Fanbase Mixed about Kingdom Hearts 4 Wait..

I really want them to stop announcing games early. When Nomura admitted to announcing kh4 early all I could utter was "Oh boy, here we go again".

Honestly the fact that Nomura and the rest of Square keep Kingdom Hearts IV info under such lock & key is because they don't wanna have another KHIII situation where they show another trailer and have development nowhere near ready for launch.

Long time KH fans are very good waiters. The most important thing is to not let the final product be a disappointment. Quality is what we care about.

I can understand the long wait, since they also have a lot of other titles but dang is the lack of trailers or information is getting to me. I still have hope though. I BELIEVE IN MY HEART WE'LL GET IT SOMEDAY!

I have no problem with the kh4 wait considering I have a huge backlog and there are plenty of other upcoming jrpgs that have my interest like ys 10, reynatis, and metaphor etc

This is why I do not trust leaks at all. It can potentially be false and ruin the build up for the hype. On another note, I'm not going to be too mad about the wait. I waited six years for KH3 and it was peak. So, I can wait for probably another six years just for Kh4 to be on the same tier as KH1 and KH3.

Part of me finds it funny, given the big wait between 2-3 (although, we also had a ton of spin offs to help make the wait more bearable)

I definitely get why people are complaining. It really seemed like there was a lot of setup because of kingdom hearts coming to steam, so it would’ve made sense to give us more kingdom hearts 4 news and information or even a new trailer as well. My next hope is D23 but I don’t want to get my hopes too much in case it doesn’t happen. We’ll have to wait and see.

See this wouldn’t be an issue if they released a side game in between, missing link doesn’t count. It could release this year and kh 4 in 2026, and that would be better

Kingdom Hearts fans have such a toxic obsession with this franchise. We need to treat ourselves better

I feel like they're possibly trying to avoid the hype KH3 had. KH3 is a game that was never gonna live up to the hype and it's one of the main reasons it was seen as such a disappointment because of how long fans had to waited for it. They're possibly keeping information about 4 scarce to the public to avoid any overhyped expectations before release.

I'm fine waiting. I'll wait for quality and to not put stress on the team. Possible we might get other Kingdom Hearts games much like we got between 2 and 3 and each can be fun, enjoyable gameplay, and enriching story and developments. As we wait we can talk about worlds and hopes. One hope is for Kairi to become more then a damsel role and maybe we can touch aspects such as Sora's family, Riku's family, what else is on that world beside the beach on Destiny Islands (a shool and small town or city maybe and if a raft was finally taken beyond the beach like it was originally planned in KH1 would anything be discovered unknown to the others about that world), and Kairi's past and family from her original homeworld Radiant Gardens. Plus being a "Princess of Heart" which grants certain powers that Riku, Sora, and other keyblade wielders don't have maybe a new magic system just for her. Also Minnie and Daisy has been always stuck in the castle yet other media they are capable brawlers. With Sora partnered with Donald & Goofy and Riku with Mickey all the time maybe Kairi can team up with Minnie and Daisy going to other worlds to further train or understand what a Princess of heart and her own powers beyond the others means and can be controlled. With Inside Out 2 released and enjoying it I would like to see that world make a appearance. I don't like when worlds are just retellings of the exact same story presented vs taking the characters we know and telling something fresh and participates in the adventure as a whole however I don't want to spoil it but Kairi feels like a great character for Inside Out (the 'world' essentially inside her and we take control of Kairi's Joy and paired with Kairi's Anger (offensive role setup) and maybe Kairi's Sadness (defense support setup) and Kairi's Anxiety. In Kingdom Hearts 1 she was mostly a damsel/traveler within Sora and when she was able to move about agian what happened: Kairi: "Let's go! Sora: Sorry. You'll only get in the way.' Kingdom Hearts 2 she again used as bait/damsel, has to be saved, gets a keyblade yet not part of the final battle. KH3: Then she trains hoping to be a equal to the others & helpful yet still gets captured and has to be saved. MOM: she can't defeat memory Xehanort inside her thus a inner Sora has to do it inside and what happens at the end of that one: Kairi: 'I want to go but... Riku: sorry you can't. Might get in the way'. Those memories and Kairi wanting to get better in total sets up a Inside Out 2 tale within Kairi.

I know this is a little bit off topic, but I’m slowly playing through the legend of Spyro trilogy of games and each of those games came out one year after the other. The first 2 games were developed by Krome Studios and Dawn of the Dragon developed by the French developer I can’t remember the name of. I still don’t know why the change of developers needed to happen to begin with for the most part, but I could only imagine if those games were coming out for the first time today, the releases wouldn’t be anywhere near as consistent. I looked up the development history for all 3 games and find it so fascinating overall.

Yall need to go play other games and be patient. Lots of other events this year to show it off.

Honestly I am kinda forgetting about missing link and kh4, well we have the steam release and other none kh games like sparking zero.

I just want a 2-3 year release window, that way I can know whether I should sit and expect any sort of announcement at every possible event ever and be disappointed when it doesn't show up or not. Just some degree of transparency and Missing Link dropping would keep a good amount of us pleased for at least 3yrs

Square announces a game, then you wait a minimum of 5 years.. it's just how Square rolls. Getting upset about it is pointless, they aren't going to change.

I think personally, because of the wait for Tears of the Kingdom and FF7 Rebirth, its def fair to start thinking about a long wait if it surpasses 4 years. I've found that alot of companies need atleast 4+ years to get something out or to find a sweet spot to start releasing teasers. That's prob why I'm much more comfortable waiting for KH 4 👀 I will admit, maybe a small teaser or taste of something this year-- maybe at the game awards or the.. tokyo game fest? (I forgor what it was called lol) would be neat, just to give us a heads up that it is going smoothly or something, but expecting something big before the 4 year mark is probably wishful thinking (for me lmao)

I hate the fact we have to wait for kh4 and also I hate the fact that missing link still isn't out yet either.

i dont think it would be dropping on 2025 because a bunch of a huge games coming out next year like one of the biggest game coming out GTA 6 i dont think square enix wants to interrupt their launch

I'm starting to feel empty... I wonder what's taking them so long. I get games take longer these days, but... no trailer for 2 years? Something is wrong...

I thin Square Enix just isn't good at managing expectations regarding marketing its titles, their transparency is also not great. I'm still expecting 2025 since Square Enix has nothing else big for that year (along with it following the release cycle they established with FF7 Rebirth). People will feel better when Missing-Link launches, then a proper trailer for KH4. Till then we got Life is Strange from Square Enix :3

Has anyone experienced a saved data filed that just was gone after saving?? This KH community is awesome and I know there’s good advice coming from the same gamers who love this franchise. That being said… I got all the way up to the point to fight Xemnas in 1.5 and after I lost I chose to load in only to find no saved data. I have no idea what happened and how this came about, but I’m terribly sad about this 😢 if anyone has a resolution I would greatly appreciate it! I’m desperate at this point, and if I can’t recover it I’ll just go straight into KH2

It makes me suffer knowing that, at minimum, I’ll be 15 when KH4 comes out

Honestly, I hope they dont tease as much as they did with kh3. They teased way to much. If they never dropped the last trailer, I felt like kh3 could have hit more. I hope kh4 gets a trailer when its closer to launch.

One thing is for certain, when Kingdom Hearts 4 comes out I'll still be waiting for Silksong.

In other words. Patience for the hardcore fans out there. It won't take that long like Last time. Considering the timeleapse after the Last game im pretty sure either next year or 2026 it will finally be released. And the updates for KH4 will release when time is right. Just my opinion. Ok?

After not seeing KH4 at SGF. Im patient again. Im a bit annoyed about Missing Link though. All these delays that occured. Especially with it being just about a month about them announcing pre registration info is coming soon. Im more excited for Missing Link currently and literally everyday i wake up with the hopes of looking at my phone and seeing ML news but nope. Stillll waiting in that. I am however really wanting KH4 updates really bad. But im more patient with it because I want that game to be a masterpiece. Im still hopeful for a 2025 release but if its gonna be 26' then so be it. That game has every opportunity to be better than KH3

I’m just upset that missing link isn’t a live service console game that’s in the classic KH style And that square Enix keeps trying to cater to a Japanese mobile game market. It’s also pushing 3 years without Any news, even during kh3 development we got art work and screenshots to hold us down They literally gave us still image of the chest scene with voice acting over it and we was satisfied for like 18 months

Just give us Missing Link in the meantime. I'm in the acceptance stage that KH4 is still a ways off.

It’s inaccurate to characterize BBS, DDD, Coded, etc as games to tide us over for KH3. Those games were made INSTEAD of KH3 because SE didn’t want to fund a big KH numbered title. And it wasn’t until AFTER those games were released that the Osaka team started to work on KH3. The actual titles that existed to make the wait more bearable were KHUX and KH1.5+2.5+2.8. A phone game made by a different team, and a rerelease. Well we’re getting the exact same now, the Steam release and Missing Link hopefully soon.

The people who are losing their minds over the wait for KH4 are probably newer to the series and/or need help understanding development timelines. A lot of times I see people compare it to the dev time of KH3 - but they don't realize that the reason KH3 took so long to develop was because they had to switch engines mid-development, which essentially means they had to restart from scratch. In addition, Nomura stated that KH3 was revealed way too early back when it was just a concept vs. anything solid. And for the lack of trailers, KH3 showed WAAAAAY too many trailers and gave away so many endgame spoilers because of it. Right now I get the impression that they are saying/showing less so when the time comes the few trailers we get will be exciting. People just need to be patient and wait. Its coming.

Missing link is what I'm so itching for. Kh4 I'd rather it sit and cook slowly so it's a good product that has what 3 was lacking and whatnot. Missing link is going to be a game that runs for a while anyway. So why not release it already. I saw mostly great reviews from testers about performance. Even if it was just pre registration and a launch month, I'd be content with that Information because then we have a rough frame instead of a "Soon" that's been shown for almost if not longer than a month on their site.

I believe the real reason we're waiting way longer than we should, it's really because of the absolute massive ambition on visuals this game seems to aim, more so than KH3. And another thing I'm worried about, is if the whole game will be filled with useless minigames, cause that was the thing I hated the most about 3.

Honestly it’s not that the fans can’t wait for the game, we just want steady and consistent news about it. Gameplay, character models, keyblades, etc just being semi public about it so fans can keep building anticipation for it.

It’s funny that gamers aka fans don’t understand game development at all. The game industry is a wreck with all these lay offs . The problem is that companies showing off their titles so early in development instead of waiting when it’s to early . What they showed was in unreal engine 4.27 and now we are in 5.4 where are these features are placed and companies get set back with updating .

My wife is a hard-core fan and she is very calm and relaxed and not in no rush for it to come out after all some of the best games such as kingdom hearts 3 or even other games like ratchet and clank among others turned out better than any game that gets rush developed

I have no problems. KH3 revealed TOO much in the build up to release and i'll always stand by that. It affected the opinions of KH3 to a lot people (myself included). For me KH4 needs to give a less is more approach.

After how awful Unchained X/Union X were, I'm shocked people are so excited for Missing Link. Unchained X, in particular, had such a disappointing story with only a couple of notable parts. Nothing but fluff, filler, and gambling shoved in people's faces for the vast majority. Mobile games need to die.

I fail to see why people STILL haven't caught on to the fact that after EVERY SINGLE initial announcement trailer the game will ALWAYS take an additional FULL 6 YEARS before it has an actual release. I don't expect to see KH4 news until at LEAST 2029-2030 easily.
