The reason why the scene with Homelander zapping the crowd was so convincing is because that action would well be within his character to do so. When other shows pull that daydream trope, it's typically when the character in question is behaving outside their established bounds.

to be honest, Homeland has superstrength and excellent combative skills. But half the time he’s too lazy to actually save people so he just uses his laser vision without even bothering to control how much of it he uses. That’s why he destroyed the plane control board and left all those passengers to die and that’s why he killed that innocent bystander.

I think when he finally snaps, it’s gonna have the “coming back to reality” focusing sound effects after he does something similar, but then he realizes he actually did it and the sound effects cut off or fade and the camera doesn’t cut to a different reality

Was actually excited when Karen Fukuhara, the one who starred as Kimiko, got casted here cause she's the voice actor of one my fav animated series: Glimmer in She-ra and the Princesses of Power, and Kipo in Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts. She's also Katana in Suicide Squad. Such a great actress.
