clean was for $500. Give it a try!

I just used this video to take my blower out to clean it, I had some problem keeping the coils high enough to remove the metal guard so I left it in place after I removed the screws. I then undid the set screw and pulled out the blower from the non-motor side. It was a bit of a pain as my unit is above a stair opening in my tiny loft but I have a platform I made to go under it. I love my unit and it does a great job at keeping my loft cool, even though my loft is inside a metal shop in the south.

I recently went through a similar process to replace the blower wheel on my unit and it is definitely not as easy as they make it look. I actually wasn't able to get the bracket out even after messing with it for hours because it has several random chunks of metal for unused screw holes that interfere with the U shaped loops on the right side of the coil, so I ended up lifting the left side of the coil and replacing the blower wheel through that side, which worked much better. The left side of the coil lifts much easier and higher because there are no lines on that side. It's obvious that this unit didn't have the lines connected to the coil judging by how freely it moved compared to reality. The screws for the bracket were pretty badly rusted on mine after 5 years of use and didn't want to budge, but I was eventually able to get them out undamaged by soaking them with penetrating oil and carefully heating them with a butane torch. It doesn't help that you have to use the screwdriver at an awkward sideways angle on several of the screws because the lines are in the way. Whatever you do, do NOT strip out the screws or this job will become a nightmare. Once I got the screws out, I cleaned them up and coated them with anti seize before reinstalling them in case I have to take them out again in the future. Finally, I'd highly recommend wearing safety glasses and/or pumping down the unit before starting this job just in case you break a line. Although pretty unlikely if you are careful, it's definitely possible with this job and the possibility of -55 degree liquid refrigerant and oil spraying everywhere at 200+ PSI isn't a risk to ignore or take lightly. Unless you are very mechanically talented and have the time and patience to mess with a tedious, delicate, and nearly impossible job for hours, you may be better off hiring a professional to do this job for you, especially considering the unavoidable risk of breaking a refrigerant line trying to move the coil around at odd angles.

My motor stopped after ~1.5 months or so and I got an "E3" error message. Highseer's tech support was great, he sent a new motor, however shipping must have kicked the box under a workbench since it took over a month from "shipment created" to "sent." The motor replacement was extremely frustrating, even with this video. My heat exchanger did not want to move like that and the design of that little metal bracket is obnoxious. The plastic motor cover simply would not release with the angles I was allowed (because my heat exchanger wouldn't move as much). I also had to break the black spacer out, it would not come out, period. Fired right up after I replaced it.

@PioneerMiniSplit
@PioneerMiniSplit 5 лет назад
Hi Amy, sorry to hear you're experiencing that. That is quite unusual and you shouldn't have to go through that especially since it will most likely be a simple fix. You can try to clean the air filters after removing them (1:15 of this video) to see if that solves your problem. Your unit's user manual has details regarding this. You can also call our support staff for advice anytime on weekdays from 9-6 eastern time and they'll do their best to diagnose the problem for you.
@ranger5697
@ranger5697 5 лет назад
The high pitched ringing is the motor. My heat pump condenser unit went out while I was away. Smoked the wires. High Seer was great and sold me a new unit at a greatly reduced rate. System is 3 years old and has been operating pretty much non stop heat and air 24/7 since it was installed . While I was at it a bought spare parts just in case of failure on the indoor unit. Spare condenser fan motor (outside) condenser control box and inside fan since it appeared to be a little noisier (high pitched ringing) than it was when first installed. Happened gradually until the point it was unacceptable. Just got done replacing the inside unit motor and works as advertised. Took about two hours just being careful to get it right and not break anything. If I ever have to do it again it will take less than half of that. This is actually a pretty good video for what it is. The hardest part of the whole project was removing the metal mounting plate. I actually trimmed a piece off of the backside edge that was what was binding up and making it so hard to remove. If you're not mechanically inclined I would hire someone to replace the motor for you. Otherwise go for it. High pitched ringing is gone.

Fan motor was making a buzzing noise. Poor cooling performance. Pressure fine on refrigerant line. Called Pioneer got a new motor. New motor silent more or less. The problem is that fan speed appears to be inconsistent. If i leave it on long enough it will eventually fall behind warming the coils and freeze up. If i open the cover it starts blowing well again. Sometimes it works fine for hours and then air output gets weak again followed by eventual freezing. Filters are clean. Any ideas pioneer? Does the bimetal thermistor die? Is that wired piece you pull out of the right side control fan speed maybe? Oh and forgot to mention that this is basically the same symptom as before fan replacement. So likely that is not the issue.

I have been turning wrenches for over 50 years working on muscle cars and race motorcycles and have extracted many screws but this is the absolute worst situation I have ever seen! Hi Sir, You can typically tell if your fan motor needs to be replaced when your unit is displaying either an "E3" error code, or if "88" is flashing continuously. There aren't many visual or noise-related signs that would immediately suggest the need for replacement otherwise. Feel free to give us a call if you suspect this may be necessary for your unit!

@@pioneerminisplit8547 Mine is exhibiting a rumbling out of round type noise... quite noticeable, but does not show any codes on the unit. It certainly sounds like a bearing either from the fan motor or at the other end of the squirrel cage. Almost sounds like the cage has somehow gotten out of round. We are coming in the type of weather ( early/late spring ) when it would be most economical to operate it. Can't figure why it isn't throwing some kind of code.

Neither do those rusted screws, and if you damage the head, good luck to you. And the video is spliced so you dont see searching for screws that drop. Easy to fall down drain. I lost main computer board after 2 years, fan motor bad at 2.5. It is a shame we cant engineer these things so easier to repair and clean. No sense in all this work to replace motor. On my unit (shroud is gray actually) the metal bracket feels like it's attached to the shroud so lifting the exchanger up as little as I could wouldn't affect position of the metal bracket, it still would be dead on that plastic shroud. So I have no idea how to remove that piece..

I had the same problem. Be lifting the left side of the exchanger I was finally able to get some space to get the right side lifted up enough to finally get the bracket off. That was, by far, the most difficult part. It will eventually slide up and out of the fan plastic piece.

There is a plastic tab on the motor housing which keeps it locked to the metal bracket. You have to depress it to seperate the two pieces.

This video was a good guide however, it is 1000% NOT as easy as a show it in this video. I’m a professional mechanic by trade and getting the (4) screw metal plate and motor cover back on was a nightmare. Pro tip for the DIYer. Take pics every step during dissemble. During re install the (4) screw metal plate has a bunch of extra screw hole tabs that are not being used. Mark the screw holes that you use with black marker and when you go to reinstall, cut off the unused screw hole tabs as well as the back metal fin/tab that tucks behind the blower motor cover.. it will make getting this plate back on way easier.

Very poor design!!!!!! Way too much screws(8 of them) to hold down the evaporating coil near the blower fan motor!!!!! Take too long to remove and replace them!!!!!! This brand is certainly not in my list for the next AC!!!!!!!!
