For the family of Fannie Lou Hamer, she was a woman of power and presence as a civil and human rights activist. But to Jacqueline Hamer Flakes, Monica Land, and Jimmy Lee Lacey, she was also so much more - a mother, a wife, and a friend who was loving and giving. The in-depth interview provides an intimacy to Mrs. Hamer's life, work and legacy that can only be told by those who knew her best.
FANNIE LOU HAMER'S AMERICA: A portrait of civil rights activist Fannie Lou Hamer. Through evocative speech and soulful song, Hamer made it her life's work to enfranchise and increase Black political representation. For more: bit.ly/ARF_FannieLouHamerA

Ms. Fannie Lou Hamer, is a name that when you hear it, you remember what she represented during this pivotal time in history. She was not invited to the 1968 Democratic Convention but she showed up ready to voice her thoughts about the unequivocal rights that existed for Black people. Her presence commanded attention. We love you Fannie Lou because you helped to change the trajectory of this country . Your spirit remain in every Black woman who get up to go to work , saying " I am sick and tired of being sick and tired" RIP Ms. Fannie Lou Hamer.

I'm soooo glad that I came across Mrs. Fannie Lou Hamer. She indeed was an awesome woman. She was born the same ear of my great grandmother in 1917, whom lived to see 103 years old and passed away peacefully in 2021. She would tell me a lot of stories about what happened back in the day. We are from Louisiana and are French. We believe in a lot of things that are in her RU-vid videos. I am very passionate about my black history and watch as much as I could due to my great grand mother. Its so sad that things were that way and we were forced to endure the pain and suffering as human being in general. Yes, I to was raised to love everyone no matter color. Thats they way we were raised and would get it if we had a problem with it. I am glad I can watch her, she certainly have motivated me in may ways.

She saw the intersection between voting rights, education, and economic opportunity. She was far ahead of her time, and was planting seeds for trees that she wouldn't live to sit under. We, the people, must continue her legacy and fight for the upward mobility and empowerment of the Black community. May her name forever be engraved in the halls of history for her outstanding work and achievements to make a better world for us all.

Our beautiful strong outstanding loving mother.God gave us a living angle. And may we honor her each day for all she fought for It's so sad for any race to do all the ugly hurting things they done to a human race of people. And even with change from so much blood shedded so many hearts and soul torched with pain that still is within. And even with the truth being known today for those that did not know all the evil. There still lays so much evil from the hands of today.Toward justice for the black human race. From the higher ups etc Yet with our race continuing the fight for life. And trusting in ourselves as human .We can still go forth as Mama Fannie gave her all .So today children learn from these things they are ur weapons of courage , strength, hope and love that was left behind for you try making this life better. And with the torch being passed on we shall come forth as God made us to be Live and determination is a street to take. There will be bridges that must be cross. And fear not to seek and fight for truth and justice.Fear only God and allow him to bring u through. It can be done Look at Malcom, martin Fannie Harreit, Mega John Kennedy and so so many more.May the hearts of those that bring hate and injustice, melt as God place a holt upon all evil.We all are life in his sight .I have not to much respect for how this country can say the home of the brave and land of the free. However for all the cotton pick whips hungry and wrong done at the end of the day I can say This is My Country. We built it with blood and sweat And lots of pain.Yes Please God bless America.
