When the brood leaving the ministry it was the beginning off end for the ministry, and it’s pretty simple, how could you replace THE EDGE, and yes I just wanted to say THE EDGE.

I want to say that “I crippled more people than polio” promo was during the feud with The Rock going into KOTR 99. I do remember that Taker was WWF Champion at hat time.

The problem with the angle was the whole Higher Power part. It required someone with credibility in order for it to go anywhere. As good as Christopher Daniels was in 1999, the audience that knew about him was a lot smaller in 1999 compared to 2019. Him being the Higher Power would’ve been just like Vince, a giant wet fart, especially when you would have him standing between Taker and Austin. And while Jake Roberts would’ve been great, this was around the time where he was a literal crackhead (this was around the time the infamous Heroes of Wrestling show), so I wouldn’t blame them for not putting him on TV. Personally, I would’ve gone with Ted DiBiase (he brought both Austin and Taker into the WWF and had been trying to buy the WWF Title since 1987), or a darker version of Brother Love (since Bruce Prichard has admitted that he was going to be a TV character as Doink The Klown’s manager around that time, but it was scrapped).

I loved his theme song at this time

Ahh, the Higher Power storyline. Even as a young mark I didn’t understand why Vince would go so far to screw Austin and Taker would stand by as a secondary act and let this crazy old man let it happen

Ryan wasn’t all that wrong. 1999 was the red headed stepchild of the Attitude Era.

I absolutely loved the Ministry Of Darkness, they were such a unique faction and everyone played their role perfectly, the Acolytes were excellent as the henchmen delivering the beat downs, Viscera was great as the muscle, Mideon was fine as a weirdo, The Brood were amazing as the gothic vampires and were a perfect fit with Taker's gimmick & of course Paul Bearer was perfect as always in the manager role. At times I admit it was a bit over the top but it was like watching a dark fantasy movie everytime they slowly walked out to the ring. Undertaker's Ministry look was one of his best ever, the hooded robe with the long devilish goatee was just amazing, the entrance he had at WM15 when he had the massive cape with the huge spikes on both shoulders with his hair platted and slicked back just made him look like satan. His promos during that era was some of his best work and he was still getting huge pops from the fans even though he was supposed to be the monster heel. The only thing I hated and I think we can all agree on this was when the group merged with the Corporation and became the Corporate Ministry with Vince Mcmahon being revealed as the higher power. It was so stupid especially as Taker and the boss's respective factions were feuding with each other not that long before, for me once the Brood left the group, they lost the dark edge that made them so unique and once Vince got involved, it completely murdered the mystique but the initial early run they had from Jan to April, they really made an impact.

I wanted the ministry of darkness to come back towards the end of the undertakers career but not be a large group maybe he takes two superstars under his wing.

I loved how the guy was going on about no one jobbing, the the best line was "nobody ever told Nash he was gonna be the new red rooster, just to get in the ring and do what's right for business." Then to hear it was Bryan Alveraz was kinda cool. It almost didn't surprise me.

Ministry of Darkness Undertaker was one of my favorite versions of him the music the gear was cool and he was at his most evil I'm sorry we didn't have it longer.

I don't get why people hate that version of Undertaker. I loved how creepy Taker was back then.

A promising storyline that got convoluted and screwed in the end and became all about the mcmahons.....who would have thought wwe would do that eh lol The theme song was great though...still a classic even today

The Ministry of Darkness started out well. The slow build with Taker's heel turn in October 1998, all the way up to the pulling of the trigger in January 1999 when the Ministry was officially introduced was compelling storytelling. The issue was turning the Ministry into another McMahon ego-driven storyline. The moment The Ministry of Darkness joined forces with The Corportation, it went downhill and never recovered. Undertaker never should've joined forces with Vince. His character has always hated Vince so it was illogical. Having Taker rule majority of 1999 on his own with the Ministry against one equal group of top babyfaces would've been a better route

The Ministry of Darkness was a great stable. Just was competing with a popular stable in the Corporation, the top 3 greatest faction in WWE. There was nothing you could have done with a roster full of heels and nobody to fight. Taker, Kane, and Paul Bearer were great together while it last. The Acolytes were bitching, Viscera was scary, I did feel bad for Mideon, the one guy that ate the falls and was on the butt end of the stick.

I didn’t really like it much either. All I can really remember was Vince being the mastermind and it introduced us to Stephanie McMahon as being a regular onscreen character. Other than that...I can’t remember too much about it.

I can certainly see how some people were sour on that first Ministry segment where Undertaker sacrificed Dennis Knight. The props/effects were cheap and Undertaker was badly lip-synching a pre-recorded speech rather than simply doing it live, and then of course Michael Cole, even in '99, being Michael Cole and ruining every moment he opens his mouth on (sadly nothing has changed 20 years later). But, things got a lot better from there and some of Taker's most badass entrances/moments of his career happened during this era. Also, his wide right hooks were at the peak of their style and delivery in the Ministry days. Sucks though that the angle had to get convoluted and lame when the Ministry combined with the Corporation and ended with Vince being the higher power. Anyways, the Ministry wasn't for everyone. But, I thought it was total badass and wish Undertaker hadn't been plagued with injuries so it could've gone on a little longer. I feel as though all the supernatural, paranormal, horror themed stuff doesnt translate well on a wrestling show or in wrestling overall it works better in movies and Hollywood.

And i chouldnt help think weres the police in all this or the guys in the back there had to be 30 other guys and i was like ok? No one wants to help this has to be a crime lol. I'm all fairness most of the stuff MOD did was pretty stupid, for example embalming Austin, burning Vince's doll, hanging Boss Man at WM 15. Also as a Christian I wasn't a big fan of the crucifixion stuff either.
